This is Mia who was adopted from the local shelter. I changed names a couple of times during the first 2 days before I settled for Mia. Oh, and my name is not Mia. Smile

I've had Joansie and Newt years ago, both girls. Now we have Mercury which I say is because of his colour and it's my favourite planet.... really it's after Freddie Mercury (who loved cats too!)

One of our cats, a tabby, had a perfect cross on the top of his back. We called him Brian. Well we couldn't call him Jesus...........

Not Dave but Dave The Cat

confusedofengland · 13/08/2018 14:06

Old-fashioned human names are great. Our cat is called Barry. I also like Malcolm, Steve, Desmond, Bryan etc for boy cats. For girl cats maybe Barbara, Sheila, Joan etc.

saratustra · 13/08/2018 15:58

Another of ours was Fast Eddie Felson (from The Hustler). Fast Eddie (sometimes referred to as "Eddie Puss") was a freelance but he threw it all up to become a full time softie.....

SparkyTheCat · 14/08/2018 20:29

In our house cats have lots of aliases nicknames anyway. The late Bobbins was also known as The B, Bobs, Batcat, Oddbins as well as assorted other less repeatable names.

belinda789 · 15/08/2018 18:50

I was given a tabby kitten when I was ten. I named him "Walter Barraclough".
LadyRussell if you want a nice short and original name for your cat how about "Maitland" ? I'll bet no-one has ever thought of that one......

FredMerc · 26/08/2018 19:22

OP did you decide on a name?

Idontbelieveinthemoon · 26/08/2018 19:26

Ours all have 'human' names and then ridiculous names for when I'm shouting them in the garden.

DH wasn't a cat person when we met. The other nigh he got up at 2am because he could hear a cat yowling, went into the garden with pants and slippers on and sang "come on in Daisy May Bouffington, my beautiful lady" and that's when I realised he loved the cats as much as I do (perhaps even a little more).

Novasglow · 26/08/2018 19:30

My boy's name is Sixx (after Nikki Sixx from Motley Crue). Totally suits him, and he's 10 this year Grin

Picking up my new kitten in a couple of weeks and his name is Chester (after Chester Bennington from Linkin Park).
