A parking one (and no, IANBU)

Lazy morning, looked out of the front about 9.30ish to see a van parked partly over my drive.

I'm completely blocked in.

To add insult to injury, they're parked over the entire pavement and due to a deeds anomaly, I own that land too.

No idea where they are.

Sadly I have to go out at 3pm (not by car) so hoping I catch them before then!

Is there a company name or contact on the van? Ring them if there is!

Liverbird77 · 07/08/2018 11:51

An outrage!!

JacquesHammer · 07/08/2018 11:52

No company name. The van is obviously colour-schemed but a google hasn’t helped!

Ooh! A parking thread in action! Grabs 🍿

Plannergirl9 · 07/08/2018 11:52

Does the van or trailer have any writing in it? If not have a look in the windows to see if there any paperwork. If so, I'd call the Google them and hopefully you'll be able to phone them to move it.

LizB62A · 07/08/2018 11:53

Does your local council ticket people who park over dropped kerbs?
(ours does - the CF parkers only tend to do it once.....)

SisterNotCisTerf · 07/08/2018 11:53

101 for advice?

alwaysthepessimist · 07/08/2018 11:54

photo of the van - someone might recognise it!! How annoying though....can you track the reg number & see if it registered to a company?

CF'ers though

YeTalkShiteHen · 07/08/2018 11:54

I had this, apparently you can have it towed if it’s blocking you in your drive (preventing you getting out because that could be dangerous in an emergency) but not if it’s blocking you out. So you’re within your rights to call either the council to tow it, or the police.

What a wank!b

EstuaryBird · 07/08/2018 11:57

When they do return I would be out there to complain about the important -but totally made up- reason that I had needed to use my car Grin.

Seriously though, people really don't give a shit about others, it's all about their own convenience x

EstuaryBird · 07/08/2018 11:58

Damn, strikethrough fail!

Ok to add answer a few questions: -

Does the van or trailer have any writing in it? If not have a look in the windows to see if there any paperwork. If so, I'd call the Google them and hopefully you'll be able to phone them to move it

Absolutely nothing - have checked all around the van and nothing on seats/dashboard etc.

Does your local council ticket people who park over dropped kerbs?

Possibly - just googling although I suspect there'll be issues because they're on my land and not the road if that makes sense?

Thanks for the picture MH Grin

Stand by the van in full view of neighbours and pretend to be on the phone...bet someone will appear

INeedanInterestingUsername · 07/08/2018 12:18

Phone 101 and tell them the van is preventing you from leaving your drive. 101 typically looks up the reg, phones the owner and tells them to move. If no one answers or if owner refuses to move, then the police if they are board and have nothing else to do might send someone around to investigate.

Helga55 · 07/08/2018 12:18

I'd also be checking that it's taxed & MOT'd on the gov website. People who act like CF's often think they're above the law

RestingBitchFaced · 07/08/2018 12:20

Go outside and take photos of it, someone might appear from a neighbours

JacquesHammer · 07/08/2018 12:22

Yeah it’s taxed and insured.

Have been around and looked and can’t see anywhere that appears to be having work.

I will try the police but suspect it would be trespass which is a civil matter.

Bet the buggers move it when I’ve gone Grin

Can't they also be ticketed for parking on the pavement as well as blocking a drive? Not sure if it's the same if it's a private pavement though... Where I live you have to register your kerb with the council and they give you a reference number. Any time someone blocks your drive you ring a number, give your ref number and the reg/make/colour of the car and someone on a moped comes round and tickets them.

LoveInTokyo · 07/08/2018 12:24

Get it towed away.

Or write a nice message across their windscreen in greasy lipstick.

Elderflower78 · 07/08/2018 12:26

It's just so rude and ignorant. If you had an emergency or a child to pick up how o earth can you get out? Fuming for you.
It must belong to someone who is in one of your neighbours houses? Could you go round the neighbours doors and ask if they know who it belongs to?

JacquesHammer · 07/08/2018 12:27

Just checked out with the council. I can fill in a form but they’ll only deal with “persistent offenders”.

They promise me a response in 72 hours though 😂
