Don't get me wrong she seems like a lovely lady and does have some useful tips but AIBU to think she cleans alot and often. As a single mum I don't hardly have anytime during the day to do this amount of cleaning! Now it's making me feel bad that I don't clean this much 😂

Just read that article:

"I have many cleaning baskets," Sophie said. "Consisting of a weekly basket and a daily one. I would say that organising my cleaning products is the biggest thing that I enjoy.

Please Mrs Hinch tell us that is in the context of cleaning onlySmile

OftenHangry · 14/09/2018 08:34

@Pamdoo probably😁
Well I am going for squary sqeezy mop. I was interested because I am looking for new one.

PaddysMarket · 14/09/2018 08:53

I'm a cleaner and I hate when I need to use the spray mops, I feel they do not make a good job of cleaning a floor. The only good thing is the floor dries much quicker compared to a mop and bucket.

Pinkyponkcustard · 14/09/2018 08:54

@oftenhangry ooh report back and let us know what the deal is

OftenHangry · 14/09/2018 08:58

Iam not getting spray one @Pinkyponkcustard. Squarish one, but which you can rinse and squeeze while mopping. Apparently the squarey ones are great for corners.
Thank you @PaddysMarket good to hear professional opinion!

WhatsthematteryouHEY · 14/09/2018 09:19

You know, PinkyPonk, I think she's onto something. It's finding pleasure in simple things I suppose. Better in a lot of ways than the rampant quest to acquire expensive stuff that a lot of other instagram accounts promote. (chemicals and stockpiling aside)

Pamdoo · 14/09/2018 09:20

@oftenhangry let us know how you get on with it!

Pamdoo · 14/09/2018 09:26

Ahh, she comes across really really well in this article

She always does come across as genuinely lovely and funny. She's a stunner as well! It's some of her sheep cult followers that are the issue and some of her methods and ethics regarding advertising I don't like.

WhatsthematteryouHEY · 14/09/2018 09:31

I agree @Pamdoo. It's interesting how some of the other cleaning accounts don't attract the same intensity of feeling within the fanbase.

Pinkyponkcustard · 14/09/2018 12:55

Maybe you’re right @whatsthematteryouHEY (great name) and I’m all for lightening the mental load.

I just feel like we fought for all this free time - why are we spending it obsessively cleaning?
I hope Hinch Army doesn’t to lie on their deathbed and wish they’d put minkeh to bed properly more often

ashleywhit · 14/09/2018 14:55

Oh my I've just found her and LOVE her!! I hated cleaning but she's just made me so excited about it lol! (Sound so sad) I've tidied all my cupboards out and sorted all my products! I do have a child and will be using alot of her hacks! It's harmless cleaning fun!

ElspethFlashman · 14/09/2018 19:07

I do think she makes massive work for herself though. I mean, she's cleaning things that aren't dirty. And I wonder if it's a bit of compulsive behaviour.

Cos last night she used two different sprays on a spotless sink, mate. And put a dishwasher tablet down the plughole. Apparently she does this weekly? (Not always with the tablet, that's just for really lazy days apparently)

I just don't think it needs two different sprays tbh.

I like her, she's nice and she's gorgeous, but she seems to be a bit obsessive about invisible dirt.

I suppose I'd prefer if there was some insight into it, some balance, like "I'm using two sprays but I'm a bit obsessive, you definitely don't have to do that, so don't worry"

I'm worried that she's normalising obsessive cleaning when her audience seems to lap up every word.

So far there are definitely some "areas of improvement" on her account, disclosure of affiliate links and gifted items for review, the usage of products against manufacturers advice, and the lack of insight as to how her cleaning routine may need to evolve in general.

Bloody hell the BBC are reporting on her!

nikkip75 · 14/09/2018 21:22

ElspethFlashman I agree 100% with your comments. I couldn’t put my finger on why I didn’t feel right about the whole thing but this is it.

I see today she’s addressed the whole trolling issue on her stories which made me see her in a better light again. It’s pathetic that women are trolling over cleaning products.

PaddysMarket · 14/09/2018 21:24

I've had a nosey at her fb, the amount of articles she has done is unreal! All this fuss over cleaning tho I'm glad she has said in one that cleaning shower screens can be tricky as I'm a cleaner and I hate doing them.

OftenHangry · 14/09/2018 21:26

@Pamdoo will do in a couple of weeks 😁

Skyejuly · 14/09/2018 21:26

Brilliant post Elspeth.

OftenHangry · 14/09/2018 21:41

I've just realised after checking her profile again (while showing my husband the hob flower thing😂) that was wrong Shock
I said it her house was just sooo grey.

It's not! It's grey and magnolia like colour. Why does she put the filter on? I dispise magnolia, but even I have to admit it looks better than grey. Her floor is wonderful timber shade as well!
It's such a shame to hide it imho!
Even her kitchen units don't look that grey. I love the house without filter to be fair!

bijoubijou · 14/09/2018 22:34

I like Mrs Hinch... I don’t really know why? Probs just band wagon jumping because to be fair she only shows cleaning her sink and plugs and doesn’t do anything remotely groundbreaking. I have deffo been influenced into some pine smellies. I have noticed she’s hardly doing cleaning videos at the moment which I’m a bit puzzled as that’s why we are all following along. It’s like I’m following a fan page not a cleaning account and I’m getting a bit bored now.

HeavenlyEyes · 15/09/2018 00:07

I think she is very busy talking to the media after the new found fame. I reckon she will be on This Morning by next week. Hope all the attention doesn't spoil her.

Especially when the lady in question has came on herself and said how hurt she is

Did she? I totally missed that. Hi MrsH! I've put my sink to bed every night since I discovered you. I love it 😍

ImNotReallyAWaitress · 15/09/2018 14:41

If Mrs Hinch has been here herself to discuss the content of the thread then she doesn’t need other people in here berating posters for their views of her.

“You can be the ripest, juiciest peach in the world, there’ll still be somebody who doesn’t like peaches”

Saying someone’s house is too grey isn’t bullying or tearing to shreds, it’s a personal opinion. Posting yourself / your home publicly on the internet is going to invite those types of opinions, good and bad.
No one forces anyone to read here.

GuavaPalava · 15/09/2018 15:26

Someone needs to feed back to her that it's absolutely crucial to declare affiliation to brands. So any links to purchase in which Mrs H makes a commission must be clearly signposted.

And it's not enough to put them in a pale colour so it can't be properly seen or at the end or do them like this ...#af .... that's not sufficient. Write the word affiliate in full and make sure it's at the beginning as the rules are that someone reading knows what's what prior to reading on.

It's really important you do this because otherwise you'll be reported to the ASA and with jealous people out there who want what you have achieved, this is going to happen sooner or later. It's so simple to do. Just declare properly on every single link

assumptionsmakeanarseofuandme · 15/09/2018 15:42

Lynsey Queen of Clean doesn’t declare affiliates and she’s been around since the dawn of time and has an agent so I’m sure if it was necessary, she would be doing it?
