Sobbing over the death of a TV character

We are binge watching Boardwalk Empire. My favourite character died last night and I was in bits. It was beautifully done and a shocking end to the season.
I haven't felt this way since Thelma and Louise went over the canyon. Sad

I sobbed my heart out when Marshall's dad died in How I Met Your Mother.
I still cry when I see that episode, especially as you see numbers strategically placed all the way through the episode counting down to the moment.

I also cried when the dad character died in 8 Simple Rules but thats mainly because they had to as John Ritter died in real life Sad

RuggerHug · 10/08/2018 08:42

WhatchaMaCallit he dies in Miracle Mile aswell in a horrible way😓
He was in American crime story last year as a judge so still around.
All the e.r. deaths though.. DH never watched it before and we're working through the box set now. He checks my reaction at the opening of each episode and tops up wine/grabs tissues if it's 'fucking hell another sobfest episode'😁

LarryFreakinStylinson · 10/08/2018 08:43

End of S2 in Greys, end of S5 in Greys, end is S11 in Greys. I was an emotional wreck each time.

RuggerHug · 10/08/2018 08:43

Oh Nana in the royle family YES!!! Scarlet Ribbons playing and Barbaras teary 'look after her God'😥😥😥

Laiste · 10/08/2018 08:57

The one that springs to mind was years ago in Neighbors when Libby's (was it Libby?) husband died. They were only young. At his funeral she tried to sing Blooming Heather solo and choked up so Harold (i think) stepped up to sing with her ...

And we'll all go together
To pluck wild mountain thyme
All around the blooming heather
Will ye go, Lassie go?

Good God that was well acted ! :(

Does anyone else remember that?

Stephisaur · 10/08/2018 08:58

@Riotgrrrrrl yes to both of those! :(

WishIWasTheBoss · 10/08/2018 09:00

I haven't watched a single episode of This Is Us without a tear at some point. Hands down it's the best series in years I've watched. Brilliantly done.

hoopdeloop · 10/08/2018 09:05

Yes to Nana Moon, I was a young teenager and sobbed uncontrollably at her death. Soaps tend to get me a lot!

This is Us is also a huge tearjerker, when William died it was tear central.

RadioDorothy · 10/08/2018 09:05

Greys Anatomy is terrible for making me cry - you get all drawn in to like the characters and then they die. Although the one when the rock hard, never-cries Cristina is sobbing hysterically and screaming "SOMEONE SEDATE ME" was awful as well.

And House as well. I'm just re-starting that from the beginning.

ExBbqQueen · 10/08/2018 09:06

Dobby & Snape for me. Absolutely bawled my eyes put.

Bobby Ewing - I was young!

MatildaTheCat · 10/08/2018 09:06

I woke up in the night and cried when Jesse was enslaved and his girlfriend shot in Breaking Bad- he wasn’t even dead. I was just so heartbroken for him. Blush

And Dr Greene....😢

shutlingsloe · 10/08/2018 09:07

OP, I know exactly who you mean, I was so upset by that one too, it really got me!

OliviaStabler · 10/08/2018 09:12

Will dying in The Good Wife. I wasn't prepared for it and just cried like a baby.

FilthyforFirth · 10/08/2018 09:13

I was pretty upset at Will Gardner, but the worst for me is Leo from the West Wing (Mrs Landingham is very sad as well). I rewatch WW all the time, but I cannot watch that episode. I am welling up just thinking about it.

AlwaysWantedToBeATenenbaum · 10/08/2018 09:14

I was SOBBING when David Tennant regenerated in Doctor Who. Especially cos he says "I don't want to go" - oh god, I was in absolute floods!

Gileswithachainsaw · 10/08/2018 09:16

Nothing really tops mark green.

Although it was also really sad when Zara died in bad girls.

comfortandjoy · 10/08/2018 09:20

Adrianna in The Sopranos really upset me at the time .

Kool4katz · 10/08/2018 09:21

I was out walking the dog and listening to Harry Potter on audiobooks (so I knew whether they’d be suitable for my 9 yr old) and had to stop for a rest when Dumbledore was killed.
I’m in my 50’s for God’s sake! 😳 😂

HollyGibney · 10/08/2018 09:25

Also wept buckets at Al Capone trying to teach his son to stick up for himself. Acting is beautifully done all round.

I blubbed at that too. Stephen Graham played that part to perfection.

PerfectlySymmetricalButtocks · 10/08/2018 09:26

It's Cedric who gets me, well, more Amos's reaction. I feel so sorry for him. 😭

PerfectlySymmetricalButtocks · 10/08/2018 09:27

Sorry, that was to Kool.

BBTHREE76 · 10/08/2018 09:27

Nana in The Royle Family and more recently Wilson in Friday Night Dinner Blush

RecliningMadness · 10/08/2018 09:27

Opie "I got this" Winston.

Lots of Greys Anatomy.

The Handmaids Tale - recent scenes with Ofred and Hannah.

I've become a lot more emotional at things on tv since having children too.

I very recently watched Truly, Madly, Deeply after reading about it on here and cried at the very last scene with Alan Rickman. I've told my husband to watch that movie if I die before him Blush

FriedEggs1 · 10/08/2018 09:32

Oh yes comfort and joy that was heartbreaking!

The finale of Six Feet Under and also Dexter when Deb died. I couldn't breathe!

Giggorata · 10/08/2018 09:34

I'll just say Lexx.... not got over it yet.
