To run out the shop and kick my ankle?

Because the person on the till made an error that resulted in me getting a bottle of sun cream for free. Am I naughty for not returning to pay and shouting YES as soon as the car door shut ?

I'm just imagining someone running from a shop kicking themselves awkwardly and aggressively.

MarthaArthur · 07/08/2018 11:44

Why would you not complain about being charged twice? A commodity store is not the same as personal loss. In real life normal people dont take things back. Its not theft or fraud no matter how you look at it. And only self righteous mumsnet ever pretend they never do this. But then again mumsnet is also full of rich people who dont believe in poverty so money is easy come easy go for them.

JacquesHammer · 07/08/2018 11:48

Fairly grim to be giving yourself a pat on the back for theft.

FiveShelties · 07/08/2018 11:57

I am definitely not rich MarthArthur - but if I take something that I have not paid for then that is theft. I am not self righteous but I do not steal.

PhewNowIKnow · 07/08/2018 12:22

They definitely will not try and track the OP down from cctv images

I would have thought that too, until I read about a woman who had shopped in Tesco (trying to find the article). She had been wearing a scarf but once in store she took it off and draped it over her arm/elbow. She did her shopping, paid and went home.

A couple of days later the police arrived at her home and arrested her for alleged shoplifting.

Tesco had identified her on cctv and used cctv timestamp to associate her transaction with her club card details.

She had not stolen anything, she only put her scarf on her arm, for comfort.

ShumpaLumpa · 07/08/2018 12:28

In my book, it's theft. I'm not sure why you're bragging about it here?

The only person who may possibly give a shit that you got it for free is your mum or dad.

ourkidmolly · 07/08/2018 12:33

I feel for the op if this is the most exciting celebration that their life can muster. Jeez. Clicking your heels over a 'free' 250ml of sun cream? Bizarre. Your day to day existence must be pretty shite.

If you really think that would it be kind of you to mock her and call her life shit? Weird morals there. I'd think it was less likely her life was shite than that she's actually a bit skint and happy to not get fleeced for sun cream.

YANBU
I'd have briskly walked to my car, smirking and once inside said 'YESSS' with at least one clenched fist. After that I'd have rung my daughters to tell them triumphantly about the episode and ended the conversations with 'RESULT!' possibly with same fist clenched.
Nice one OP Cake

ToDarnHot · 07/08/2018 13:28

I don't think the OP can be that hard up or she would be buying boots own brand not amber solaire.

Msbagel you could also do a meme for Facebook. A picture of the sunscreen with the slogan. "This year I'm staying burn free" or someone thing equally hilarious.

The best was the £16 fresh cod fillets that the cashier didn’t scan, was even happier once I went to cook them and they were clearly off. But I’m obviously a horrible thief and deserve a lengthy sentence to show me the error of my rotten cod stealing ways.

Channelling Lynne Truss for a moment, do you mean you "rotten, cod-stealing ways", or your "rotten-cod stealing ways". Grin

Beeziekn33ze · 08/08/2018 01:27

Basta. 👍
