To really fucking hate our dog

Jesus.

Both dh and I are on the verge of killing him. He barks at fuck all at any hour of the night.

He wakes our own children up and also next doors as he sets their dog off.

The dog is ruining our relationship, our children’s sleep and our relationship with the neighbours

We are in despair.

Op I felt like this about my youngest when she was up all night, every night for months on end! We got a sleep trainer in the end.

God knows what you can do but you have my exhausted sympathies

Hope OP will forgive me for side-tracking, but the similar post - problematic pet (cat pissing everywhere, they had her for 8 years - a bit like 7 years of this dog here) - has almost everyone, def. more than here, saying "re-home, re-home, re-home". Some even said put it down ... (that's awful)

The general gist of the cat problem is: "your family must come first and I'd certainly think about re-homing." Everyone is sympathetic to the cat owner, while this OP is being criticised even for her language about the dog. So why is dog-owning family not coming "first"? What's so special about dogs vs. cats? I hate these double standards.

I wasn't the one who suggested muzzling. Yes, "Dogs don't bark all night unless something is wrong in the environment", true, as true is the fact that cats don't piss everywhere unless there's something wrong. But some people suggested putting the cat down - now that is cruel.

Any problematic pet, regardless if it's a cat or dog, deserves some initial efforts. if this has been exhausted/not feasible for some reasons, then giving them up for adoption should be seen as blame-free wayout. But I don't see it on this thread; people assume the owner is at fault/hasn't done enough. Just because she has a dog, not a cat?

SoyDora · 24/08/2018 11:14

The OP stated fairly early on that she categorically will not be rehoming the dog, so I imagine that’s why more people didn’t suggest it.

MaMaMaMySharona · 24/08/2018 11:18

OP why haven't you answered any of the questions about training?

MarthasGinYard · 24/08/2018 11:24

Op gives vague very Op

Short answers or no answers

Don't think she wants help as such

Just a moan

I see. Sorry then. I do feel for the family. And the dog. Maybe she just wanted a moan/vent. Hope they all will be better soon, somehow. No sleep is dangerous.
