What's happened to having a bit of pride in yourself?

I am genuinely asking this question out of curiosity not being inflammatory but I will no doubt be accused of this in typical mnet style! Anyway here goes-

I don't understand why some women are so proud of the fact that the first thing they do when they get home is to take their bra off and put pjs on.

A) I don't have time as when I get in from work there's stuff to do.
B) why would you want to sit there with everything dangling about

I think it is much better for your state of mind to have a bit of pride In Yourself, to wear a bit of makeup, clean clothes, brush your hair etc. On another note if your bra is so uncomfortable you're wearing the wrong bra!

I have complete pride in myself.

I'm proud that I can go to work, come home - find time to whip my bra off whilst still wearing my top, put lounge pants on and STILL find time to raise a disabled child single handedly!

UpstartCrow · 18/08/2018 23:15

Remember the Malcolm in the Middle episode where Lois joins a book club?

What's happened to having a bit of pride in yourself?
Bouledeneige · 18/08/2018 23:19

I'm very proud of myself. I hold a very senior and intellectually demanding job and people respect me for my passion and drive and authenticity. And I'm funny.

I'm also a really loving and fun Mum who's there for my kids - I got them through my divorce and now through major exams. I managed to keep the house when I split with my XH and have done well. Everything I have I earned myself.

Why the fuck it matters what I wear when when I get home is nobodies business. I don't have PJs but I walk straight through the door and start cooking their supper. I might put on a leggings and a slouchy top. Who cares? I'm queen of my castle.

I'm fat, I prioritise my kids, my work and then my friends. I don't have a lot of time for the gym etc but I'd like to get fit again.

And by the way I don't give a damn what anyone else does either! Good for you! We make our own lives what they are. Don't want to live anyone else's.

pasttimes11 · 18/08/2018 23:20

I love my pj bottoms. I have about 8 pairs. Because thev've got nice elasticated waists i can wear them comfortably without my roll of fat bulging over the top. I put them on as soon as i get in. Not for bed though, i like bare legs in bed.

Fabricwitch · 18/08/2018 23:20

So your proud of your bra-wearing skills?

YABU. I never wear make-up, sometimes wear a bra, but am proud of all my skills and accomplishments.

GrumpyOldMare · 18/08/2018 23:22

Those who get changed into pyjamas when you get in from work - does that mean you get into bed wearing the same PJs you've been pottering round the house in for the last few hours?

No. I sleep naked.

WillowPeach · 18/08/2018 23:23

Until very recently I was one of those women who couldn’t wait to take my bra off at the end of the day - then I discovered non-underwired bras and don’t feel in a hurry to take it off.

I don’t think it’s fair to judge those who do - you’re in you’re own home, why sit around uncomfortably when it’s not necessary? A lot of office attire, jeans etc may be comfy whilst out and about but not the most comfy for lounging on the sofa. I’d be more inclined to judge those who go to the store wearing their pjs.

AngelsAckiz · 18/08/2018 23:28

Are you a transwoman OP? lmao

Aaaahfuck · 18/08/2018 23:31

OP not sure why you posted if you didn't want shit for your outdated views.

Also if you've got large breasts no bra is that comfortable after 10 hours.

OftenHangry · 18/08/2018 23:38

Those who get changed into pyjamas when you get in from work - does that mean you get into bed wearing the same PJs you've been pottering round the house in for the last few hours ?

Nope. Sleep without pj. Anything in fact. And when I used to sleep in pjs, I had separate ones. Lounge ones and sleep ones.

I also change for garden work, however, I always keep moaning it's uncomfortable 😂

OftenHangry · 18/08/2018 23:49

In the area where I live, people are soooo relax with this.
Yet it's not a shitty area. It's full of people who work hard so when they come home, they want to be comfy. Think nurses, tradsmen and like us people working 14 hours a day in their businesses and retirees who worked hard their whole life.

I hope you never move into this kind of area tbh. People like you would ruin it. Old man in their seventees would not answer their door in their undoees anymore 😂
My DH is in his underwearand tshirts at home and has joggers on the hook by the main door for when he goes outside (in a front, fuck it in a garden). He deserves to be comfy

Blackness78 · 18/08/2018 23:52

I don't just take my bra off, I take ALL of my clothes off Hmm

IfNotNowThenWhen1 · 18/08/2018 23:58

For some reason I'm now thinking of Murray Goldberg sloughing of his trousers at the door and slumping in his chair in his tighty whities..Grin

ToPlanZ · 19/08/2018 00:02

EXACTLY what Zeeboo said.

Why the hell should covering up my natural face with make up make me proud? Men don't hide their natural looks. Well done for the stereotypical ideal of what a woman should aspire to!

Elephant14 · 19/08/2018 00:16

My neighbour's dog got out and ran to my front door so I had to go out to help wearing a pyjama top, leggings and 2 odd slippers. I think I just needed a fag and a lurex cardigan to complete the look. I told a "friend" about it she was disgusted with me. You sound like her.

HootOnABoat · 19/08/2018 00:21

I have work / going out clothes and I have home clothes. They're not necessarily PJs, but they are more comfortable clothes.

Sallystyle · 19/08/2018 00:22

I only wear clothes if I am going outside. The first thing I do when I get home is put on PJs, which is usually a vest and shorts in this weather.

Nothing dangles.

If it wasn't for the kids I would be naked indoors most of the time.

Fatted · 19/08/2018 00:26

I have to admit that I do agree with the comment that if a bra is uncomfortable it's the wrong size, but that's about it.

I don't wear make up at home and have been known to not get me or the kids changed out our Pj's until the afternoon in the school holidays.

Judydreamsofhorses · 19/08/2018 00:29

I love makeup, am known for my signature red lipstick, and yesterday three people (one a random) told me how nice I looked. The second I’m in the door, I am in “loungewear”, my glasses, and a face shining with skincare. Today I had a huge bath and just put on fresh house clothes - jogging trousers, a sweatshirt, Uggs. My DP is a lucky man!

Judydreamsofhorses · 19/08/2018 00:31

Oh, and I don’t sleep in anything - lounge clothes are for lounging.

Deafdeafdeath · 19/08/2018 00:36

My guinea pigs don’t care if I wear a bra or not.

HTH

Aeroflotgirl · 19/08/2018 00:36

Op what others do in their own home, is not your concern. For most people, their home is a place of comfort and sanctuary, where they can be themselves. For bigger busted ladies, it is uncomfortable wearing a bra, so if you don't need it, i.e. at home, take it off. Blimey, you have too much time on your hands if you are worried about what people do in their own homes.

Gwenhwyfar · 19/08/2018 00:49

I actually agree that if you have to take your bra off, you're not wearing the right size.
However, I do change into PJ bottoms when I get home because work trousers are nor comfortable.

thebewilderness · 19/08/2018 01:01

When I have had a hard day it is my bathrobe that I yearn for and a nice hot shower before I put it on and curl up with a book.

Oliversmumsarmy · 19/08/2018 01:09

I’m wondering what stuff needs doing when you get home that requires full make up and a bra
