To feel terrified after reading the prepping for Brexit threads?

999 replies

LittleNapRefuser · 28/07/2018 20:26

I have genuinely cried real tears of fear after reading the threads on prepping for Brexit today. I have a toddler and right now I am terrified of what is to come and their future after all this.

I don't really have anyone to talk to about this in 'real life' because most people I know aren't reading the news or don't seem to care.

Should I be terrified? Should I be scared for my baby's future? Can anyone reassure me or offer me an alternative perspective on all this. I don't want to to put my head in the sand but I feel really afraid.

lindalee my head is in my hands 🙄

velourvoyageur · 28/07/2018 22:20

lindalee

What's your weekly food budget?

AllIHaveToDo · 28/07/2018 22:20

It's a shit storm in the making. I intend on stockpiling cupboard food items. Couldn't give a shiny shit if someone wants to 'pass me a grip' Hmm - I find they also come in handy for when shit hits the fan. Ta!

HermioneGoesBackHome · 28/07/2018 22:22

Also it’s impossible to say we will just go back to our life before the EU.
So many things have happened, so many things ahve changed in those 40years.
You can’t just go back to something that doesnt exist anymore.

Just saying...

lindalee3 · 28/07/2018 22:22

@eightfacesofthemoon

How do you know lindalee!?

It hadn’t happened yet

Careful with your grammar and mis-spellings...

@WhoAteAllThePercyPigs will be on you like a ton of bricks.

And if you out-smart her, (like I did,) she will accuse you of being a troll.

ManicUnicorn · 28/07/2018 22:22

I don't want to sound ageist. But it's the older generation who've done this. Theyve fucked their children's futures, and their grandchildrens futures and their great grandchildren's futures and the best thing is they'll all be sodding dead when we are dealing with the fall out from something we didn't vote for.

Skyejuly · 28/07/2018 22:22

I've not done a thing.

AllIHaveToDo · 28/07/2018 22:22

There's no point trying to reason with some folk. They have their heads firmly in the sand. I just laugh at them, it's easier.

Aintnothingbutaheartache · 28/07/2018 22:22

The fan is running and there’s a bloody great big pile of shite waiting to be launched, duck

lindalee3 · 28/07/2018 22:23

@velourvoyager

lindalee - What is your weekly food budget?

What business is that of yours?

velourvoyageur · 28/07/2018 22:23

People focusing on the long-term effects are being incredibly (willfully?) shortsighted.
There are people who can't play the long game. Ffs. Who are going to have a fucking awful time if prices do rise due to Brexit.
And people like linda are perfectly happily admitting that they don't care, this is the sacrifice, these human sacrifices are going to be worth it, and they are being overdramatic to boot. Shame on them.

Demiguise · 28/07/2018 22:23

We got on perfectly well before we joined the controlling boy's club the EU, and we will get on perfectly fine when we leave, and we will be £350 million a week better off. Leaving cannot come soon enough

Absolute bullshit. That was a lie, we gain far more from EU membership than we put in, and independent fiscal studies have shown time and time again that leaving the EU, no matter what deal is struck by the Tories, WILL damage the economy - and it's those at the bottom of the pile who will suffer the most.

The sheer pigheaded determination of Leavers to ignore facts and the real, genuine worries of other people never fails to sicken me.

Aintnothingbutaheartache · 28/07/2018 22:23

Oh do get a grip FFS.

velourvoyageur · 28/07/2018 22:24

*lindalee3

Because if you have anything other than one which can only cater to the very basics of what a family needs to survive, I have no idea how you have the gall to post what you did earlier in the thread.

lindalee3 · 28/07/2018 22:24

@Demiguise

Do we FUCK get more out of the EU than we put in. Don't talk rot.

AllIHaveToDo · 28/07/2018 22:24

Lmao at lindalee saying she 'outsmarted' a PP. I must have missed that post.

rainbowsandsmiles · 28/07/2018 22:25

Allhavetodo - good idea, we should stockpile the grips too. Maybe they could come in handy as a lock picker or something for any future bunkers we might have to live in

"Brexit won't be so bad"
The whole point is that nobody knows how bad it will be.
In my professional life the people who actually run things are using the word "disaster" about Brexit. In public, in writing.

HermioneGoesBackHome · 28/07/2018 22:25

As a few posters have said, there is lots of hysteria and scaremongering being whipped up by people DESPERATE for us to stay in the EU, because THEY benefit from it.
So that’s the governemnet right? The one that is trying to negocaite Brexit and the exit from the EU? Not the Remainers. It’s the goverment is talking anti stockpiling food and médecines.

So are we saying that a government supporting Brexit is scaremongering people in thinking it will be a nightmare?? Sounds doggy to me....

lindalee3 · 28/07/2018 22:25

@AllIhavetodo

Yeah it's easy for SOME people to miss stuff hunnie

Don't beat yerself up.

velourvoyageur · 28/07/2018 22:26

what the fuck are you on about?

cmon, outsmart me plz

rainbowsandsmiles · 28/07/2018 22:27

WHAT IF ALL THE GRIPS RUN OUT FOR THE BUNKERS THOUGH?! Better get a few more bags in just in case.....

WhoAteAllthePercyPigs · 28/07/2018 22:27

@lindalee how exactly did you outsmart me? I suggested that you are a troll because I didn't want to believe anybody could be that stupid. Guess I was wrong.

Right I'm off this thread, I don't want to revert to a slanging match, it's not going to help any of us.

But this is not scaremongering. These are genuine fears and if you really think most people are happy to wait 50 years to reap the benefits of Brexit, you're as deluded as the politicians who got us into this mess.
