He is clearly racist. He should be thrown out of the Conservative party.

Ok Ghosto you carry on thinking all the ex UKIP voters and traditional labour voters, will support momentum.

Really you really think so? Corbyn spits in the face of the white working classes and they know it. Labour left them when disaster Ed changed the voting rules.

They will vote Tory as they have no alternative

YeTalkShiteHen · 09/08/2018 13:03

They will vote Tory as they have no alternative

Well if that isn’t the absolute definition of turkeys voting for Christmas I don’t know what is.

GhostofFrankGrimes · 09/08/2018 13:04

Cuppa

You keep ignoring what I am saying and keep derailing with your anti Labour rants.

Helmetbymidnight · 09/08/2018 13:04

You said you cannot be racist against a religion or culture which is a life style choice any one can make

This is not true. (Well done for frantically back-pedaling though.)

Boris was insulting but not racist.

Do you understand that some people feel it was and he is now being investigated for islamaphobia?

Perhaps you could explain to the investigating panel that this is impossible. Perhaps you could use as your evidence pages of mumsnet agreeing with you. Hmm

GhostofFrankGrimes · 09/08/2018 13:06

They will vote Tory as they have no alternative

A roundabout way of blaming anyone other than the Tories for the mess this country is in whilst turning a blind eye to bigotry.

DarlingNikita · 09/08/2018 13:06

scary, well, I'm not claiming that it's easy to pick up cues with someone's face covered. My point is that if you say you wouldn't teach a student with their face covered then you have to include in that a student who, say, will only come to class in a balaclava, or who covers their mouth/face/eyes with their hands or a book, or any number of things that, for various reasons, students might do. Otherwise you're not saying 'I won't teach people whose faces I can't read properly', you're saying specifically 'I won't teach people whose faces are covered with a veil', and then you're on shaky ground.

LoveInTokyo · 09/08/2018 13:07

Here's a few forecasts:
- Britain will follow France, Denmark, Austria, Belgium, Latvia and Bulgaria in banning the burqa;
- All halal meat, whether on sale in a shop or served in a restaurant, will have to be marked as such, so non-Muslims don't eat it unknowingly;
- The entire concept of 'hate speech' will be scrapped and people will be allowed to speak their minds, whether this causes offence or not, so long as there is no incitement to violence;
- Far from being removed from the Tory Party, Boris will be their next leader and will push through a WTO Brexit;
- The Tories will win the next General Election.

Lol.

Those last two are mutually exclusive.

If the Tories "push through a WTO Brexit" they will destroy the country and very few people alive today will ever be dumb enough to vote for them again.

mirialis · 09/08/2018 13:13

I didn't say humans were incapable of politely ignoring others. But they don't in general do they? When someone is doing something seemingly stupid they look and think "what the bloody hell are they doing that for?" and they comment on it to each other. Niqab-wearing women do it too. We all do.

scaryteacher · 09/08/2018 13:15

No student would be allowed to come into class in a balaclava. They probably wouldn't make it to registration if SMT had any sense. I would not teach a child who refused to remove a balaclava.

Covering your face with a book - you just stand in front of them and peek over the top of the book, and covering part of your face with your hands still means that you can see the rest of it.

Cuppaorwine · 09/08/2018 13:20

Helmet

Er back peddling?? I have repeatedly said that from page 1.

Now islamaphobia and racism is not critisising examining or even taking the piss out of religion or culture. That is acceptable and vital in a western democracy. It might be unpleasant and insulting but it’s not against the law.

He is being investigated and I really hope he is found not guilty because if he is or he’s expelled from the Tories his approval rate amongst the population will soar and that will be catastrophic.

Ghosto I gave up Labour Party membership when you momentum lot brought in your dear leader. You will let the Tories win the next election and frankly if you can’t see that I really can’t engage with you.

Cuppaorwine · 09/08/2018 13:23

Helmet

Of course I understand some people do. 17 million people voted Brexit but I don’t agree with them either Hmm

You and others like you are completely playing into Boris’s hands and you just can’t see it.

I am not a member of the Labour party. Just because I am opposed to Tory austerity and dog whistle politics does not automatically make me a "Corbynista" or momentum supporter that you seem obsessed with.

People can have fairer politics and society or more of the shit show served up over the last 8 years. Thats before you factor in the Tories no deal disaster capitalism Brexit.

Echo2 · 09/08/2018 13:33

Labour will never win an election with Corbyn in charge, there’s just not enough old school socialists in the country anymore.
Plus he’s lost a lot of support from feminists who were key for labour.

LoveInTokyo · 09/08/2018 13:36

Corbyn won't be in charge forever, and frankly a monkey would win against the Tories if they go through with a no deal Brexit.

Cuppaorwine · 09/08/2018 13:36

Ghosto

Without being rude you always pop up on threads defending Corbyn. That’s your choice and why not but don’t deny it. And no I don’t think you are labour as I don’t consider Jeremy labour.

Look regards the full facecovering it clearly is mysogynistic to women. It’s insulting to men that tmen are considered so sexual that they can only control themselves if a woman is dressed in a virtual shroud.

It’s very concerning also that younger and younger girls are seen dressing this way.

It plays into the good woman/bad woman scenario that we as women have striven to throw off in rape charges for years. It’s sets women apart from society and inhibits normal interactions like smiling and any other facial expressions.

It’s not a religious requirement at all otherwise men would be wearing it. It’s purely and simply a way to control women. That’s the facts. That women may choose to wear them is irrelevant.

That is a debate that is quite legitimate to have. It’s neither racist or islamaphobic.

SillySallySingsSongs · 09/08/2018 13:36

Plus he’s lost a lot of support from feminists

Plus a big number if Jewish support.

longwayoff · 09/08/2018 13:40

So. We're leaving the EU to get our country back from the UK hating European Commissioners. We hate them because they are not elected so are effectively civil servants giving us orders. So, hurrah, we'll be free to do trade deals with the WTO. When will the elections for the WTO take place? I wouldnt want to miss this new democratic opportunity.

Helmetbymidnight · 09/08/2018 13:41

you cannot be racist against a religion or culture which is a life style choice any one can make

These were your words though, right?

You were VERY mixed up, yes?

How am I playing into boris hands? Please explain.

Cuppaorwine · 09/08/2018 13:41

Yes this so called Labour Party have pissed off feminists because of self ID

They have lost traditional white working class voters by not listening to them or patronising them.

The Tories do this too but are better at hiding it. The hard left are openly contemptuous where the hard right are subtly contemptuous.

Cuppaorwine · 09/08/2018 13:44

Yes Helmet you still are.

You are playing into His hands by being ‘outraged from Middie england’ instead of ignoring him. He will love an enquiry that’s what he wants!! To be the hero or the white working class, saying it as it is

Jesus Christ have you heard of Trump!

Bangs head against a wall.

Echo2 · 09/08/2018 13:46

Yes, and as SillySallySingsSongs said they’re losing support from Jewish communities ( unsurprisingly) so who actually supports labour these days?

Cuppaorwine · 09/08/2018 13:46

And please explain how you think you can be racist by discussing religion or culture??

And not insulting or demeaning or insensitive but actually racist. Tell us how that works

Helmetbymidnight · 09/08/2018 13:53

you cannot be racist against a religion or culture which is a life style choice any one can make

I’m afraid if you still don’t understand that anti-semitism and islamaphobia are considered racism then you are very, very mixed up.

ITV are running a poll, the world has gone mad. www.itv.com/news/london/update/2018-08-08/snap-survey-should-boris-johnson-apologise-for-burkha-comments/
