Was I unreasonable fo fart in bed?

Ok... so let me explain myself!

Last night I went to bed early feeling unwell, my stomach was bloated and I felt really uncomfortable and unsure why. I suffer with IBS so thought I'd maybe had something that upset my stomach.

3am I woke up with a terrible pain in my stomach which felt like trapped wind. I was in so much pain I didn't even want to move from my bed.

So on advice when this has happened before I got myself into a position to relieve the wind... basically head down ass up! Grin

After a couple of seconds of rocking in this position, I farted! It's never felt so good. Grin

So my DP wakes up from the sound of my large fart and tells me I'm disgusting and won't accept my explanation.

WIBU?

@Aprilshowersinaugust That’s funny - didn’t you say in another post just yesterday that you’ve had ‘many natural births...’? Confused

OftenHangry · 20/08/2018 13:25

Just so you all knows EVERYONE farts a little when they sleep.

PuppyMonkey · 20/08/2018 13:25

Never failed to be amazed at the number of people on MN who find the idea of farting in front of their partners “mortifying”.Confused

I mean, this is the person who you have sex with, see naked regularly, care for when poorly, possibly have kids with, live with in a shared space - but you couldn’t do a measly fart in front of them?Hmm

Baffling.

NoArmaniNoPunani · 20/08/2018 13:26

Bloody hell. I farted on a bloke when he was going down on me once and even that didn't end the relationship.

Vitalogy · 20/08/2018 13:28

Stuck not stood my arse in the air* Stood is funnier.

What's you plan for future blow outs OP?

Aprilshowersinaugust · 20/08/2018 13:29

Yes but only 1 dc to new dh and was a section.

OftenHangry · 20/08/2018 13:29

@NoArmaniNoPunaniGrin

That's apparently a compliment to him. He got you so relaxed and "up to the heavens" Wink you couldn't concentrate on holding it in.

oSorryNotSorryo · 20/08/2018 13:33

What's you plan for future blow outs OP?

I'd do the same again if needs must!

dp and I have an agreement to never do it in front of each other if we can avoid it. I have ibs and if I was in that pain and needed to fart i deffo would not be doing it in the bed.. far too risky that the rest would follow!

oSorryNotSorryo · 20/08/2018 13:34

oSorryNotSorryo since you offered... please draw a diagram

You will regret asking to see my attempt at drawing but give me a few minutes and I'll give it a go! Grin

Wait until he sees you shart yourself during childbirth.

Seriously though if a long term partner can't cope with a fart, he's not really a keeper.

MrHoolieswaistcoat · 20/08/2018 13:37

Genuinely shocked at how many people find this ‘disgusting’ and agree that they must have had pretty sheltered lives.
I had a boyfriend who did the loudest most noxious farts 💨 on every thrust the first time we had sex. I used to smoke then but refrained from a post coital cigarette as I was scared the room would go up. Now that’s disgusting.
It was also the last time we ever had sex.

serbska · 20/08/2018 13:37

Seriously though if a long term partner can't cope with a fart, he's not really a keeper.

There is a difference between a 'just slipped out' fart and 'stick your bum in the air and force out a massive one'.

Stuckinthis · 20/08/2018 13:39

And if you can’t understand why someone feels the needed to force it out, then you have quite obviously never experienced the crippling pain of trapped wind.

skunkatanka · 20/08/2018 13:42

I've had two children, the births of which my dh attended. At the first, I definitely did a small poo. At the second I had a cord prolapse and the midwife had to grab the cord from up inside me to keep it away from the baby while my dh watched.
Honestly, a fart is nothing.

WhatWouldCoachBombayDo · 20/08/2018 13:46

I literally shat myself in bed next to DH, I mean explosive diarrhea! He said nothing except help me to the bathroom, and cleaned up the bedroom and changed the sheets whilst I showered.

I was in agony woke up gripping my stomach, and I foolishly farted but followed through 😂 we bonded that day haha!

He just laughs about it now. He didn't even grumble that evening just helped.

Your DP is being unreasonable. If your unwell your unwell 🤷

IceBearRocks · 20/08/2018 13:48

Jeez...we've only got 2 toilets and with a DH and 3 kids you'd never be able to get in one with all the trumping that goes on in the house !?!!

OftenHangry · 20/08/2018 13:51

@WhatWouldCoachBombayDo I guess you win the best relationship award! 😂

oSorryNotSorryo · 20/08/2018 13:54

Ok so this is as good as it's going to get

oSorryNotSorryo · 20/08/2018 13:58

I have just realised thou that my legs would not be outstretched like that when my ass is in the air! 🤣🤣

LoisCommonDenominator84 · 20/08/2018 14:00

Wow OP are you actually Kim Kardashian? Looking good in that diagram girl! I’m sure there are plenty of blokes who would do anything to have a lady like you fart in their bed Wink

Drivemecrazy1974 · 20/08/2018 14:01

I'm going to be in the minority here and say you were being unreasonable, sorry!
In the 24 years I've been with my husband neither of us has purposely farted in front of each other - it's gross and so disrespectful. Go to the bloody toilet and do it, why would you think it's acceptable to do that in front of each other? yuck...
