Tiny new baby, aww. In the supermarket.
Walking down an aisle.
Boob out completely trying to get the baby to latch.
Wtf.
Does anyone think this is normal? I bf myself for the record.

OP posts:
HelpmeobiMN · 07/08/2018 20:57

I think that of all the people in the world at whom I could direct sneering judgment, mothers desperately trying to feed newborn babies who are struggling would be pretty low on my list.

CoolGirlsNeverGetAngry · 07/08/2018 20:58

Did you notify the church elders?

Raven88 · 07/08/2018 20:58

Baby needed fed, she may have been in a rush. I've never had a baby but women should BF without judgement. It's natural.

Aprilshowersinaugust · 07/08/2018 20:59

I have bf all of mine, don't support the must hide away brigade but if breasts are not to be sexualised and just seen as feeding implements why would police get involved if you walked down the street topless?
Genuine question Grin

HelpmeobiMN · 07/08/2018 21:00

By the same logic, getting your bits out and masturbating in the supermarket aisle is perfectly ok.

I will never not be disturbed by people who view breastfeeding as akin to a sexual act. Its such a creepy and inappropriate opinion. Breasts aren't genitals, breastfeeding isn't a sex act, please god stop being so disgusting by conflating the two.

Riotgrrrrrl · 07/08/2018 21:00

I'd probably think that'd it would be easier to get the baby to latch if she stopped walking for a sec but otherwise I admire the multitasking ability (I cannot multitask)

JamPasty · 07/08/2018 21:01

I cannot imagine why breastfeeding rates are low when people like the OP are so supportive Hmm

YeTalkShiteHen · 07/08/2018 21:05

I never BF any of mine, and I’m horrified at the conpanrison!

YeTalkShiteHen · 07/08/2018 21:05

Comparison!

VikingLady · 07/08/2018 21:07

Totally normal. And probably drawing less attention than a screaming baby.

I personally found a trolley to be a very good height for feeding a 1yo sat in the seat.

LeroyJenkins · 07/08/2018 21:09

@YeTalkShiteHen to what? to @ManorGreyhound 's basically fucking ridiculous comment of 'By the same logic, getting your bits out and masturbating in the supermarket aisle is perfectly ok.'

er - yeah.... wanking / feeding a child??? same thing right??????

Pengggwn · 07/08/2018 21:09

Fine by me, as long as she moves when I need to get to the cheese.

Allaboutalex · 07/08/2018 21:09

I think not something you usually see- like shorts in winter or a coat in summer, but normal.

I’d defo do a double take. I used to work in a shop and over the years I saw a handful of people walking and browsing whilst bf, and I did notice, but didn’t particularly care.

Duckherding · 07/08/2018 21:10

I once saw a lady taking money at a pay for entry thing telling people where they needed to go. While having her baby in a wrap feeding them, bloody amazing !

GreenMeerkat · 07/08/2018 21:10

I'd say it was the definition of normal. That's what they're there for.

MandalaYogaTapestry · 07/08/2018 21:10

Even if the baby needed feeding there and then, and she couldn't abandon her shopping, she could have easily turn to face the shelf for some privacy, latch the baby on, adjust her clothing and then keep walking. No need to 'whip the boob out' just because it's fulfilling its natural purpose.

I guess one could ask why should she be discreet in this situation - but that's a matter of personal comfort zone and consideration for others. Not that difficult to observe.

I was breastfeeding both my kids and we were always out and about.

BoomBoomsCousin · 07/08/2018 21:11

It's not common and it sounds really awkward to be trying to do it. But other than that I don't think it merits a "wtf?". As others have said - it's what they are for. We are worse off as a society fetishizing women's breasts and making breastfeeding into a spectacle instead of an everyday thing.

Allaboutalex · 07/08/2018 21:11

For what it’s worth- if someone started to mastrubate in the shop I would defo care and more than likely call the police in addition to security. Because they are quite obviously not the same thing.

HellenaHandbasket · 07/08/2018 21:11

Noone walks around a supermarket breeding a newborn if they have the option of being somewhere more comfortable. Doubtless she'd have been criticized if baby was screaming instead.

You gotta do what you gotta do and all that.

BroomstickOfLove · 07/08/2018 21:12

By the same logic, getting your bits out and masturbating in the supermarket aisle is perfectly ok.

And by this logic, I'm assuming that you would consider it perfectly acceptable for anyone who felt a bit horny to nip into the café and sit down for a wank under a special wanking cover while enjoying a latte and a piece of cake. They might even plan to meet up with friends for a wank and a gossip.

ScreamingValenta · 07/08/2018 21:13

I imagine the alternative would be an unhappy and hungry, crying, baby - surely no one would want that.

Rufustheyawningreindeer · 07/08/2018 21:14

Ive seen this a couple of times recently

Personally i cant see the problem

Many times I answered the door to the poor sod of a postman with a child latched on to a naked boob

Deshasafraisy · 07/08/2018 21:15

The worst criticiser of a woman breastfeeding her baby is always another woman. Why is this? Leave her alone ffs

Celebelly · 07/08/2018 21:16

I'd probably just be impressed she was able to manage it while standing/walking!

I hate all this closet judgyness disguised by faux support or this notion that we have to be 'discreet' and swathe ourselves in muslins or 20 layers in case some special snowflake sees a breast that's being used to feed a baby. If you can't manage to complete your shop without gawping in horror at someone's boob, I think you need to have a word with yourself.

SendYouUpInFlames · 07/08/2018 21:17

I've done it myself plenty of times with both children.

You seriously can't win with you people can you?!

You leave them to scream you get looked at.

You wap ye tit out to soothe said screaming child, and still.. get fucking looked at.

Seriously.. what do you want us to do?
