To run out the shop and kick my ankle?

Because the person on the till made an error that resulted in me getting a bottle of sun cream for free. Am I naughty for not returning to pay and shouting YES as soon as the car door shut ?

OP posts:

Why did it make you kick your ankle Confused

Orlandointhewilderness · 06/08/2018 14:35

Yes it's theft.

Sparklingbrook · 06/08/2018 14:36

The person on the till may want to kick your ankle when they are explaining why it's short.

AlonsoTigerHeart · 06/08/2018 14:37

Not much happens in your life if this is a highlight to you

HarrietKettleWasHere · 06/08/2018 14:37

Fine, you got it for free. YABU for thinking it's cool and bragging about it.

Elphame · 06/08/2018 14:38

Yes - it's not a victimless crime and the minimum wage shop assistant may well have to make up any shortfall in their till.

Celebelly · 06/08/2018 14:45

Do you mean click your heels like that little jump to the side thing? I don't know why anyone would kick their ankles in celebration!

IKnowItsTIMHONKSTIMHONKS · 06/08/2018 14:48

THIEF

TheOnlyLivingBoyInNewCross · 06/08/2018 14:51

I am baffled by you kicking your ankle.

ToDarnHot · 06/08/2018 14:51

A 'free' bottle of Sun lotion, yeah, really worth celebrating.

Gorrillagirlfanclub · 06/08/2018 14:52

Oh for gods sake! If its a big shop the till isn't going to be short!! Big shops can afford lots of wastage which this will count as.

rubyjude · 06/08/2018 14:59

You just knowingly kind of stole. Bad karma. I'd go take it back and pay for it.

IDontEatFriedTurtle · 06/08/2018 14:59

Yes - it's not a victimless crime and the minimum wage shop assistant may well have to make up any shortfall in their till.

That's not true or legal. And how would they know that a sun screen went missing from that till? They don't film the stuff going through and compare it to the receipts.

Ankle kicking is a bit 80's team building/ PSA video. Jump up and throw your arm in the air and kick your ankle.

I think OP must mean like when Oliver and Fagin dance off kicking their ankles together...that celebratory move. Maybe English isn't her first language.

ChelleDawg2020 · 06/08/2018 15:01

It's not theft. You asked to buy x amount of goods, the shop assistant offered to sell them to you at y price. Whether or not this was the price the management intended is irrelevant, the employee made the offer to you and you seized it.

In any case any gains you make are likely to be offset by other pricing errors that work against you. I've lost count of the times I've been overcharged by a couple of quid, usually because the BOGOF sign is up but the till doesn't recognise it - it's not worth the hassle of arguing over. The feeling of euphoria when they mis-scan something in your favour more than offsets it.

Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose.

serbska · 06/08/2018 15:02

Thats kinda lame.

LatteAndLettuce · 06/08/2018 15:04

Have you thought about getting out more? Grin

InfiniteVariety · 06/08/2018 15:05

I'm embarrassed for you

arethereanyleftatall · 06/08/2018 15:05

Tesco - yanbu
Local independent shop - yabu

LunaMay · 06/08/2018 15:06

pfft the price of decent sunscreen here, id probably not say anything either Blush

MarklesMerkin · 06/08/2018 15:08

pfft the price of decent sunscreen here, id probably not say anything either It's one thing not to say anything but would you kick your ankles in some kind of celebratory dance on the way to the car before shouting YES!? Wink

TerfsUp · 06/08/2018 15:10

Go back and pay for it. You know that the shop made a mistake and not to rectify the error is theft on your part.
