Twins Tom and Harry - surname Dickin.

Sister and brother named Coral and Reef.

A little girl named Milly Mills.

SocialPiranha · 31/08/2018 16:09

I know of 2 brothers called Harley and Harry, 2 sisters called Kira and Keira and 2 brothers called Jacob and Jason. Each to their own but there’s so many possibilities out there I don’t know why you’d choose names are that so similar.

We were on a plane last year with identical twin boys aged about 4 sitting behind us. They were called George and Harrison. Dh reckoned the parents were too young to know who George Harrison was and just liked the names. I thought that unlikely.....

Could be Star Wars fans and named after George Lucas and Harrison Ford. Grin

A few of my cousins (all siblings) were named with format of same initial, two syllables, same last letter of the name. It was fine, the names weren't that samey that I ever thought anything of it. But they have continued the exact same format with the same letters with their own kids, which is weird to me, and some names now only differ by a letter. (They must have run out of ones they like, though, as last child had a "wrong" letter as the last one of his name.) They have mentioned that with them having a very common surname, it felt like a nice family identity thing, though. I guess it's fine if none of them mind...

Siblings named Darren, Karen and Aaron.

There were a set of boy/girl twins in the year below my DS at primary school called Christian and (not sure of the spelling, so this is phonetic) Christi-Ann. Which is essentially the same name.

Mind, I'm hardly one to judge. I inadvertantly gave my children (who are not only different genders, but also have 8 years between them) matching names. Well. Their names both have "atha" after their (different) first initial and some different letters after it. Had no clue until my DS was maybe 6 or 7 months old and I happened to see their names written down one on top of the other... Blush (Although, in my defence, I did let DD pick her brother's final name from a pre-approved list... and I don't think she realised, either!)

Ola was Mariola actually, always known as Ola, teachers asked to use the diminutives etc, but Gosia and Zosia caused a stir!

DubaiismyBlackpool · 31/08/2018 16:11

2 sisters I know are called Stephy and Stephnie.
I thought their parents were taking the mick when they told me.

BG2015 · 31/08/2018 16:11

My brother had a friend called Shaun Bourne.

I also taught some kids who were called Levi (girl) Denim (boy) she did go on to have a third but I'd moved teaching jobs by then so not sure if she carried on the 'Jean' theme!

I knew 3 brothers called Thomas, Richard and Harry, so were naturally always referred to as Tom, Dick and Harry.

Holyguacamoley · 31/08/2018 16:13

This is true. I met twins (in very ahem, rural, part of the States) called...

Pete

and

Repete

Tomselleckhaskindeyes · 31/08/2018 16:13

I have twins and I was going to name 2 names beginning with I. I realised that in years the come this could cause confusion so decided against it.

Jermaine Jackson's children are:

Jermajesty
Jaafar
Jermaine
Jaimy
Autumn
Jeremy

Poor Autumn.

multivac · 31/08/2018 16:15

It's not just twins that suffer. I saw some adorable triplets in town the other day stopped and chatted as you do asking their names. Mum proudly replies Star, Nova and Stella

I actually like that

Me too. Also not quite sure what's so hilarious about naming a twin Thomas. Unless you name the other one Also-a-thomas...

MaxPepsi · 31/08/2018 16:16

I worked with a Melanie, Mel for short.

Her sister was called Melissa, also Mel for short!!

DarthLipgloss · 31/08/2018 16:16

My identical twin dds have the same initial.
I love their names, they are relatively unusual with very 90s hippy middle names. but if i did it again would not do the twinny name thing. I was early 20s when i had them and didn't really think about it in the same as i would now.

NotAnotherNoughtiesTune · 31/08/2018 16:17

Oh and Jourdynn too Envy

FourFriedChickensDryWhiteToast · 31/08/2018 16:21

I know of twins called Tye and Tya...

Lauren0rder · 31/08/2018 16:22

We had a Rachel and a Raquel twins in school.

tillytoodles1 · 31/08/2018 16:27

A girl I knew had two girls called Danielle,& Daniella, then a son called Daniel.

BikeRunSki · 31/08/2018 16:32

I know twins called Harrison and Harriet. But not quite as unimaginative as Roseanne and Rosey. Poor Rosey.

DSHathawayGivesMeFannyGallops · 31/08/2018 16:34

I went to school with twins Sandeep & Mandeep. They were affectionately known as Sandy n' Mandy. Their little sister was Randeep, fortunately shortened to Ruby, not Randy.

abbsisspartacus · 31/08/2018 16:36

I asked my dad why he didn't have s middle name he told me his twin had it I thought he was joking but actually he was serious all the older brothers have middle names except the babies (dad and twin) they got one each

DSHathawayGivesMeFannyGallops · 31/08/2018 16:36

Also an Ashley. With 2 older brothers Alexander and Alistair. Their dad insisted on it so that they'd be the A-team.

Failingat40 · 31/08/2018 16:37

This thread will get zapped soon as it is very unprofessional to disclose you work in a school then slate the kids names online!

The mis-spelling of the name Rosie as Rosey is the worst part of the parents faux pas imo. That spelling is awful.
