Names for cats

Please help I need unique, cool names.

I think it's harder than just choosing a name for a cat. It has to work for that particular cat else it won't stick. My older cat has been through a few names until I realised I only ever call him kitty, so that must be his real name .

Our new kitten has taken a week or so to name, and he is Simon. It's what suits him, and it's what I feel like calling him. Even though I would never have imagined calling a cat (or any pet) simon.

I love middle age names for cats. My friend has 2 cats called Simon and Adrian, she said it never fails to raise a smile in the vets waiting room!

my brother had cats, not his choice first one he called FC (fucking cat) second AFC (another fucking cat)
we had one who tried to 'adopt' us he was a mix of brown and creamy blended stripes, we called him marmite.

Mine was called Don'tpeeonthat and Arrgghhdon'tbiteme
He was a bit challenging.

We have recently adopted 2 kittens.

The first one I saw a picture of him on a friends; facebook page and fell in love. Because he was first, and therefore #1, we have called him Riker.

When we went to visit him pre-adoption we also met his brothers, and decided that he would fit in easier with a companion (ahem) so #2 came to us too.

#2 came with the pet name of Spud, cos when he was born he was the shape and colour of a potato, kind of beige. Taupe if you want to be posh about it! DH said he is the same colour as his first car, Morris Marina, so he is now Morris. Well he was, but it kind of got messed with and he's actually Mozzy now.

Oh and as this thread is useless without pictures, behold Riker and Mozzy......

Boy names for girl cats are the way forward. My cat is called Syd, my friends cat Boris and another friends cat Phil. All girls.

I wanted Nigel but I was overruled..
We have Ragnar and Rollo. They are quite bonkers and full on scrappers so it fits.

Okay I had two cats who have now died. One was called Spike and I so loved that name.

I am hopefully getting a ginger tom and a tabby girl.

I've had a Clarence (watched true romance the night before I got him), Holly and current dude is Chester. Have fun with your new kitties. Jasper would suit a ginger boy.

We also know Whiskey, Iris, Salsa, Ginjie, Tiptoe, Fleur, Tizer, Puskin, Kooga & Mowgli& Simba & Mufasa, and sibling cats called Havoc & Mayhem (they're fittingly v naughty). All of which I think are cool names.

I always wanted a ginger boy cat called Marmaduke.

Or any other colour our next cat will be called Rufus or Claude.

You have to give these matters some thought. My friend (who is a strapping 6ft bloke with a deep voice) adopted a ginger tom when living in suburban Essex. Cat was a bit on the large side so he called it 'Big Boy'. And so every night as the cat was called, the neighbours could hear him shouting 'come here Big Boy'!
