Lazy morning, looked out of the front about 9.30ish to see a van parked partly over my drive.

I'm completely blocked in.

To add insult to injury, they're parked over the entire pavement and due to a deeds anomaly, I own that land too.

No idea where they are.

Sadly I have to go out at 3pm (not by car) so hoping I catch them before then!

The problem with anything too aggressive is that they know where you live!

IfYouDontImagineNothingHappens · 07/08/2018 14:04

Can you put a picture up of the van? Maybe someone will recognise it?

ThumbWitchesAbroad · 07/08/2018 14:08

I'd say it's about time you took delivery of those building materials you "need" for a new extension, OP. Make sure they pile them up all around the lorry and its trailer, seeing as how they should have been delivered onto your land out there...
Then see how they like them apples.

I came home to find someone in my allocated space, I’d have not normally worried but brand new car and only free space out front was under a tree and birds poo on your car if you park there (hence why it was free) plus had tons of stuff I needed to load into car. So I found out who’s car it was, really politely asked her to move, explained why and thanked her when she did it.

Bear in mind I was not the one in the wrong and I’d been nice and smiley etc the attitude I was getting back left a bit to be desired. I then came out later to find she had left a note on my car using a flyer local councillor had just dropped saying “vote for me I’ll protect your parking space” I did laugh a bit but also thought wtf? Why would you even bother doing that?

JacquesHammer · 07/08/2018 14:31

Sorry folks.

The van is still there and I've got to go out.

However, have spoken to neighbour and there son is in tomorrow so he's parking so the van can't.

They're also going to have a word with them if they see who it is.

Love a parking thread!! 😁

*i really do not understand why OP does not inform the police!

As I said earlier - complete waste of police time as (a) I don't have to use my car and (b) I'm going out shortly anyway.

Waste of time posting here too then. Do something about it ffs. If it's not bothering you and you don't need the car out then why bother posting here?

If only it wasn’t compulsory to read every thread Wink

As I left I’ve shoved a note under the wipers.

I presume I’ll come back to my windows put through but still Grin

Any update op?
Unfortunately the type of people who park to inconvience others are the type to just throw away the note.
It doesn't matter if the op isn't using her car....she should have the freedom to use her car when she likes. It's her home and her car and some twat has took her freedom away and the enjoyment of her home.
There really should be stricter rules about this, it's shit that the police or council don't do anything about it.
I can't imagine how angry you would be if you actually had to be somewhere and couldn't go because of this idiot.
If possible I would get someone to block him completely so he would have to come grovel to get out. What a total wanker.

Best parking thread of recent times was the OP returning home to find CF school run Mums parked ON her drive and one in front of the drive, so OP parked to block the one on the road in so neither car could move.

Much kerfuffling ensued, CF’s husbands coming round to “have a go” whilst OP and OP’s DH waved their wine glasses at the CF’s to show they couldn’t drive to move the car.

I believe one of the CF Husbands let down the tyres on the OP’s car - ultimately blocking themselves in for longer and OP told the CF Husbands that she had a dash cam and the footage would be going to the police- que much grovelling and eventual huffy apology from CF school Mums.

That was satisfying!

JacquesHammer · 07/08/2018 16:18

No update as yet. Van still there according to neighbour.

Take pics of the van and put it on Facebook asking if anyone knows who it belongs to and how to get in touch with them. Highlighting what an inconsiderate git they have been will do wonders for their business.

GreenFingersWouldBeHandy · 07/08/2018 16:25

What was in your note? We need to know!

OldSchoolPhotograph · 07/08/2018 17:13

Someone parked across our drive a few months ago. H called the local police to ask for advice and they actually came out to our house within the hour which we were very surprised about. They tracked down the owner of the car (I think they phoned her) at a neighbour's down the road. She moved her car and we never saw her. The police officer said she was very apologetic.

The neighbour came over later to explain what had happened. The neighbour offers a counselling service from her home and the driver had arrived for counselling in a real state. She was in such a state she'd parked across our drive without realising. We felt awful about it as I think the police calling her had upset her even more.

Anyway, I doubt your car and trailer driver is having a day long counselling session with one of your neighbours. Give your local police a call and see what they can do. Our local police didn't see it as wasting their time.

Elderflower78 · 07/08/2018 17:51

God I would end up exploding with anger. I'm still seething about the trailer on my driveway and that was resolved quickly without any hassle.
I can't abide ignorance from people on any level. Must be getting old.
I would really want to smash their windows in and spray paint the van but obviously that's not going to do you any favours.
Your only option is to call 101 and say you are desperate and make it sound urgent, exaggerating the time it's been there for. Even then they don't have to do anything.

I just can't believe people do this. I have lost all faith in humanity.

Floods123 · 07/08/2018 17:55

Placemarrk!

Not sure somebody in that state should have been driving

Ninabean17 · 07/08/2018 18:11

Shameless placemark..

GlitteryFluff · 07/08/2018 18:12

Placemarking.
Love me a parking thread. Grin

ProfessorMoody · 07/08/2018 18:21

Someone did this to me once. I was advised to call 101 and the police came straight over within five minutes (Rural Wales, probably pretty quiet a lot of the time). They soon moved when they saw the police there, but funnily enough hadn't bothered when they saw me trying to get out of my door and up the pavement in my wheelchair Angry

They had no remorse whatsoever. CFs don't generally tend to care about anyone else's feelings.

TedAndLola · 07/08/2018 18:32

I love the posters getting shitty with Jacques because she doesn't leap to obey their particular advice at once. Grin

What a wanker the van driver is.

MonoClue · 07/08/2018 18:35

We used to live close to a school. Getting onto our driveway was horrendous. My kids didn’t go to that school, they went to one 4 miles away that was handy for my work. One week before Christmas I was at home, comes to school pickup time and there’s a car parked across my drive. 30 minutes later the dad strolls over with his daughter, he’d been to the Christmas play! He then had a go at ME for making his daughter cry. (I told him he was a selfish driver who had caused my children to be late being picked up). His daughter then proceeded to empty her uneaten lunch and empty juice cartons onto our front garden! I picked it up, opened his passenger door and dumped it on the front seat, he later tried to charge me for having the car valeted as the juice ran onto the seat. He got short shrift on that too.
