Lazy morning, looked out of the front about 9.30ish to see a van parked partly over my drive.

I'm completely blocked in.

To add insult to injury, they're parked over the entire pavement and due to a deeds anomaly, I own that land too.

No idea where they are.

Sadly I have to go out at 3pm (not by car) so hoping I catch them before then!

I had this happen to me. Never did find out who it was! The cheek of some people.

BrightYellowDaffodil · 07/08/2018 12:57

people like this don't care about notes

They do if someone does this:

SimonBridges · 07/08/2018 12:57

In the past I have called the local police station (before 101) and they have phoned up the car owner.

Mumsnut · 07/08/2018 12:59

Can you unhitch the trailer and budge it along?

81Byerley · 07/08/2018 13:06

You could leave a big note on the windscreen in the driver's view. I'd suggest A4 size. Make sure you don't damage the van, though....stick it on with a big blob of Vaseline. You may need to move it around a bit to make certain it won't blow away though......

JacquesHammer · 07/08/2018 13:07

Definitely can’t unhitch the trailer.

I’m watching out of the front ready to pounce 😂

My DP came home from work a couple of weeks back and couldn't get on our drive because it was blocked. He had to park at the bottom of our very steep road and make 2 trips to bring up some late night shopping he'd got on way home (it was about 2am).

He was pissed off so just left a note on the offenders windscreen which simply said 'If you park here again please could you reverse back a bit as I couldn't get car onto our drive. Thanks'

We found the note in the morning, screwed up and thrown on our drive with 'So Fucking What' scrawled on it. That's how much some people care these days.

FeistyOldBat · 07/08/2018 13:12

Letting the tyres down, by itself, isn't criminal damage, but it is if you accidentally damage the tyres. Letting the tyres down will mean that it will take the CF longer to move the vehicle. Take photographs you can draw on by hand or digitally, to show your boundaries, and make sure you show the vehicle reg clearly, plus the date and time stamp when the photos were taken.

Bastard trespassers, grrrrrrrr...

LeighaJ · 07/08/2018 13:14

@BrightYellowDaffodil

That's hilarious.

JacquesHammer · 07/08/2018 13:17

Ive got plenty of pics. To be honest I’m reluctant to involve the police. Whilst the van driver is undoubtedly a CF, it seems a bit of a waste of police time given I don’t need my car and I’m going out at 3.

Seriously what is wrong with people

You have to do something, don't you?

Where's all your rage???? I'd let the air out of the tyres if I didn't need them to move.

dadshere · 07/08/2018 13:27

8 small tacks. 1in front of, and 1 behind each tyre. Wear gloves. My dh's friend was blocked in by some builders working on a neighbours house. He went round and asked them (politely) to move, they threatened to kick his head in if he didn't F -off etc. He called his brother's skip hire company and put two large skips around the van. The van stayed there for a looooong time.

kes53 · 07/08/2018 13:29

i really do not understand why OP does not inform the police! I believe it is an offence. Dealing herself might mean dealing with an unpleasant bod and suffering repeat parking to annoy her.

DontCallMeCharlotte · 07/08/2018 13:29

people like this don't care about notes. they would just drive off and not give it a second thought. You need to make it hurt somehow.

I know but it would make me feel better Smile

Heismyopendoor · 07/08/2018 13:33

You should call the police.

JacquesHammer · 07/08/2018 13:35

i really do not understand why OP does not inform the police!

As I said earlier - complete waste of police time as (a) I don't have to use my car and (b) I'm going out shortly anyway.

I'd let the air out of the tyres if I didn't need them to move

I need my car out tomorrow - there's no point doing anything that's going to cause even more hassle to me Smile

I've got plenty of photos, I've reported via the council form.

where is the rugby team when you need them? anybody remember reading about an op whose husband (I think) was a member of a rugby team & they physically lifted it out of way :) know anybody with a big vehicle that could pull it away???

mumsastudent · 07/08/2018 13:44

& loose it :)

TemptressofWaikiki · 07/08/2018 13:48

I'd be painting that wall and be very messy... Grin

JacquesHammer · 07/08/2018 13:51

I am the rugby team Grin

MadMags · 07/08/2018 13:53

Do you have anyone who could block them in just for a while??

I’m frothing for you since you’re marvellously in-frothed!

reeldoop · 07/08/2018 13:53

yes I agree, nail/tacks under each tyre is the appropriate passive aggressive way to deal with this CF if you aren't bothered about moving your car - although they and the police don't know that of course. I'd be worried about medical emergency etc myself.

2Brieornot2Brie · 07/08/2018 13:59

@EstuaryBird

We had similar. Blocked into my driveway but luckily i was able to take the tube to work. (Pain though as I had a lot to carry). I left a note on the car. Perfectly polite. Something like “please don’t park here, you’ve blocked me in”.

Came back to find the note posted through my letter box with “It’s a free country I’ll park where I fucking like” written on the back.

Hidillyho · 07/08/2018 13:59

I do love a parking thread. The one recently had a satisfying end to it (the CF then got blocked in after a school run so let down OPs tires)

viques · 07/08/2018 14:01

I would be leaning heavily on my car horn...... If they had equipment in a trailer they won't be far away and will hear .
