Tiny new baby, aww. In the supermarket.
Walking down an aisle.
Boob out completely trying to get the baby to latch.
Wtf.
Does anyone think this is normal? I bf myself for the record.

Been done so many times.. my youngest is 7! It's not new.tits are actually developed for feeding kids..if you sit-down to feed you might have social services o your doorstep as you've forgotten to pick your kids up from school.... Never because you fed your kid on the go?!!!!

trancepants · 07/08/2018 23:47

Ah come on guys, everyone knows new mothers are exhibitionists. Doing everything they can to ruin your day with tits. Pretending their little ones are looking for comfort or a feed. They're taking every chance they get to ruin your day with tits.

I wouldn't have done it but wouldn't judge a mum who did

BabySharkDooDooDooDoo · 07/08/2018 23:52

I wouldnt have any issue if i saw the woman. I bf my ds while i was on a train once and nobody batted an eyelid

NalderAndCollier · 08/08/2018 00:29

The only thing I find odd is that she didn't stand still until the baby was feeding. Surely walking along at the same time makes it more difficult for the baby to latch on?

OctaviaOctober · 08/08/2018 00:43

Its only a body part after all, being used for the purpose of giving pleasure to its owner.

A baby does not "own" its mothers breasts.

People like you need to come to terms with the fact that boobs are not primarily for sex. They're primarily for feeding tiny new humans.

JessicaJonesJacket · 08/08/2018 01:04

I did this when DS was a baby. I don't think anyone noticed but maybe they did.

LMDC · 08/08/2018 01:12

Feeding a baby in the early days before the latch is perfected can be a struggle. Before my DC could latch himself (around 2.5m) I had to expose my full breast to manipulate it to get a good latch, and it took a few attempts to latch him correctly. If he was hungry in a supermarket I would've fed him without a second thought and there's absolutely no way I would've been able to do it discreetly, not that there is any need to.

Mothers judging other mothers for doing things differently to them really pisses me off.

Ol

lollythelurker · 08/08/2018 08:25

I would say not so much unreasonable but a bit of a silly thing to do. She could trip, someone could bump into her. Most newer Tesco's have breastfeeding rooms, or cafes which would probably be more appropriate.

I spent many an hour BF in the car when my DD was small. Hiding away like people like to make you feel like you should. Regardless, a Tesco Isle is a bit much for me.

Gooseygoosey12345 · 08/08/2018 11:36

Seriously? Maybe, just maybe, the baby was hungry!! Hmm fuck sake, get over it. You're being ridiculous

Goldmandra · 08/08/2018 17:45

She could trip, someone could bump into her.

That could happen at any time, whether you were feeding a baby or not.

I spent many an hour BF in the car when my DD was small. Hiding away like people like to make you feel like you should.

So isn't it good news and really refreshing that more people are breastfeeding more publicly and getting our wider society more used to seeing it? The more it happens, the fewer dinosaurs there will be to object to it Smile

PrimalLass · 08/08/2018 17:51

YABU for this being a thing you even noticed.

Don't be ridiculous.

Ivorbig1 · 08/08/2018 18:20

Breast feeding is normal.... full on boob out, no. As a society we are too prudish and not used to seeing it. Else where in the world ....

Goldmandra · 09/08/2018 22:07

As a society we are too prudish and not used to seeing it. Else where in the world ....

We need people to do it more so we become like elsewhere in the world.

The more we see it, the more we accept it, the more people will feel confident to do it. All good.

We don't have to accept being told not to do it because some people haven't seen it enough to perceive it as normal.

We need to support BFing mothers by encouraging progress and affirming their right to BF in whatever manner they wish at every opportunity.

PerfectlySymmetricalButtocks · 09/08/2018 22:11

I wish I could have done that. I went to Asda when DS2 was 4 days old and DD was nearly 4. With loo breaks and feeding it took 5 hours! I definitely would have saved time if I could have walked around feeding DS2!

throwawayagain · 09/08/2018 22:13

I breasted in Tesco, and was shouted at by an old man.
Is was under a poncho. Discrete. I was alone.
Poor woman.
It's difficult enough when you know what you're doing!

NinaMarieP · 09/08/2018 22:33

Totally reasonable.

And if she'd had a spare hand I would have given her a high five because I never managed to get the hang of feeding standing up let alone walking.

Iwantamarshmallow · 09/08/2018 22:43

I wapped mine out in matalan today. Screaming babys to not understand that you need to find a seat and cover up. Im ashamed to say I would have agreed with you untill I started bf DS . YABU

Yep!

Full boobs out - no problem.

Nikephorus · 10/08/2018 09:43

So it's fine for a woman to get her whole breast out in a supermarket to feed her baby but not fine if a woman shows a bit more cleavage than usual on a hot day at a mother & baby type group? Hmm

PerfectlySymmetricalButtocks · 10/08/2018 09:50

I'm one of the people who said that was fine too. As if babies and toddlers care.

Camomila · 10/08/2018 10:12

She's probably sleep deprived.

I used to find the chairs by the chemist bit of the supermarket a handy place to breast feed.

Broussard · 10/08/2018 11:11

No they're both fine, and equally none of our business.
