Just that really.... inspired by the recent sticker campaign.... "Women can't have penises" and "Some women have penises"....

Simple question - simple answer.

Me - Yes, I believe women can't have penises.

I suspect we have someone here who is trying to trip us up in order to get screenshots so they can be paraded around the internet as evidence of MN being the home of being terfy terfs.

They go low, we go high.

Sparklingbrook · 28/08/2018 19:47

OP still not back? Confused

SandraTheBee · 28/08/2018 19:47

I wouldn't car if anyone is trying to 'trip me up' though. I don't care what they think about my opinion of them.

SandraTheBee · 28/08/2018 19:49

I don't really care what people class themselves as long as they don't interfere with me in anyway. I could class myself as a king charles spaniel and go round barking.

RedDogsBeg · 28/08/2018 19:51

HavingALittleBabyToolshed I am sorry for what you have suffered and are still sufferingFlowers. This is what makes me so angry and sick to the stomach with this whole TRA agenda and the men and women who support it they are treating you and your colleagues with utter contempt and disdain, prioritising the feelings of men, trampling all over women and girls and spitting on them for good measure.

Adult and juvenile human females, commonly referred to as women and girls, have a right to safety, privacy and dignity, they have a right to spaces that are solely and exclusively for the use of women and girls only.

Male pride and hurt feelings should never, ever take precedence over safeguarding and the comfort and dignity of females.

AintNoCista · 28/08/2018 19:51

Sandra as long as you didn't expect to be let into boarding kennels then I'm sure no one would have a problem

standbyyourmammaryglands · 28/08/2018 19:52

dannytrans1969

I class myself as female

But biology tells you your not Danny. You can live as a female but ultimately your a Male.

shirleyschmidt · 28/08/2018 19:55

No, women don't have penises. I don't hate them but I don't accept that a trans woman is actually a woman just because a minority of people are opposed to the biological reality.

If activists get too militant in trying to force this argument, it will kill off a lot of sympathy from reasonable-minded people.

SandraTheBee · 28/08/2018 19:57

I believe it is my right to enter crafts in the pedigree dog class and forge my own vision as to what it really means to be a spaniel. ( I have pair of fake fur ears).

SchadenfreudePersonified · 28/08/2018 19:57

I was born female so I don’t need the trans pushed prefix of cis. Females have not needed it for a millennia and we don’t need it now thanks.

THIS ^

What a load of shite some of this is! People tying themselves in knots in their determination to be "accepting" and "inclusive".

I can accept anyones desire to dress etc as the opposite sex to the one they were born into. I don't have a problem with that. I can accept them wanting to live and "be" that opposite (though how any of us can "be" anyone except ourselves I don't know, even a person of the same sex - we don't "knowK how they feel, we just know how we feel).

What I can't accept is that declaring yourself to be a particular sex means that you are that sex - no you aren't. You are born into a sex whether you like it or not - gender is a different matter altogether and I agree shouldn't be forced on anyone.

It amazes me though that the trans- community seems to be very heavily weighted in favour of the male-to-female trans. Why? Or are they just more vociferous? Or are they not managing to excel in their birth sex, so they want to push into the opposite gender (like some sports people, so they can be "better" than others of their favoured gender?

PerfPower · 28/08/2018 20:11

A woman doesn't have a penis.

I've read ratrolypoly's posts (I've read some of them twice) and I can't make sense of them at all, can anyone else?

SPOFS · 28/08/2018 20:15

To those saying hat women can have penises:

Can you name me one thing all women (natal and trans) have in common?

standbyyourmammaryglands · 28/08/2018 20:16

Perf I struggled ! Grin

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 28/08/2018 20:19

I am Shock and Grin at people actually stating that women may have a penis Hmm Don't be so fucking ridiculous, men have penises and women have vaginas. This is Mumsnet FFS, how exactly do you think babies are made!

AnEPleaseBob · 28/08/2018 20:21

I don't really care what people class themselves as long as they don't interfere with me in anyway. I could class myself as a king charles spaniel and go round barking

Might be a problem if you demand a vet treats you though, and claim discrimination when they won't?

I class myself as female

Doesn't matter, if you're actually male. Words don't override biology.

IncrediblySturdyPyjamas · 28/08/2018 20:22

I've read ratrolypoly's posts (I've read some of them twice) and I can't make sense of them at all, can anyone else?

Yes they make perfect sense when you realise the person writing them is more about being cool and trendy and 'right-fucking-on' than about basic bloody common sense.

Everyone knows what a woman is - we all came out of one.

loveyouradvice · 28/08/2018 20:25

Gosh!!!!

I came back expecting a stream of Yesses and Noes.... And the debate has moved in so many different ways... endlessly fascinating, apart from sadly those oft repeated comments from one or two...

I was looking for a reality check ... to find out if my beliefs were echoed by most on here - or not... to find out what the wider world really thought as we head towards a huge and seismic change... and Yes I am terrified that our generation looks as if it is throwing women and girls under the bus, in a year that is celebrating all that suffragettes and those after them fought for.

It still shocks me that a simple comment like Women don't have penises can be seen as transphobic... and that indeed Safeguarding seems to be going out of the window, whether its the Girlguides or many schools.

I - like many I know - want to protect women and girls AND enable transpeople to live a life free of prejudice. And I want to live in a world that is breaking down gender barriers and stereotypes - which I thought five years ago was where we were heading - rather than reinforcing them.

loveyouradvice · 28/08/2018 20:27

Oh ... and the AIBU... I think from everything people have said on here, I am not being unreasonable to hold and voice my beliefs while not believing myself anti-trans... and in fact the voice of reason and sanity is loud on here.

You weren't very involved in your own thread. Confused

SandraTheBee · 28/08/2018 20:33

One thing that women and trans women have in common? Er they have a head?

RedDogsBeg · 28/08/2018 20:34

I've read ratrolypoly's posts (I've read some of them twice) and I can't make sense of them at all, can anyone else?

They make no sense because they are nonsense Perf.

SPOFS · 28/08/2018 20:37

@SandraTheBee

Men have heads too? So if having a head is what groups natal and trans women together, then arent natal men "women" too?

And wait, cats have heads as well! Are they "women" also?

Softleftpowerstance · 28/08/2018 20:38

It’s seen as transphobic as to repeatedly state it without context is obviously intended as an attack on trans women.

Personally I do not believe trans women are “women” and I object to calling myself cis. But I would never tell a trans woman she wasn’t a real woman in my view because it’s unnecessarily provocative and goady.

Intellectually I lean towards what many would call a TERF and do believe there are aspects of the current situation which are very problematic (such as the huge increase in teenage girls transitioning, the bullshit gender conservatism trans often seems to entail). But I do not think a disproportionate focus on (legitimate) issues around safe spaces shouldn’t ignore the fact that many trans people are suffering very real pain and don’t need to be taunted by the debate and a focus on their genitalia.

catgirl1976 · 28/08/2018 20:39

YANBU

Women do not have penises.

People cannot change sex.

Gender is a social construct.
