Lazy morning, looked out of the front about 9.30ish to see a van parked partly over my drive.

I'm completely blocked in.

To add insult to injury, they're parked over the entire pavement and due to a deeds anomaly, I own that land too.

No idea where they are.

Sadly I have to go out at 3pm (not by car) so hoping I catch them before then!

Hope you left a rude note!

RebootYourEngine · 07/08/2018 18:54

Mono what a cheeky fucker. Good on you for not letting him get away with that.

@BarbaraofSevillle Tue 07-Aug-18 12:34:01 Phone 101 and tell them the van is preventing you from leaving your drive. 101 typically looks up the reg, phones the owner and tells them to move

Can they really do that? I know that it's possible in theory, even though the DVLA don't normally take telephone numbers, but if John Smith has a van registered at 123 Acacia Avenue and there's a phone contract also registered to John Smith at 123 Acacia Avenue, but it all seems a bit joined up.

Yes, if someone is blocking you in your drive you can phone 101, give them the car reg and they will phone the car's owner (no idea how the police have that number). When I phoned once the 101 lady said 'Oh, this car is registered to someone in Wales, so not sure what it's doing in West London today'. She phoned the owner, he didn't answer, phoned him again a few mins later, he answered and said 'I'm on a flight to Greece, so can't move car.' 101 said, we'll have to tow it then and suddenly 'someone' turns up with keys to the car and moved it from across my drive. The police had turned up at that point and this 'someone' said he was 'just a friend of the owner' but didn't have any id to prove who he was Hmm 'just a friend' indeed.

Worth phoning 101 if someone is blocking you.

I'd never think of parking I've a drive. Someone near us posted a picture of someone blocking their drive on Facebook, it soon got recognised as the picture spread

LartenCrepsley · 07/08/2018 19:29

Are you home yet, OP???

Notasyoungasiwas · 07/08/2018 21:25

If only it wasn’t compulsory to read every thread

😂 Made me chuckle

JacquesHammer · 07/08/2018 21:26

Sorry. Not home yet - away overnight.

Van was still in situ at 6.30pm.

I think my neighbours are as invested as I am 😂

Can't even imagine thinking about parking over someone's drive. Unreal.

Troels · 07/08/2018 22:14

It's always good to get the neighbours invested in it too. Well done.

Happinessisabook · 08/08/2018 07:52

Let us know if it's still there when you get home today op

LittleMe03 · 08/08/2018 08:19

CF's! It would have pissed me off after 30 mins whether I needed to use my car or not Angry

Oysterbabe · 08/08/2018 08:28

Is it still there?

visitorthedog · 08/08/2018 08:32

I want to read the school run one!’

ThanosSavedMe · 08/08/2018 08:33

You’re so calm op. Probably the right attitude as being angry would have just ruined your night away.

Hope there is an update though!

TwoBlueShoes · 08/08/2018 08:36

Yes, what possesses people to do this?

I can sort of understand if you are just going to be a few minutes, but its just so rude.

Peachypips · 08/08/2018 08:40

Is the van still there this morning?

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 08/08/2018 08:45

Phone 101 and tell them the van is preventing you from leaving your drive. 101 typically looks up the reg, phones the owner and tells them to move

We have a similar set up and the police did exactly this. In our case the offending car had been used and parked by the owner’s son. The owner was most apologetic and it was moved promptly. I used the police website to provide positive feedback so hopefully the officer got some credit for her efforts.

JacquesHammer · 08/08/2018 08:46

Just on my way home. Not had a text from neighbour so will drop them a message after 9

OP posts:
MadMags · 08/08/2018 09:54

What will you do if it’s still there? Because you need the car today don’t you?

JacquesHammer · 08/08/2018 09:54

Today I need the car so if it’s still there then I will follow up with the police

LartenCrepsley · 08/08/2018 10:04

Can anyone link the school run thread, please? I love a good parking thread, but I think I must have missed that one.

JacquesHammer · 08/08/2018 10:39

UPDATE

Just got back. Van apparently moved last night some time between 8.30 and 9.30.

However, van is back on the road this morning further down (and blocking no-one) so if I catch them, I'll have a word.

OP posts:
MadMags · 08/08/2018 10:48

The fucker! Who just parks across someone’s drive???

AintNobodyHereButUsChickens · 08/08/2018 12:40

Glad the van has moved, cheeky fuckers. Hope you manage to catch the driver and have a word!

What's the school run thread?

ThumbWitchesAbroad · 08/08/2018 13:40

If the land outside your wall is still yours, you can put rocks/cement posts in to prevent other CFs from parking there in future.
Or maybe even penguin bollards... Grin
