To ask if anyone can confirm sex of my kitten from photo?

I feel a bit stupid asking this but..... had kitten 6 weeks. Told she was a girl. Took her to vets a couple weeks ago for injections. Vet said she was a girl but it took him ages to decide.

Last night I was cuddling her and she lays like a baby. I am convinced a little willy popped out. Can anyone tell? 😊😊😊

Yes Alby is nice. Here’s a more flattering picture. He grabbed my pen when I was trying to do a crossword 😀

Have you asked the cat instead of being so hung up on genitalia?

BlueEyedBengal · 09/09/2018 00:47

Cute kitten, as a boy cat owner congratulations you have a boy! Could call him Alfie or Albie if you want a boy version. But whatever you call him he won't mindSmile

CatchingBabies · 09/09/2018 01:00

In terms of settling in, I’ve always found males get along better with other males (assuming both neutered) so it’s personal opinion really. Your older male is grumpy because you’ve brought a new kitten in, that’s normal regardless of sex and will generally settle down after a while. He is very cute btw, love the name Alby!

therewillbetime · 09/09/2018 01:00

Yes they are both nice names

Sorry OP, I'm tired and misread your post, thought you meant you had kitten from 6 weeks 😬

DigsysDiner · 09/09/2018 01:07

That's a boy. He even has a boys face 😂😂😂

PenelopeFlintstone · 09/09/2018 01:14

Ha ha Grin

Got to tell this story here. We took delivery of a gorgeous kitten at 7 or 8 weeks. Called her Jesse, after Jesse Pinkman (Bitch) :) dh took her to be spayed at the vets. Vet calls dh - we can't spay your cat but we have neutered your cat... Waiting room was in bits!

TheClaws · 09/09/2018 02:04

Similar thing happened to me - I’ve told this story before, too, but a few hours after I took delivery of my female Burmese kitten, I noticed the rather obvious addition of male genitalia. I rang the breeder and told her she’d given me a boy, and she replied, “”Are you sure?”

“He has balls!” Poor kitty.

CatOwned · 09/09/2018 02:13

Alby looks a lot like my Cisco. Hopefully he (because I agree it's a he) won't get the same idea as Cisco: she's recently learned she can camouflage herself and make herself brown by rolling in earth.

We got a kitten from the same litter as my MIL. Both boys. I took them both to be neutered and when I picked them up Marley was now Carly and Duke was now Daisy 😂😂 I didn't know sexing cats was so difficult.

FastWindow · 09/09/2018 02:14

claws I am a massive Burmese fan, what do you have? We had a Brown we saved and saved for in 1989. What a breed!!

BarbaraofSevillle · 09/09/2018 02:35

It can be hard to tell in kittens when fluffyness disguises the testicles and the kittens won't stay still to get a good look.

Years ago, I took two young kittens that I had just rescued to the vets and one was long hair and the vet had them bum to bum to compare the spacing between the holes before (correctly it turns out) declaring them both boys.

TheClaws · 09/09/2018 04:37

FastWindow she’s a brown Burmese too. She’s absolutely gorgeous. She has, by far, the best temperament and personality of any cat I’ve had.

agnurse · 09/09/2018 04:49

Can't tell from the pic but I DO know that my brother and SIL's cat had misdiagnosed gender. Literally found out when the cat went for altering. They were set up to do a spay and discovered he was actually a boy. Fortunately that's a positive mistake because a neuter is less complicated than a spay. (I think this was before they adopted him; Dolby came from an animal shelter.)

From what I understand all kittens initially present as female as the testes take time to drop into the scrotum. Over time you'll see the scrotal sac develop and that's when it becomes pretty obvious. That's how we knew Gatsby was a boy. (Biggie and Jayda were sexed and altered before they came to us as they came from rescues.)

Brahumbug · 09/09/2018 07:05

What gender does he identify as? He might want to be non binary. Grin

toastedbeagle · 09/09/2018 07:15

His facial expression says boy.... can't imagine a lady cat looking so happy to be flashing their genitalia at a camera Smile

WilburIsSomePig · 09/09/2018 07:21

What about Albus?

Whatever you call him, he's a beaut.

flumpybear · 09/09/2018 07:31

Lol - I'd say boy too - reminds me of the fun we had a few years ago

We have guinea pigs, bought two females, 6 months later Princess Sparklws had a litter of baby piggies and lollipop went to the vet for his minor op! Unfortunately by then lolly had impregnated Sparky again so she then had another 5 babies a short time later. We kept Puzzle from litter 1 and Snowdrop from litter two - both deemed girls by our vet

So we then had three girls and 1 neutered Male, however then both Puzzle and Sparky had more litters .... snowdrop wasn't a girl Shock

We ended up with 13 baby piggies in total, all but 2
Rehomed... because we wanted to keep them - thankfully we decided to learn how to sex them ourselves ...., thank you You Tube Wink

echt · 09/09/2018 07:42

Almost certainly a boy - the arse and pink bits are way too far apart to be a girl

Top post, Spoonblender:o

therewillbetime · 09/09/2018 07:58

Thank you all, Cisco looks gorgeous and all your cats sound lovely. It’s so weird, to me she always looked like a girl, but now to me, he looks like a boy!!!! I wonder why he was harder so sex than his two brothers who were in the same litter.

Yes, at least neutering is straightforward!

Polkadotdelight · 09/09/2018 08:05

Fastwidow we almost had a Hesse Pinkman too when a stray turned up, he has a white stripe in his nose so fitted Badger better, still got the BB in there though!

As for Albie/Albus, definitely a boy! As others have already said, the distance is too big between openings!

Polkadotdelight · 09/09/2018 08:06

Jesse not Hesse lol!

TofuCat · 09/09/2018 08:18

We once found an abandoned cat that was sexed by a vet nurse and a very good vet as female. Only found out he was male when they cut him open to spay him a month later! He was fully grown but they think he was neutered quite young so hadn't fully developed.
