Sobbing over the death of a TV character

We are binge watching Boardwalk Empire. My favourite character died last night and I was in bits. It was beautifully done and a shocking end to the season.
I haven't felt this way since Thelma and Louise went over the canyon. Sad

OMG I forgot about Cedric Diggory. That was awful.

Missingstreetlife · 10/08/2018 10:38

The children in Jude the obscure

Caaarrrl · 10/08/2018 10:39

I have been absolutely traumatised by three major deaths in The Walking Dead. I won't say which as I don't want want to spoil it for anyone, but my username might give away one of them!

Think I might cry a lot when another major character leaves (not sure how yet) in the new season.

OrangeCarpet · 10/08/2018 10:43

Eleven in stranger things at end of series 1. I didn’t realise she wasn’t actually dead. She looks like someone I know in real life and I was devastated.

ResurrectedGoldfish · 10/08/2018 10:45

Hold the door! Can’t watch that episode of GoT without having emotional support lined up. It’s the way he doesn’t just sacrifice his life but his past as well for his friend. One of the only purely good and kind characters in the whole show. I just can’t... 😭😭😭😭😭

ElspethTascioni · 10/08/2018 10:45

My worst used to be Will from the Good Wife, that was until Poussey from OITNB. I could just see that scene building up, and I was screaming at the TV, she’s so small, get off her! I was devastated. I didn’t realise til then how much she wasn’t my favourite character. I’m welling up now just thinking about it! 😭

Bunchofdaffodils · 10/08/2018 10:45

Eyedrops Yes, Barbara. My daughter and I watched every episode religiously but I still haven’t watched this one episode. I’ll be a wreck! Welling up now after your post. She was just so lovely.

MsJinglyJones · 10/08/2018 10:47

Lucy in ER - I was so shocked. I was also upset about Dr Greene, but later EWR just became ridiculous with everyone meeting a grisly end left right and centre. By the end I was just shouting "Oh not another one!" at the telly.

amilosingitor · 10/08/2018 10:48

Rita in dexter and Glenn in Walking Dead. Don't think I'll ever get over either of them!

HaveSomeGrace · 10/08/2018 10:48

@Caaarrrl

You were traumatised when Maggies husband was killed werent you?! That was kinda sick though. 🤪

CaptainHammer · 10/08/2018 10:50

Elspeth same. Poussey was brilliant and I properly sobbed. I didn’t expect it to happen either so it was a big shock. Even DH had tears when she died.

Also Jack Bristow at the end of Alias :(

Scoleah · 10/08/2018 10:50

Yep I cried with derek shepherd & George!

RedDwarves · 10/08/2018 10:55

Jimmy Edwards on One Tree Hill. Sad

PityParty · 10/08/2018 10:56

I was a blubbering wreck when Glenn from Casualty went

ReluctantBenefitClaimant · 10/08/2018 10:57

I've watched Blood Diamonds 5 times and cried like a tantruming toddler when Danny Archer (Leonardo Di Caprio) dies... And he started off as the bad guy!

It is the whole story plot that makes me cry though, him dying just tops it off!

ResurrectedGoldfish · 10/08/2018 10:57

Oh, and Truly Madly Deeply when Juliet Stevenson is in therapy and she just starts sobbing, with proper snot and everything. Then when Jamie comes back 😪😪🤢😪 too harrowing for words.

HRTpatch · 10/08/2018 10:59

"Hold the door"
Oh bugger.
That was dreadful

I never cry over films or anything fictitious BUT when Dobby died I sobbed real tears Blush. I think it was because he was just so pitiful Sad.

Drivemecrazy1974 · 10/08/2018 11:02

I cry every time I re-watch the last 2 episodes of Ashes to Ashes - I know what's coming, I know it'll be sad, and yet I can't help watching the series every year! In my opinion, Life on Mars and Ashes To Ashes are 2 of the best shows ever made!

Penyu · 10/08/2018 11:04

Poussey from OITNB
Mark Green
And more recently the episode of Enders (Shakhil's funeral) where they had real life knife crime stories, absolutely sobbed at that (& I was on a flight!)

OliviaStabler · 10/08/2018 11:04

Yep I cried with derek shepherd & George!

Me too. Also cried at Lexi dying, "Tell Meredith that I love her"

DrPeppersPhD · 10/08/2018 11:09

Only times I've ever cried were Myuki in the Young Samurai series and Bing Bong in Inside Out. I'm the kind of person who doesn't cry at fictional things, but I was bawling at those two.

Ginosaji · 10/08/2018 11:22

@EyeDrops toally agree with all of yours, bawled like a baby when Barbara died, also sister Evangelina, she was my fave nun

Read&watched all the harry potters so many times but still cry at the deaths, tho in cedrics case its not his death that makes me cry its how his dad reacts

Will always have a place in my heart for dobby

Andrei in war and peace. The music was beautiful so I bought the soundtrack and listen to it in the car. I cry every time.

Jackieyoulooknice · 10/08/2018 11:25

I cried when Will Gardner died on Good Wife!
