Gender neutral/disabled toilets

I was at a venue which had a sign up for male and female loos with another sign pointing to gender neutral and disabled loos. I went to use the disabled loo and realised that there wasn’t a gender neutral toilet at all, it was a shared gender neutral/disabled toilet.

Is this normal? I’m a bit baffled by it - there’s only one toilet and quite often it’s literally the only one the disabled person can access. Or they urgently need to get to a toilet.

I’m going to write a review of the venue’s accessibility (which promises to be great on its website then isn’t) and I’m not sure if this is totally normal and I’m just being OTT expecting disabled loos to be for disabled people?

I don't think it's either patronising or misrepresenting you to think you are referring to people who oppose self-ID being the same ones who think anyone should be able to use the disabled loos

Given that I’m vocally opposed to self ID and, in fact, didn’t say anything about those opposed to self ID, you’re reaching.

So yes, it was patronising and you did misrepresent what I said.

What I meant was that if they were so happy to have gender neutral people in their toilets they wouldn’t be deciding that it’s disabled people who should have their facilities commandeered.

How you interpret that is neither up to me, nor my problem.

Now if you’d care to refrain from making up things I never said and attributing them to me, and stop derailing the thread, I’ll be happy to have a sensible conversation.

If not, fair enough.

To clarify, once again, it was non disabled people deciding who should and shouldn’t access the disabled toilets because they don’t want their own toilets to become gender neutral people that I was pissed off with.

I am still struggling to understand what you are saying, however, as you say that's my problem not yours so I shall refrain from engaging with you further.

Non disabled people have no fucking right to force their views onto disabled people regarding the use of disabled toilets.

There. Better?

Self ID is not only bullshit, it’s potentially dangerous and has far, far too many implications for removing safe spaces for women and girls.

Third space is needed.

However, if you’re not disabled don’t commandeer disabled toilets because you don’t want to face the issue!

No idea how you couldn’t understand that. But well done for derailing and making it clear that the rights of disabled people aren’t important 👏🏼
