NCed for this. I work in a school. we have twins coming.

TWIN1 is called: Roseanne
TWIN2 is called: Rosy

No lies.

why would you do that? Confused

OP posts:
thegreylady · 31/08/2018 18:16

I met twins named Erica and Heather which I thought sounded lovely despite meaning the same thing. They’d be teenagers now...

Bunnyrabbitbinkyhouse · 31/08/2018 18:19

I know sisters, Megan and Morgan

BlackLambAndGreyFalcon · 31/08/2018 18:20

My great-grandmother was a twin. Her first name and middle names were violet daisy. Her sister's names were daisy violet. I've often wondered what my great-great-grandparents were thinking!!

BunsOfAnarchy · 31/08/2018 18:25

I am in a mums group on fb and 3 mums have had twins...all 3 sets have beautiful names and individual names.
No same first initial
No rhyming
No male and female of same name

BoBro · 31/08/2018 18:31

Have you seen the YouTube twins Jacy & Kacy? Always makes me 🤔🙄

AamdC · 31/08/2018 18:31

My Grandads were Bill and Ben which i always found amusing Paternal Grandad was Bill amd Maternal Grandad Ben😀

Maelstrop · 31/08/2018 18:38

Three girls, one which the younger two were twins, all names ended -inita. Mum told me she was a bit annoyed she couldn’t use the same ending for the son as it was a girl’s name. Confused

Two brothers, not twins, called Shane and Sean. I found that really odd.

OutPinked · 31/08/2018 18:39

Also a family with three girls - Mia, Millie and Mindy. Finally had their long-awaited boy and called him... Kevin grin

My DM has a friend who named her four DD’s colour names so like Ruby, Scarlett etc then when her long awaited boy came along everyone was expecting a masculine colour name (if one exists). He is called Albert?!

Oh I went to school with a Christopher, his dad was also a Christopher and now he has a son called Christopher. I always find it really weird and egotistical but I realise it’s quite a common thing to do.

MissLingoss · 31/08/2018 18:40

I think if I were Goodison I would always wonder why.

I'd assume someone was an Everton fan!

whiteroseredrose · 31/08/2018 18:49

DD had a friend called Sara at school. Her sisters were Zara and Zahara.

Nomorechickens · 31/08/2018 18:50

The Abbey Girls had children???!!! Hot news to me

My friend met someone who was expecting twins, if they were both girls she was going to call them Shevawn and Siobhan (pronounced She-o-bahn). Friend had to gently tell her that they were the same name. But judging from the names on this thread, maybe she shouldn't have bothered

onemorecupofcoffeefortheroad · 31/08/2018 18:58

I know siblings called James (m) and Jaimie (f).

Slightly different but I'm often aware of similar sounding names for siblings almost as if parents are drawn to a particular sound.
So, for example, I know siblings called:

Rachael and Michael
Cara, Carl and Erica
Ann, Susan and Jillian
Lynette and Suzette

I also knew a married couple called Tony and Toni

PhilomenaButterfly · 31/08/2018 18:58

I know a brother and sister, not twins, who have very similar sounding names which made me go Hmm when the girl was born, I can't mention them in case their mum's on here. I wouldn't want to offend her. Kind of like Daniel and Danielle.

You mean you've never encountered Elizabeth and Margaret, aka the Twins from Hell???

AHintOfStyle · 31/08/2018 19:13

Met a family on holiday once with four children. The three youngest ones aged around 6, 4 & 2 were called Tilly, Milly and Billy.
The oldest son, around 16/17 was called Jordan.

Annabelle4 · 31/08/2018 19:21

Really shitty thread OP.

I hope their mum is never aware that you've done this, and will spend the next few years wondering which one of her child's teachers it is that did this.

Hiding behind a name change, of course...

Iamagreyhoundhearmeroar · 31/08/2018 19:25

What about all the other posters who’ve told us about weirdly named siblings of their acquaintance? Are they going to be hunted down and beaten with sticks too?
Stop dramatising.

Juanbablo · 31/08/2018 19:29

Also on Teen Mom Briana has two daughters named Nova Star and Stella Star which is basically Star X 4!!

EwItsAHooman · 31/08/2018 19:38

SIL and BIL gave their eldest DS the shortened version of my eldest DS's name which I find bizarre. I'm not going to post the real name but think Harrison/Harry, Jonathan/John, Samuel/Sam, it's along those lines and is the only possible short version of DS's name. FIL did point it out to them when they said the name they were thinking of during pregnancy but they said it wasn't the same name and was a totally different name "no one uses as a short version of ", except that everyone does.

I know someone whose DC all have her first name as their middle name. They're all girls so far (four of them) but she's now pregnant with a boy and I wonder if he'll get the same or something different.

I know a sibling set who all have a double barrelled first name and are all called -Star so Eva-Star, Oliva-Star, Layla-Star (not their actual first names). Together they sound like a fleet of cruise liners.

I know two families where the children are named after their parents. So David Snr, Susan Snr, David Jnr, and Susan Jnr. I don't know how it's not really confusing.

I know someone who has used the same letter for all of her DC except one - Leanne, Liam, Zara, Lucy, Lily (again not real names). I feel bad for Zara, especially as this person is currently going through a divorce and has openly told everyone that Zara isn't her husband's child.

Fireinthegrate · 31/08/2018 19:39

Not read the whole thread but I work in a NHS clinic and came across this family

Dad was called James, first son, also James. Ok so far, but then followed, Jamie, Jimmy, And Jim. !

cloudyweewee · 31/08/2018 19:47

I once taught twin girls called Majeda and Shajeda.
Twins called Patrick and Patricia
3 male siblings called Kaylon, Kayton and Kaydon Confused

DrSeuss · 31/08/2018 19:59

Have taught siblings Michael and Michelle
Also siblings John and Liam, both being forms of the same name.
One particularly loud, rude and obnoxious parent named Sean named his kids Shaun and Shauna.

Dillydallyer · 31/08/2018 20:06

DH went to school with someone who named their twins Manny and Minnie. Friend of mine has an Olivia and an Oliver (not twins)

KnotsInMay · 31/08/2018 20:07

Jacob and James are not exactly the same name. They have a common root.

One is Hebrew via Greek, the other Later n via French.

And they are now actually different names in English. As are Ian and John, for example.... which are the same name through different language routes.

CherryCherryCherry · 31/08/2018 20:26

I knew a family where all the dcs had the same first initial (lets say p)when I asked the mum what they would do when they received post for them she said that would be ok as they all had middle names. Guess what letter they began with? Yeah the letter P! Remember hearing years ago of a family that moved from overseas to the uk and wanted their sons to fit in so changed their names to more english ones-Rob and Bob! Grin
