Stupid I know but I was looking forward to it.

Drive it back: they'll give you the right one and usually a token thingy so you get a free one next time.

GunpowderGelatine · 05/08/2018 12:29

I'm not sure I believe the apple story either. Clocking up on a McMuffin is one thing but putting in the bag 4 items that McDonalds don't sell or even stock is a one way ticket to getting sacked.

crimsonlake · 05/08/2018 12:33

I feel your pain. I once ordered fish and chips to be delivered, never done it before and usually only treat myself to this at the seaside. When it eventually turned up, it was chips minus the fish, I was so gutted.

ReservoirDogs · 05/08/2018 13:06

Call them.

Like another poster our local one will put your name in.the book and you get a free meal.next time.

Eliza In France they did this to me, I was so disappointed! Everything else was lovely according to my friends but I only had the fries so it was a bit of a disappointment.

Yanbu. I can make you feel better though.

I got all the way home and opened the bag and it was filled with serviettes and sauces! No food and I was starving!

Ucantarguewistupid · 05/08/2018 14:17

What's the difference between coke zero and diet? Neither have sugar bothbartificial sweetness? Do they really taste different?

WhatToDoAboutWailmerGoneRogue · 05/08/2018 18:47

What pisses me off the most with mcds is this nonsense of not salting the fries.

If I want to eat a week's worth of salt in one meal - the blue moon that I decide to do that - don't moderate my choices.

Eliza9917 Nobody is trying to moderate your choices, fries should always be salted; if they are not, crew are not following procedure and managers will correctively coach them.

It is absolutely unacceptable for fries not to be salted with the correct amount of salt in the correct way (yes, there is a specific procedure for how to salt fries). The only exception is if the customer has specifically requested unsalted fries.

Every single product in McDonalds has a gold standard - as in, exactly what it should look, taste, feel, smell like when made correctly. It is extremely detailed and crew are coached on what gold standard products are and what they look like, and they are aware that is what is expected of them when making our products.

Unsalted fries completely offsets the taste and should never be given out unless a specific request is made. I have worked in several stores and have never known crew to not salt the fries automatically; it is part of training of the fry station, there is a ‘test’ on how to work the station and how fries should be made.

Obviously human error is a factor and someone may get distracted, say if three of their baskets should be pulled or dutied at the same time, but crew trainers, area leaders and managers look out for this and correctively coach, as we do not want to be giving out product that is not gold standard.

Coke Zero is sweetened with a combination of aspartame and acesulfame potassium (Ace-K). Coke Zero is the same basic formula as classic Coke while Diet Coke is a different formula completely. Diet Coke is sweetened with aspartame only.

neveradullmoment99 · 05/08/2018 20:09

Sounds very healthy - not! Answered by google.

QuestionableMouse · 05/08/2018 20:18

I'm another one calling rubbish on the apple story.

Mistakes happen. It's extremely busy and hectic and it's quite easy to grab the wrong bag/item then hand it out. I don't typically work on drive through (I'm a customer experience leader so work on dining area) but today in my store we had did 160 odd cars in an hour.

SneakyGremlins · 05/08/2018 20:26

I totally believe the apple story - after all, instead of chicken nuggets McDonald's once gave me six live chickens, uncooked potatoes and a £2500 WHSmith voucher! Xmas Grin

Tunnocks34 · 05/08/2018 20:29

Nope. Not at all.

I remember once ordered a bacon and egg mcbagel meal when I was pregnant with my second son. And I got to work and it was a sausage and egg mcbagel meal. I cried at bit (frustration tears) and then anger tweeted them 😂

Littlejayx · 05/08/2018 20:34

The worst is when they forget the dips.

nomilknosugarplease · 05/08/2018 20:36

WhatToDo You should’ve done an AMA thread about being a Mcdonald’s manager!!! I love hearing about what goes on behind the scenes. Is it true that everyone hates it when people ask for an apple pie as they take so long Grin

writingsonthewall · 05/08/2018 20:37

They always forget the dips

MrsGrindah · 05/08/2018 20:37

Those of you who check....do you really take the stuff out of the bag, unwrap the , say, burger, lift up the bun to check what’s inside etc. all whilst still at the head of the queue then?

WhatToDoAboutWailmerGoneRogue · 05/08/2018 20:40

nomilknosugarplease That’s a good idea actually! I think I might start one now...

And no, we don’t mind customers ordering apple pies as long as they understand when we explain that if we don’t have any ready they will take several minutes to cook.

SneakyGremlins · 05/08/2018 20:41

Mrs That's why I don't go to drive through unless it's just a drink! Easier to check food at a table inside.

WhatToDoAboutWailmerGoneRogue · 05/08/2018 20:47

MrsGrindah It’s a lot easier for customers to check their orders now in our refurbished EOTF stores as they have the collection point counter and aren’t holding others behind them up.

I am always happy for a customer to double check their order. I would rather they leave happy and knowing they have everything they want than get home and be disappointed.

Bambamber · 05/08/2018 20:50

YANBU

I have dietary requirements so I am very limited with what I can order. If they got my order wrong (I have to customise what I can have) and I didn't notice until I had a bite, it could have very serious consequences. I never go through the drive through for this reason, although I generally dont go often anyway

Goth237 · 05/08/2018 20:55

No, not at all. We've had it happen the past two times we've ordered through UberEats. They forgot a Happy Meal completely and before that they forgot a McFlurry. Not to say that they didn't refund, but still, get your shit together!

Disquieted1 · 05/08/2018 20:59

So that's why there's a 50 car queue at the drive thru: everyone's checking their orders!

OctaviaOctober · 05/08/2018 21:00

They don't salt the fries anymore? Shock
