What's happened to having a bit of pride in yourself?

daffodil10 · 18/08/2018 19:11

I am genuinely asking this question out of curiosity not being inflammatory but I will no doubt be accused of this in typical mnet style! Anyway here goes-

I don't understand why some women are so proud of the fact that the first thing they do when they get home is to take their bra off and put pjs on.

A) I don't have time as when I get in from work there's stuff to do.
B) why would you want to sit there with everything dangling about

I think it is much better for your state of mind to have a bit of pride In Yourself, to wear a bit of makeup, clean clothes, brush your hair etc. On another note if your bra is so uncomfortable you're wearing the wrong bra!

I don’t need to take my bra off when I get in as I almost never wear one, apart from when doing exercise. Never wear knickers either - it’s much nicer. I decided to forego underwear a couple of years ago and others I know have followed suit. You feel unrestricted all day, lovely :)

Babdoc · 18/08/2018 22:22

Haven’t read the whole thread, but I clearly don’t fit in here - I don’t wear bras or pyjamas, I sleep nude and don’t possess any make up!
I do put my slippers on when I get home, does that count as slobby enough? Grin

twattymctwatterson · 18/08/2018 22:23

The goady fuckers are out in force today. Op when I get in from work I walk the dog then put clean pjs on. I don't generally go anywhere else as I'm a lone parent with a five year old who is in bed by 7. I have plenty of pride in myself and enjoying wearing clean comfy pjs in my own home has absolutely no impact on that. It's very sad when people expend so much energy judging others for doing things differently to them. Normally an indication that they're a bit insecure themselves imo

thebewilderness · 18/08/2018 22:26

Yes indeed, OP. It would be a terrible thing if there were anywhere in the whole wide world that women could be comfortable and not be criticized for it.

LipstickHandbagCoffee · 18/08/2018 22:26

I don’t dangle.At all
I do have many very lovely pj sets
For me,the routine of changing out of work clothes and showering is v therapeutic
I do it nightly, and for me it’s therapeutic.the act of disrobing, taking off a difficult day
What I can’t fathom is why it vexes you so much?

PortiaCastis · 18/08/2018 22:28

GFs out in full force tonight indeed but why the desperate need to pick other women apart?

Bluesmartiesarebest · 18/08/2018 22:29

My bra only goes on if I’m going out because I get sweat rashes. I don’t wear jeans or tight fitting trousers because I get thrush. Op, is it worse to sit scratching on the sofa while wearing my bra and jeans, or to have dangly bits airing under loose fitting pjs and not scratching?

trampolinemum · 18/08/2018 22:30

Jj cup tits here. no bra is ever comfortable unless it has straps a good few inches thick which lets face it would look even fuglier than they already do.

And actual wearing of makeup means I have to a)waste money buying it and b) waste time applying it. Plus make up at work is strictly verboten and the ban enforced

It's a pyjamas on after tea when I put the kids to bed job although I do have a stack of 'house' trousers I wear indoors. And having just asked Dh he says he actually likes seeing me in pyjamas when he gets home because it means he can relax.

Jozxyqk · 18/08/2018 22:33

The OPs attitude is most... illuminating.

I don't dangle. I don't wear makeup or jewellery for anyone other than myself.

If the OP feels a need to cater to other people's perceptions of her, that's her issue. I do wish she wouldn't try to make it everyone else's.

Crumblevision · 18/08/2018 22:34

I am actually speechless. Biscuit

RedneckStumpy · 18/08/2018 22:37

Clothes are irrelevant, function comes over form. I almost never wear comfortable clothes at home as I am normally working or doing stuff around the house.

OftenHangry · 18/08/2018 22:45

@Spanielmadness no nickers too! It's so comfy! And apparently healthy as most of underwear we were is made with polyester etc and it just doesn't have enough airflow.
My bottom parts never felts so happy and calm before I weant "free". Just at home though.

bananafish81 · 18/08/2018 22:47

Those who get changed into pyjamas when you get in from work - does that mean you get into bed wearing the same PJs you've been pottering round the house in for the last few hours ?

I get changed into comfy slobbies after I get home, but will be trackie bottoms / yoga pants - and change into clean PJs at bedtime. I must be a weirdo, cos I don't feel right getting under the covers wearing nightwear I've been wearing whilst cooking & eating dinner or cleaning up. Maybe this is part of the great MN 'how often do you wash your sheets' debate!Grin

No dangling to worry about when the bra comes off - some of us are pert and perky without! ;-)

madmomma · 18/08/2018 22:49

I love being braless but my nipples are like chapel hat pegs. Wired molded cups are all that disguise them, but they are so uncomfortable! Do I just allow the nips to do their thing through a soft bra and risk visitors' embarrassment? Anyone else have this issue?

JacquesHammer · 18/08/2018 22:50

I use PJs as lounge wear, so when I go to bed I take them off or if it’s really cold I wear an oversized t-shirt.

DieAntword · 18/08/2018 22:53

Yeah even in winter I can’t bear wearing anything I’m bed. Just go naked with a higher tog duvet.

LipstickHandbagCoffee · 18/08/2018 22:53

Yes?i put on clean pj on to a showered body and retire to bed few hour later
I have not mucked out or handled cadavers so I’m confident the pjs are clean to wear in bed

lilyheather1 · 18/08/2018 22:53

As someone with a 30HH chest NOTHING feels as good as taking my bra off at the end of the day!

JacquesHammer · 18/08/2018 22:54

I have not mucked out or handled cadavers

Clearly because your day is OVER getting into PJs Wink

StarfishSandwich · 18/08/2018 22:58

I’m a bit of a naturist in my own home. I’m happier and more comfortable naked most of the time. Nothing to do with not having pride in myself - in fact it probably says more that I’ll happily wander around starkers!

pumpkinpie01 · 18/08/2018 22:59

I just wouldn’t find it practical to put pj’s on when I got in from work as I quite often would leave the house again before bedtime- popping to the neighbours, the shop, walking the dog , giving kids a lift somewhere it just wouldn’t be practical. I get in from work change into jeans / leggings then into nightwear at bedtime

lifechangesforever · 18/08/2018 23:00

How long does it take you to take off your clothes and bra and put on a pair of pyjamas exactly? Hmm

Bayleaf25 · 18/08/2018 23:03

Why exactly do I need to wear makeup to take pride in my appearance?

LeighaJ · 18/08/2018 23:06

@daffodil10

My husband will defend to the death my right to go braless as much as I want at home. Grin

HelenaDove · 18/08/2018 23:08

I wear lippy when i go out.

But being a 32HH i do sometimes tend to wander around my flat without a bra.

Are you on something OP?
