Amazon Prime next day delivery is false advertising.

So Amazon Prime, that I pay a reasonable amount of membership for each month, is no longer next day delivery?

I have noticed over the last month that their Prime next day delivery is actually taking two days.
So if I order today I won’t get my items until Monday now.

I don’t mind the waiting two days, that’s still a good delivery time BUT what I do mind is I’m paying the membership due to wanting next day delivery.

I am a bit pissed off that basically it’s false advertising on their part. They push Prime membership being next day delivery on Prime items which TBH is the main draw of Paying the membership!

It’s also the bloody sneaky way they are stopping the next day. After doing a quick google it seems they have slowly been offering next day to less and less customers rather than put out a statement explaining they are no longer offering the next day but are offering x,y,z.

So AIBU and it’s not a big deal, just suck it up and think yourself lucky you get two days delivery time,
Or be a bit miffed they charge £10 per month with one of the biggest makerting points being next day delivery and email them showing my distaste Grin

I've messaged them bout this too. I said so basically you say it's prime but it depends where I live and where the item is as to whether I'll get it!
Basically said yes.

ArcadePixie · 03/08/2018 16:40

I order a lot from Amazon and I always get them next day.

JacquesHammer · 03/08/2018 16:41

Could it be your location? In my area in London I still get next day delivery (same day too!), the only time next day delivery wasn’t available was just before a bank holiday

I don’t think it’s a location issue as it’s a fairly newish issue for me. Had membership for ages with no issue, then started getting problems just before Christmas.

NT53NJT · 03/08/2018 16:42

I get 95% of stuff next day (even on sundays) so after my student trial is up I I'll continue to pay £3.99 p/month for prime

Up until roughly a month ago I was getting next day delivery on most Prime items.

I did notice a few weeks ago that I did next day Prime delivery on something I ordered and it actually came a day late. Since then the Prime delivery seems to be two days.

It seems to be a fairly common issue going by Google but honestly I was completely ignorant of it and dutifully paid my membership thinking what a great service it was!

Very bad of Amazon to falsely advertise a service unavailable to anyone outside of London!

Just checked my latest order as a matter of interest.

Checkout out last night with all three items showing Saturday delivery (totally fine, I missed cut off point).

Now two are showing for Monday delivery.

JacquesHammer · 03/08/2018 16:45

Although they’re only showing for Monday delivery when you click into each item. Overview shows as delivery tomorrow.

Sneaky.

IceCreamFace · 03/08/2018 16:46

Isn't it just that if you order after a certain time you can't have next day delivery?

SleepingInYourFlowerbed · 03/08/2018 16:47

I'm still getting next day delivery with no issues. Had a delivery yesterday. I'm in Surrey

yunalis · 03/08/2018 16:47

The only things that aren't one day for me are the things coming from one of the other European warehouses (mostly Germany). I don't really have a problem with that as they tell me how long it will take when I order.

If they miss a delivery date I get either an extra month of prime or a voucher. I'm a very happy customer.

Bobbybear10 · 03/08/2018 16:47

Does anyone know if they have a disclaimer stating Prime next day delivery is only in certain areas on their TV adverts?
I mean if they don’t then really I think they should! Especially if people are being tricked into paying membership without fair warning that they may not get the full service.

LightTripper · 03/08/2018 16:48

I had just noticed this and thinking I had to look into it! I don't get much value out of the music or TV so I think I'll canx too...

yunalis · 03/08/2018 16:48

I'm in the north too, nowhere near London.

NameChangeUni · 03/08/2018 16:51

To be fair, I have just checked amazon prime items with an old address in the Midlands and it says that One Day Delivery will arrive on Wednesday 8th August which is a bit awful. Can definitely see why you’re annoyed

If you complain to amazon, I have read that they may give you a prime refund or free prime membership or a gift card etc.

I assume that in their T&Cs that they’ll probably have a clause about next day delivery being unavailable to remove them of any liability

Hermie12 · 03/08/2018 16:51

I've bought a few things over the past couple of weeks on Amazon with free delivery. I don't pay for Prime. Despite standard delivery usually saying 4-5 days everything has arrived in 2 days. So yes, I'd be annoyed if I was paying the extra and not getting a next day service.

ProfYaffle · 03/08/2018 16:51

I always suspected that for us it was a combination of our location (fairly rural) combined with the fact that I order a lot of low value items. I presume that must be uneconomic.

If that is the case though, it's no excuse for taking money for a service they can't provide.

JacquesHammer · 03/08/2018 16:52

Isn't it just that if you order after a certain time you can't have next day delivery?

No, I’m deliberately discounting times when I’ve missed the cut off for next day.

PoesyCherish · 03/08/2018 16:52

I've noticed this too that less and less things are being offered as next day. Frustrating. But if you order quite a lot it's still cheaper to pay for prime than to pay for delivery each time plus you also get music and prime video.

Bobbybear10 · 03/08/2018 16:52

IceCreamFace

No it seems to be two days delivery on all prime items for me now (although some listings say one day until I checkout!)

I didn’t have a problem until a month ago and it looks like people were having this issue from as far back as middle 2017. Maybe they are stopping next day for everyone eventually but as it seems to be silent on Amazon’s part who knows?

NameChangeUni · 03/08/2018 16:52

Absolve* them

Yogagirl123 · 03/08/2018 16:53

If it wasn’t for the tv I cancel too. Delivery is too slow and the prices aren’t as good as they used to be and they seem to have developed a new annoying habit when the prices of the items in your basket can change (going up of course!) without warning.

TwoFs · 03/08/2018 16:54

I’m having the opposite problem today! I ordered something and delivery was to be Saturday. Perfect I thought, I can be home till it arrives. Just had a message to say I’ve had an unsuccessful delivery at 4pm today. They haven’t even left it with a neighbour as specified on my account. Sigh!

yunalis · 03/08/2018 16:54

Prof I buy loads of low value items from them and they still really like me 😂

drivingmisspotty · 03/08/2018 16:55

In the old days, when there was no tv included and you had to pay an annual subscription I used to complain whenever something came late and they would give me an extra month free, no quibbling.

Have you tried complaining to see if they will give you any inticements?

ThatchersCold · 03/08/2018 16:56

It’s nothing to do with third party sellers, who are not ‘ruining the site’.

I am a third party amazon seller. Sellers get the choice to be fulfilled by amazon, in which case they send their stock to amazon who then store them and send them when sold. By doing this sellers can offer their goods as part of Prime (and pay a hefty premium for doing so).

The other option is fullfilled by merchant,
Where you send things to customers directly (much like eBay). These sellers will NEVER show as being available as Prime delivery.

So if you are ordering stuff through Prime but it’s a third party seller rather than amazon selling it, it’s Amazon’s cock up if it doesn’t turn up as it’s them who are warehousing and dispatching it.
