Just that really.... inspired by the recent sticker campaign.... "Women can't have penises" and "Some women have penises"....

Simple question - simple answer.

Me - Yes, I believe women can't have penises.

exactly??? so why is the distinction so important? just say women.

So what is it exactly that someone who has a male body, including penis and testicles, has in common with me, a woman? What is it exactly that makes that person a woman, apart from that they say so?

packupandgohome · 28/08/2018 17:27

Genz yes. Trans women feelings DO need to be validated. But those feelings do not take priority over the huge majority of natel women that have an issue with self ID and rightly so.

Yes transwomen do need to use safe spaces however opening the door up to allow self ID and being legally allowed acccess women’s safe spaces allows many men to use these protected spaces negativily.

Women faught for these spaces, the trans community need to fight for their own rights and not just take ours and then to start labelling us with a new name - takes the piss.

Gersemi · 28/08/2018 17:29

But then, not all men have penises. Where does this proclamation take you?

dontbringmedown · 28/08/2018 17:29

An intact man who wears a frock is not a woman

Exactly, being a woman isn't something you wear

Giggorata · 28/08/2018 17:29

I've been out all day and missed all this.....
Anyhoo
NOT a belief, a FACT.
Women do not have penises.

PyeWackets · 28/08/2018 17:29

because "woman" is an expression of identity; a combination of how someone identifies themselves and how we identify them. The most important of these is how they identify themselves. And frankly there is no better way to know how someone identifies themselves than them telling you. Easy.

versus

Adult human female, you choose....

WarmingUpWithHotCoffee · 28/08/2018 17:30

Oh come on ... enough of the hate.

MN - can you delete this thread?

HavingALittleBabyToolshed · 28/08/2018 17:30

ciswomen

^ you see this phrase? It is bollocks. Out and out bollocks. It makes a woman a subset of woman. It is trite shit.

When can I identify out of the realities of womanhood?

AnEPleaseBob · 28/08/2018 17:30

But then, not all men have penises. Where does this proclamation take you?

A man with his penis removed is still a man.

FermatsTheorem · 28/08/2018 17:30

No, women don't have penises.

There are some people with penises who wish, very sincerely indeed, that they had been born women, and who very much believe that they "are" women trapped in a man's body. I don't for an instant doubt the sincerity of their beliefs, and recognise that it must be very hard for them to cope with life. If "presenting" as female (i.e. conforming to a certain, socially-defined set of stereotypes) makes them feel more comfortable, crack on. I have no issue with calling them by their choice of name, and using their choice of pronouns. I do draw the line at them entering women's spaces (communal changing rooms, domestic violence shelters, rape crisis centres, women's prisons) or trying to compete in women's sport. However, I will happily help them campaign for "third spaces."

There is of course a second category of people with penises who insist on being called she, who are unequivocally in it for the sexual kicks - and they can fuck off to the far side of fuck. It will be a cold day in hell before I refer to the likes of Davina Ayrton as "she".

BiologyIsReal · 28/08/2018 17:30

I'm really not going to answer that. But if you're asking because you think I'm bullshitting this is a topic I've debated an awful lot on here.

Fine: can't see why you wouldn't but that's your prerogative.

I don't think you are bullshitting BTW. I am sure you believe you are correct in your view. But I thought it might inform the debate if we knew what sport you are expert in. There's quite a lot of difference between, say, athletics and bowls.

Although Buffalo Bill did......

AnEPleaseBob · 28/08/2018 17:31

*Oh come on ... enough of the hate8

I agree, enough of the hate towards women. Enough telling us that we are nothing, enough eroding us, enough taking. Enough hate.
Stop telling us that we are not what we are, that men are women.

Collaborate · 28/08/2018 17:32

People can change sex. People can also act like complete cunts and start threads bashing a highly marginalised section of society.

BertrandRussell · 28/08/2018 17:32

the suicide rates for transgender people who are mocked and belittled for the way they feel are terrifying"
References please?

FloraFox · 28/08/2018 17:32

People can change sex

How?

AnEPleaseBob · 28/08/2018 17:33

whatever. this opinion is dying out anyway, and i let the students at my school know that their sexual organs don’t equate to gender necessarily. peace out, cissies

But their sexual organs do equate to their SEX? They do know that, do they? Do you?

Stop using the word gender when you mean sex, because you can't even join the discussion while you can;t get that one right

AlphaBravo · 28/08/2018 17:33

What I find more concerning is that so many people wanting to be 'Women' are so happy to charge ahead and pull down the protections in place for Women - that would protect them, too, if they had their wish... it's sickening and like something out of a dystopian fiction.

The idiocy behind the agenda is beyond words.

Mrbatmun · 28/08/2018 17:33

whatever.

Wow, what a coherent and well presented argument.

HavingALittleBabyToolshed · 28/08/2018 17:33

So you think people should validate people with penises by calling them women but the majority of us who ask not to be called “cis” are not worthy of the same curtesy. Interesting choice.

BertrandRussell · 28/08/2018 17:34

bashing a highly marginalised section of society."
Can you give me some examples of this marginalisation, please?

AnEPleaseBob · 28/08/2018 17:34

People can change sex

How do they do that then?

People can also act like complete cunts and start threads bashing a highly marginalised section of society

Yes so if you could stop bashing women, that would be great. Not calling you that obviously, but if thats how you feel?

Gersemi · 28/08/2018 17:34

A man with his penis removed is still a man.

Precisely. Which makes it silly to focus on possessing a penis as the sole arbiter.

Mrbatmun · 28/08/2018 17:34

People can change sex.

Really?! How?
