Don't get me wrong she seems like a lovely lady and does have some useful tips but AIBU to think she cleans alot and often. As a single mum I don't hardly have anytime during the day to do this amount of cleaning! Now it's making me feel bad that I don't clean this much 😂

Assumptions - welcome to MN Instagram threads, they're pathetic. As you say, they can't do right whatever they do.
Also oldgimmer shows that it really is a case of each to their own, everyone likes different things as to me the appeal of Mrs H is her personality, a cleaning account in total silence sounds extremely dull to me.

It's Instagram. Surely everyone knows by now that anyone who has a swipe up to amazon/other website thingy is getting a cut from sales? I didn't think it had to be formally announced.

WhatsthematteryouHEY · 17/09/2018 07:02

No, everyone does not know. Some people only find out when they read threads like this. And yes it does have to be formally announced, the ASA rules are very specific on this issue.

GulagMilkMonitor · 17/09/2018 07:35

Nope everyone does not know.
In the same way people don’t know when there is a product placement in a TV show.
Just because you know or people who follower a lot of influencers know, does not mean everyone else does. Most people on social media are following their friends, family, colleagues and very select few celebs. Many only stumble across influencers by accident, they have no idea microinfluncers exist or what standards they are being held to. Lots of people have zero idea that affiliate links even exist or that PR companies dole out products.

Mrs Hinch’s home is not my vibe, it’s not my type of cleaning, I don’t like that much consumerism, unnecessary harsh pollutants or plastics in my home but I do think she has a great personality and I hope she does well from this.
I think she needs to be very careful about the affiliate stuff because this really is what they are cracking down on.
I also think if she wants to make this a career and have large media appearances she will need to develop a thick skin to deal with both genuine criticism and the nastier stuff that will come down the line.

scotx · 17/09/2018 08:02

I reckon she'll be signed to Gleam by the end of today.

squiz81 · 17/09/2018 08:05

She seems nice from the IG stories I've watched. I would now like to use her "influence" for good... encourage all of her hincharmy to move to more eco cleaning methods! I could weep seeing dishwasher tablets just chucked down the sink and zoflora poured everywhere.

I'd rather see links to steam cleaners, boxes of bicarbonate of soda and bulk buys of vinegar.

SlimmingMumOf1 · 17/09/2018 08:07

I don't even know this Mrs Hinch? I am not buying expensive products just to make my house smell nice. I am quite happy with the few that I have! I have a dettol spray for the kitchen and bathroom, I use zoflora for the sink and washing machine (to clean it out and make it smell nice), and I use one smelly in the bathroom... that'll do Confused

rainbowsandsmiles · 17/09/2018 08:33

I'm sure there's plenty of eco friendly cleaning accounts out there, it's kind of bizarre watching one not to your taste that makes you want to weep.
It's obviously not your thing, so it's not rocket science to watch one that is instead of moaning that it's not eco friendly.

You do know that you don't have to rush out and buy everything just because she does, right?
I follow her now and I do it what's right for me. I certainly don't follow every single tip but just enjoy the motivation and the account.

GulagMilkMonitor · 17/09/2018 08:55

Don’t we have a responsibility to discuss the over use of plastics?

You do know that you don't have to rush out and buy everything just because she does, right?

Of course no one has to rush out and buy anything. However she is clearly very influential, shops are selling out of her recommendations, she seems to now be in contact or working with brands she likes (good for her) but that is for a reason. These brands don’t throw products and advertising around to people who give them no return.
She obviously, for some reason, evokes a feeling that sends thousands of women rushing to the shops to part with money for near little plastic bottles of smelly stuff.
That’s why the brands are excited by her.

As an abstract, removed from Mrs Hinch, that’s worth talking about. It’s worth understanding how this works, what the responsibilities of the influencers are and also when they need to take stock and think about how they are shaping their sphere of influence for the good or the bad. When do they become more than “just a little IG account, so please don’t have an opinion about me that I don’t like” or a business? It’s hard when people are trading/doing business based on their personality.

I think it’s a very interesting topic and Mrs Hinch is a great case study, especially when it comes to the elements of her army who are very quick to shout “bullies” if someone doesn’t like grey or some much nastier stuff I’ve seen on that Facebook page, some of which warrants a call to the police.

rainbowsandsmiles · 17/09/2018 09:02

Don’t we have a responsibility to discuss the over use of plastics?

I'm mindful of watching how much plastics I use, recycle everything I do use and minimise using it in the first place. Yes,people should be more mindful too, but you're not the plastic police telling people to change their account and their usp just because it's not sitting comfortably with you.
People are grown ups capable of making their own decisions.

rainbowsandsmiles · 17/09/2018 09:06

She's apparently going to be on This Morning this morning Smile

Thesearmsofmine · 17/09/2018 09:41

I said earlier on in the thread that I like her and she’s fun but yes she does need to be disclosing properly. Many people have no idea about affiliate links. It pays to be clear about these things, it shows honesty and nothing can come back to bite you at a later date.

Skyejuly · 17/09/2018 10:01

Totally agree plastics :(

SmallButFierce · 17/09/2018 10:50

I find it very disturbing how little regard so many people seem to have to the environment. I joined the We Love Mrs H FB page to see what all the fuss was about and was amazed by the sheer volume of products people and especially the sloshing of Zoflora everywhere. We all - and especially these IG influencer types - need to take responsibility for how our actions affect the world around us.

WhatsGoingOnEh · 17/09/2018 10:56

She's on This Morning at 11.45. I hope she'll have time to get home and do some cleaning later! I need my Hinchy hits. 😆

It'd be ironic if she got so famous that she had to employ cleaners to look after all her homes. 🤔

squiz81 · 17/09/2018 11:12

@GulagMilkMonitor has very nicely explained exactly what I was thinking.

My point was she is now an influencer. Shops have sold out of cleaning products she promotes. I would like it if that could be channelled in a more positive way. I'm not going to apologise for being upset to seeing people pour crazy amounts of chemicals into the water system and waste more single use plastic!

As for it not being my thing, well no it isn't, which is why I don't follow her. I have watched some of her stories as I was curious what the fuss was about (news articles about her kept popping up in my feed). It's not really that bizarre to watch something and then decide you disagree.

squiz81 · 17/09/2018 11:13

Bold fail on that top bit. I wish you could just quote people on MN!!

rainbowsandsmiles · 17/09/2018 11:15

I'll be watching This Morning.Smile Just been doing a bit of cleaning here, then cup of tea time and watching telly lol.

GrimSqueaker · 17/09/2018 11:37

I have no issues with the internet cleaning guru thing (hell I loosely follow TOMM - apart from Focus Friday which I've re-formulated into Fuck-That Friday) but I DO have issues when some doughnut is telling people to ram 97 different chemical compounds down their toilet like some kind of Harry Potter potions class cauldron of fuck-knows what.

That's just bloody dangerous and idiotic and asking to make yourself ill, dead, flammable or shitting fucking zoflora scent.

Internet cleaning groupies are just fucking terrifying whichever leader they've decided to appoint as their deity though. The zoflora cultism is bloody ridiculous (it's nicely pongy concentrated fucking disinfectant not the elixir of life you muppets) and the "hauls" of the cleaning aisle. Then they all come on here brandishing appalling grammar and zoflora like some overly fragrant flash mob who've been at the toilet cauldron of chemicals fumes and it all goes to shit for a while.

Clean your house - just ditch the amateur chemistry experiments... if it's flammable - it's really not a good idea to be spraying it everywhere... sooner or later someone's house is going to go up in an overly scented bonfire with the way the zoflora addiction is taking over the world.

Nowt wrong with grey though - my house is mostly grey as a base colour to take pops of colour over it.

rainbowsandsmiles · 17/09/2018 11:57

Just watched her on This Morning, she seems lovely. Makes me Smile
Not tried that Pink Stuff before, going to have to try and find some for our oven.

PaddysMarket · 17/09/2018 12:01

I've watched it too and she has come across really well, I still don't feel the need to stockpile or join her army but she did make me smile with the "whats going on mate" and "all the best".

Mytype · 17/09/2018 12:03

Who cares if she is getting paid or not disclosing if she is! Who really actually cares? Does it affect your life?? No! And if it does you seriously need to get a hobbie or even clean. And all this environment talk! Everyone could help the environment. I think it’s actually sad and pathetic how you people come on here and complain about someone cleaning! You lot are all jealous. All the best!

WhatsGoingOnEh · 17/09/2018 12:04

She just makes me smile, and she makes me CLEAN! Which I've never experienced wanting to do before!

You could tell Phil & Holly both really, really liked her.

Well done Mrs Hinch! You were literally great, literally.
