Amazon Prime next day delivery is false advertising.

So Amazon Prime, that I pay a reasonable amount of membership for each month, is no longer next day delivery?

I have noticed over the last month that their Prime next day delivery is actually taking two days.
So if I order today I won’t get my items until Monday now.

I don’t mind the waiting two days, that’s still a good delivery time BUT what I do mind is I’m paying the membership due to wanting next day delivery.

I am a bit pissed off that basically it’s false advertising on their part. They push Prime membership being next day delivery on Prime items which TBH is the main draw of Paying the membership!

It’s also the bloody sneaky way they are stopping the next day. After doing a quick google it seems they have slowly been offering next day to less and less customers rather than put out a statement explaining they are no longer offering the next day but are offering x,y,z.

So AIBU and it’s not a big deal, just suck it up and think yourself lucky you get two days delivery time,
Or be a bit miffed they charge £10 per month with one of the biggest makerting points being next day delivery and email them showing my distaste Grin

I’ve noticed eBay free deliveries are getting quicker than amazon now. Frequently I go to eBay instead.

ElenOfTheWays · 04/08/2018 12:48

I think my favourite was when I ordered 3 items on Prime one of which was an add on item (too cheap to send out separately) and all 3 arrived on different days.

What was the point of that? Smile

notapizzaeater · 04/08/2018 13:25

I don't use the next day delivery, I change it for as soon as you can delivery and have the £1 kindle credit which I save up to get a load of blokes for my kindle before I go on hols. Easily covers my prime cost each year

notapizzaeater · 04/08/2018 13:26

Doh ! Typo .... blokes = books ! Would be nice though ....

mummyhaschangedhername · 04/08/2018 13:43

I've been with them since the beginning when they just sold books. I was with prime since it started too.
But I am seriously considering leaving. Their customer service has gone right down hill. Their costs keep going up for less and less service, they are just greedy now. Even their prime tv has lots of add on for subscriptions and other things. I never watch it. Plus i did like their prime deals but they don't have so many actually good deals the ones they do go super quick and the others it's usually cheaper going elsewhere.

But eBay is loads of different people. I do buy most stuff on eBay though as most amazon sellers sell stuff through there also.

I have Prime and this week they have suddenly stopped Saturday and Sunday deliveries for me. It's not just for certain items, its every item on Amazon, so any order placed after 6pm on Thursday is now showing Monday as the earliest delivery date. I have tried to find out why, and customer services and customer relations have been really unhelpful. I went onto their Facebook page and they totally ignored me, even after I threatened to email the CEO and complain about their rudeness. What I have been told is that it is a one off technical issue that will be resolved, and they have never seen it happen before. Simply not true as there are literally hundreds of posts on other chat sites with people complaining about the exact same thing. My guess is they are withdrawing weekend deliveries in certain areas, but don't want to admit it. The odd thing is my friend across the road can still place Prime orders for Saturday and Sunday delivery, which is just stupid. So, looks like its one day delivery Monday to Thursday, then 3-4 day delivery if ordering after 6pm on Thursday. As far as I'm concerned that just isn't good enough, and not what I pay them £79 a year for.

VioletCharlotte · 04/08/2018 14:03

I don't use Amazon anymore. They have no scruples whatsoever - they avoid tax and treat their employees appallingly. I know it's convenient, but it's easy enough to buy what you need without it.

FuckPants · 04/08/2018 14:14

Amazon have gone to shit for me, the drivers are not even knocking on my door - they are just leaving parcels on my front door step.

SimonBridges · 04/08/2018 14:28

Like I said, Amazon have got everyone where they want them. It’s the Walmart model. Make a convenient and cheap shop that everyone uses so people rely on it and the competition go under. Then when you’ve got everyone where you want them drop the standards and raise the prices.

melanieage25 · 04/08/2018 14:33

I think it's fair to say that Amazon Customer Services are pretty hopeless. If you actually manage to speak to someone that understands your problem they usually try and fob you off with a promotional credit, partial refund or refund, and promises that the issue will be reported, and will not happen again. Of course nothing ever changes because it's cheaper to continue issuing these credits than actually doing anything to stop the problems occurring in the first place. My husband places hundreds of orders every year with Amazon, and he has to complain about the same old issues time and time again. Sure he's done quite well with credits and refunds, but he would far rather just have orders arrive with no issues, and not have to waste hours/days speaking to Customer Services.

Exactly, same with Uber. They can’t keep their prices low indefinitely as otherwise they won’t make much profit.

daisychain01 · 04/08/2018 16:06

Their returns policy is a joke. They just send you a new replacement if something is the wrong size or whatever but they don't want the item back.

That seems all very nice but the reason is the reverse supply chain i.e. processing returns is more costly to them than it's worth and as they are trying to keep their costs to an absolute minimum they let people keep stuff. Also it engenders more loyalty because people think that Amazon loves it's customers. They couldn't give 2 Fs in fact but like to keep that illusion going. They earn so much dirty profit they can afford to throw some away if the nett effect is less process and more customer dependency.

melanieage25 · 04/08/2018 16:33

Quite right daisychain01, I am often told to keep defective items and not bother to send them back. I think they generally apply this rule for anything under £15-£20 because it costs them too much to pay for return couriers and restocking. I think that after three days of banging my head against the wall trying to resolve account and delivery issues with Amazon, your second statement is also correct. They dress it up to make it look as if they are CustomerCentric (whatever that actually means) but they really dont give 2 Fs.

We place literally thousands of pounds worth of orders with them every year, for home and business items. This morning I went onto their Facebook page for help, and after 3 messages to them they never even bothered to reply, even though they were replying to everyone else.

Why via Facebook?

Amazon have live chat on their website.

arranfan · 04/08/2018 16:57

We're cancelling our Prime for the same reason. Not only does it mostly take 2 days but even on the day it's too often not delivered because the couriers have a huge number of drop-offs to perform.

The US has had 2 day delivery for a while and I think Amazon is transitioning to everyone outside cities the size of Birmingham and London to get used to it.

melanieage25 · 04/08/2018 17:12

F*Pants. The Facebook Team are all in the UK, whereas the Customer Service Team are based out in Asia, unless you get out through to one of the few left in the R.O Ireland. I quickly realised that speaking to many of the Asian call centre staff was about as productive as using a chocolate teapot. This was my first contact with the Facebook Team, and unfortunately they turned out to be equally useless. Unfortunately if you ever need any issue resolved by Amazon that cannot be sorted by a £5 voucher, or partial refund, you need to email [email protected] who is the UK CEO. He delegates all enquiries to his personal team Monday to Friday, and at the weekend the emails go straight to Jeff Bezos - probably aboard his yacht.

Thanks, I've never had any problems with their live chat but that ^ is helpful to know.

Update on this on Sky News...

news.sky.com/story/amazon-must-clarify-misleading-one-day-delivery-claim-11470025

The Amazon spokesperson quoted sounds a tad optimistic in the face of what a large prior portion of customers are experiencing!

Davros · 12/08/2018 17:45

But many of us in London are having the same problems

imnotreally · 12/08/2018 17:59

In the US it's two day delivery.

DrinkFeckArseGirls · 12/08/2018 18:02

Yep, i complained the other day and they said the item must have not been in the warehouse. Hmm so why the heck just before and after I placed the order it was saying next day?
