NC as potentially outing.

£45 pair of trainers look like this after 6weeks of wear, manufacturer says its 'wear and tear'. My son is 3.5 years, size 11.5 shoes.

AIBU in thinking this isn't normal wear and tear?

Pics are of ours and a google image of the nearest equivalent!

Looks pretty normal. No idea why you would spend so much money on 3 years olds shoes though, thats insane.

Mossend · 05/09/2018 17:44

I don't think they are destroyed. Are the soles ok?

Neolara · 05/09/2018 17:48

Geox shoes are bloody expensive. Having bought Geox shoes for years, because they were great quality, the last couple of pairs of geox shoes I bought fell apart relatively quickly. And that's why I now go to Clarks.

XiCi · 05/09/2018 17:56

Monster size feet for a 3 year old Smile

They look scuffed but also look like they have plenty of wear left in them.

GetSchwifty · 05/09/2018 18:00

I got my son a pair of geox for school last September and they were trashed and unwearable by December. The sole had come away from the shoe. Clark’s have always lasted for us, never buying geox again. Has the white bit at the front of the shoe come away?

SassitudeandSparkle · 05/09/2018 18:01

They don't look destroyed to me either, just scuffed. Nothing is breaking apart there.

aperolspritzplease · 05/09/2018 18:02

That's what dts ended up like after using their feet as scooter breaks, it's just scuffing.

Lauren83 · 05/09/2018 18:04

I would say normal and that it's damage not a fault, you can't stop shoes from scuffing if they connect with the floor at the toe

Phillipa12 · 05/09/2018 18:05

They are fabulously sturdy shoes, my ds age 4.5 has had them and worn them daily for 4 months and when i purchased them they cost £23 in the sale. School shoes however do not last anywhere near as long as there trainers!

tbh buying trainers worth that much for a 3 year old is a bit optimistic! Kids mess up their stuff quickly playing. You would be better off buying a cheap pair for playing out and a slightly smarter pair for best. I still however wouldn't pay that much for a toddler's trainers.

50Running50 · 05/09/2018 18:06

Looks normal to me as well

Kool4katz · 05/09/2018 18:08

Couldn't agree more OP.
Mine doesn't climb trees, play sports or ride a bike/scooter because he's dyspraxic but he always wears the front toes of his shoes really quickly.

SleepFreeZone · 05/09/2018 18:11

I wouldn’t be happy OP. But I doubt you get anywhere with a complaint as it does look as though he has been dragging the toes of his trainers along as he rides his bike or something.

EggysMom · 05/09/2018 18:15

£45 on a pair of trainers for a 3.5 year old???????

RubyLux · 05/09/2018 18:19

FORTY FIVE POUNDS for a 3 year old shoes?! More fool you.

Aeroflotgirl · 05/09/2018 18:25

I spent £40 on my D's 4 at the time Geox savages, and they lasted a year of constant wear before they got small, money well spent.whereashis£10 cheapies only lasted 1month.

shoess · 05/09/2018 18:26

So he has big feet, he's 110cm tall so the size of a 5 year old. We massively struggled to find shoes in size 11.5 that weren't school shoes or lace up trainers. I'd been everywhere. I didn't want trainers but these were a literally a last resort, I was shocked at £45.

He just does normal play. He has a scooter but only goes on it maybe once or twice a week.

I'll accept if I'm being unreasonable but I'd assumed shoes at that price are designed to last more than a few weeks. I think they look awful, tatty and like they are worn out. Not just scuffs but lumps off them.

Manufacturer has just done a U turn and offered £25 voucher which covers a new pair of shoes in the sale.

So I guess the question is - where do I buy shoes if I don't want them to cost me £1 a day!

Outing because I have family on here so the point is all my other posts can't be linked :)

Yabu. Buy cheaper shoes until he stops riding ride-on toys or whatever else it is he's doing to cause this. Decathlon and Sports Direct do velcro trainers much cheaper, as do most supermarkets.

jacqroberts68 · 05/09/2018 18:36

My kid used to do this he used his shoes as the brakes on his bike

SheGotBetteDavisEyes · 05/09/2018 18:36

I think they look more wrecked than they should to be honest.

I buy Campers for my scooter-bike-foot dragging DS - they get an absolute hammering, but last so well and look pretty good until he outgrows them.

paxillin · 05/09/2018 18:42

First step would be to let him wear these for a while still, there is life in them yet.

saganorenscarandcoat · 05/09/2018 18:44

They're only scuffed

redsummershoes · 05/09/2018 18:46

supermarkets, outdoor shops (decathlon own brand is good)

saganorenscarandcoat · 05/09/2018 18:47

Oh, and they are NOT destroyed. A tad over dramatic OP.
