Was I unreasonable fo fart in bed?

Ok... so let me explain myself!

Last night I went to bed early feeling unwell, my stomach was bloated and I felt really uncomfortable and unsure why. I suffer with IBS so thought I'd maybe had something that upset my stomach.

3am I woke up with a terrible pain in my stomach which felt like trapped wind. I was in so much pain I didn't even want to move from my bed.

So on advice when this has happened before I got myself into a position to relieve the wind... basically head down ass up! Grin

After a couple of seconds of rocking in this position, I farted! It's never felt so good. Grin

So my DP wakes up from the sound of my large fart and tells me I'm disgusting and won't accept my explanation.

WIBU?

If you were in pain he should have been understanding & relieved the releasing of the wind made you feel better.

He sounds a knob !!

RafikiIsTheBest · 20/08/2018 11:13

I too have IBS and have felt that pain. I'm sometimes in so much pain that getting out of bed would be impossible. My DP is bloody lovely and understanding and has in the past woken and helped rub my back or stomach until I've managed to fart, after fetching me some rennies for wind and a hot wheat bag.
IMO it's a medical condition and I'm sure if you were puking into a bowl because you were too dizzy to walk to the bathroom he'd be a bit more understanding. I don't see it any differently.

LoisCommonDenominator84 · 20/08/2018 11:14

So your husband has never, in the history of your marriage, farted in bed? Better out than in love, fart away I say!

Aprilshowersinaugust · 20/08/2018 11:14

Yabu not to have gone to the bathroom imo.
Been with dh for 6 years and he has never heard me fart!!

I think this is crazy!

We have been together 8 years and always fart in front of each other, if needs must! But have always had an agreed rule tbh about no farting in bed, but this really couldn't be helped on this occasion!

Oh for god sake, he's upset with you for farting? Does he not like it when you breathe either?

Next time trap his head under the duvet

RavenLG · 20/08/2018 11:17

I don’t actively fart in front of my DP but April I bet your other half has heard you fart. You’ve got no control of your sphincter in your sleep! Plus if you don’t have ibs you can’t understand the pain and sometimes walking out of the room is an impossibility, OP has a medical condition and her husband was an arse about it.

FuckPants · 20/08/2018 11:17

The couples that fart together, stay together.

TheDishRanAwayWithTheSpoon · 20/08/2018 11:17

YANBU! Firstly it's just a fart, has he really never farted in front of you? Secondly you were in pain.
If you'd gone to the bathroom he probably would have still heard you anyway. AprilShowers I bet your DH has heard you fart

oSorryNotSorryo · 20/08/2018 11:18

GrinGrin it wasn't under the sheets. He woke to my arse in the air still just after it happened!

My DP and I happily fart in front of each other; dare I say it we find it amusing. It's a sign of being relaxed. If we suspect it's going to be smelly we might do it elsewhere.

Fang2468 · 20/08/2018 11:19

🤷‍♀️ Could you really not have done it in the bathroom? I say this as someone with IBD too.

Sparklingbrook · 20/08/2018 11:19

I would probably be more annoyed at you rocking 'head down ass up' in bed while I was trtying to sleep.

mostdays · 20/08/2018 11:20

I would think my dh was an absolute twat if he really believed I shouldn't fart in his presence.

SerenDippitty · 20/08/2018 11:20

Of course you were not unreasonable. He should have been glad you’d relieved the pain.

Shoxfordian · 20/08/2018 11:21

It was so loud it woke him up! Wow impressive Grin
I would definitely be calling my husband disgusting if he did this as well, you could have gone to the bathroom op instead of getting into position(!)and stinking up the bedroom.

Stuckinthis · 20/08/2018 11:21

Trapped wind is up with labour pains. You can tell some posters have never had it if they feel you shouldn’t have farted in bed. There is no way in hell I’d be getting out of bed to relieve that.

Your DH is being utterly unreasonable and should have been more supportive.

WHAT91 · 20/08/2018 11:21

If I was able to get into that position then I'd probably have gone elsewhere for some farting privacy. I can't imagine it would have been nice to wake up to a huge loud fart that had been building up for hours 🤢

oSorryNotSorryo · 20/08/2018 11:21

Could you really not have done it in the bathroom?

I was in a lot of pain and wanted to relieve that pain as quickly as possibly and not suffer even more by trying to make it to the bathroom.

Wow. We've been together for 26 years and there's no way I could have held them in that long Wink

We celebrate farts here. It is s source of great amusement. Farting is a normal bodily function and in my own home I am very much happy to let rip when needed.

serbska · 20/08/2018 11:24

That’s fucking gross actually.

As if you couldn’t have staggered a few steps to the bathroom.

Fang2468 · 20/08/2018 11:25

Ok but it’s only a fart, it’s not doing you any damage.

Mojitomogul · 20/08/2018 11:26

In the mornings, especially after a curry the night before, me and my partner basically communicate only through farts. Grin we are very relaxed! Would hate to have to hold it in haha.

SpunBodgeSquarepants · 20/08/2018 11:26

When I had appendicitis I mistook the pain for trapped wind... no YANBU
