PatchworkElmer · 31/08/2018 16:40

ItWentInMyEye · 31/08/2018 16:40

My cousin named his two daughters mine & my brothers names Confused bizarre.

CoolCarrie · 31/08/2018 16:42

Jacob is Latin for James.

MarianneAgain · 31/08/2018 16:42

I know a Christelle who married a Christopher: and they called their kids Remi and Emma.

And a chap called Laurent who called his daughter Laura which sounds very similar in French.

My best friend also called her daughter Laura and my DH couldn't understand why I vetoed Flora as a name for our firstborn.

CatkinToadflax · 31/08/2018 16:44

Not their real names as it would be too identifying, but I know of two elder siblings with the most flamboyant names imaginable and the third with an extremely conventional name - think along the lines of Aloysius, Augustina....and Jack.

GrouchyKiwi · 31/08/2018 16:44

I read a book recently which gave me the rage as twin characters were called Heloise and Eloise.

kierenthecommunity · 31/08/2018 16:44

I knew a family where all the children were something-Lee, whether boy or girl. So Jade-Lee, Billy-Lee, Emmi-Lee, Sammy-Lee, Jordan-Lee. Interesting

I saw similar in a trashy mag. Dad’s name was Lee 🙄

Theirs were something like Kaiden-Lee, Tommy-Lee and Charlie-Lee. Obviously they didn’t say the last one out loud before registering it...

TroysMammy · 31/08/2018 16:45

George Foreman's 5 sons are all called George.

kierenthecommunity · 31/08/2018 16:45

Actually the Queen has an Anne and an Andrew doesn’t she? Didn’t she check with mumsnet first? Wink

Crunchymum · 31/08/2018 16:46

Joshua and Josiah. Just odd.

ihearttc · 31/08/2018 16:46

I used to be a dental nurse and we had a set of twin boys as patients called Thomas and Jeremy...shortened to Tom and Jerry!

SleepWarrior · 31/08/2018 16:46

Not sure which poster said its really weird to see posters asking to find a name to match their current child's name, but I have to disagree a bit.

To some extent matching names are a good idea. It would be more odd to have a Dave, Aloysius, Muhammad and Fadzai sibling set, even if you had to links to all the countries/cultures those names originate from. Pretty normal to want them to be broadly speaking the same sort of names I'd have thought. Many examples here of that being taken far too far though!

Pandamodium · 31/08/2018 16:47

Not twins but I have nieces called name1-Rose and name2-Rose.

DB is a twat mind you.

redexpat · 31/08/2018 16:48

There were 4 sisters at camp - Melinda, Melissa, Milly and Melina (I think). They had toddler twin brothers both called Michael.

Gm was Daisy and her sister was Margaret.

ShinyMe · 31/08/2018 16:56

I used to know a family who had Shane, Shaun, Shauna, Sheena and Melissa. Poor Melissa always moaned that she didn't fit. Her brothers called her Shisha though.

ALittleAubergine · 31/08/2018 16:57

I think it's quite usual to give siblings similar sounding names. Or something that is in common with all the names, such as same initial, same theme etc. Weirdly I know a couple of families where the older kids all have similar names and then parents have had a later in life baby with a completely different name.

littlecabbage · 31/08/2018 16:59

A friend was in hospital on a postnatal ward with triplets - Faith, Hope and Kevin Grin

Golde · 31/08/2018 16:59

Has no one mentioned the famous MN triplets yet?

Faith, Hope and Kevin.

ToffeePennie · 31/08/2018 17:05

I have seen many unusual names but nothing beats my great great nans siblings they are all either twins or triplets and there’s about 18/20 of them in total. Upon researching the family tree we have William, Wilbur and Wilhelmina, Lilly and Lilian, Ruben and ruby, Henry, Harriett and Harry, Nancy and Norman etc etc. It’s bonkers but brilliant. I think they got to my Nan (Florence) and her brother (Frederick) and had literally ran out of names. There’s a charlie, Charles and Charlotte too!

ElinoristhenewEnid · 31/08/2018 17:08

I knew sisters called Laura and Lauren

HouseOfSix · 31/08/2018 17:11

@MaxPepsi we have a friend in common as I also was about to comment on the two Mels I know Smile

MarieeBarone · 31/08/2018 17:12

My Mum went to school with twins Jemma and Jemima.

WyfOfBathe · 31/08/2018 17:15

I don't have a problem with pairs like Jacob & James. I know brothers John & Ieuan, which are both from the same route, but as they sound different, I think it's okay. I also like sibling names which "go together", which was hard when naming DD since SDD's name really isn't my style.

I did have twins in my school with similar names and the same nickname, e.g. Benjamin and Benaiah, both known as Ben by their own friends. I was in Benjamin's class, and it took me about 2 years to realise that Benaiah existed.

Shosha1 · 31/08/2018 17:16

Not quite the same, but my DS1 and his DW have the male and female form of the same name 😁
