Am I as invisible here as in real life? Grin

The threads not dead just yet Grin

brizzledrizzle · 28/07/2018 15:02

Supermarket shopping done, might as well have been invisible as the place was empty so did a full shop in about ten minutes Grin

Has there been a zombie invasion whilst I've been out of the country?

I feel it is an achievement to kill a thread.

RayRayBidet · 28/07/2018 15:04

@Itsallabout
I thought I had done it, but I was wrong.
Can't even kill a thread anymore.

SchadenfreudePersonified · 28/07/2018 15:34

Thank you Mummy.

It is awful - but it is life and we just have to cope. I will say that you don't get over it, but you do learn to come to terms with it over time.

Flowers for your kindness.

SchadenfreudePersonified · 28/07/2018 15:39

I have to confess that I regularly look about to see if Vlad has made any appearances (harking back to the 'patio doors' 'private garden' dodgy neighbours and builders threads).

That is kind (i think . . . ), but I got so much personal abuse re:Vlad and Vanka ("You racist twat, I'm getting this post deleted" etc) that I asked the boys to keep their heads down for a while - plus Vlad has had to cope with Donald and is spending a lot of time in a darkened room with tea-bags on his eyes . . . It hasn't been easy for them.

There, there Rayray. Have some Gin. It makes everything better. Grin

DuggeesWoggle · 28/07/2018 15:47

I am also a serial thread killer over the years (and various usernames).

Started a thread the other day asking for some nice stories to help cheer me up while going through a miscarriage and got two (lovely) replies. Even when I replied to bump the thread a bit.... nothing else Sad

The best thread I ever started was a couple of years ago asking how many partially used jars people had in their fridges as I'd just counted about 16. The thread ran into pages Grin

Emotionaleater · 28/07/2018 15:58

Ohhh this is where I should definitely join in (this will prob be the last post on here Blush )

I’m new on here, used to use babycentre (don’t think they like mumsnet), anyway I’ve posted two threads, one got a few replies (maybe it was too depressing Hmm) . I decided to nc...posted another thread and had one reply! I’ve since tried to take part in another thread, and both times I don’t think anyone’s read my replies Shock

I’m not going back to babycentre just yet....Grin

TaliZorahVasNormandy · 28/07/2018 15:59

Mine are largely ignored too. I just figured I'm just not that interesting. That'll be why I'm still single 9 years later.

Socially awkward and romantically incombatible.

But then, after seeing allthe threads about useless men, I dont feel so bad about the single part.

SchadenfreudePersonified · 28/07/2018 16:00

Emotionaleater

THANK YOU VERY MUCH!

You've probably just killed a wonderful thread!

Grin
TaliZorahVasNormandy · 28/07/2018 16:01

*Incompatible. My spelling is shocking too, apparently.

arranfan · 28/07/2018 16:23

HonkyTonkWoman !

If Ian Dury had met SchadenfreudePersonified's Vlad and Vanka, they'd definitely have been included in Reasons to be Cheerful, Parts 1, 2 and 3

LloydColeandtheCoconuts · 28/07/2018 16:32

Ha ha, I thought I was the original thread killer!

I love threads like this.

waits intently for a reply that won’t come
sigh

TaliZorahVasNormandy · 28/07/2018 16:40

No killing threads on my watch, Lloyd, unless its me doing the killing.

Buswankeress · 28/07/2018 16:45

I know what you mean but more in RL than on here, I have started a couple of threads and got a respectable number of replies, and had queries answered on another thread.
But in RL I'm just kind of there neither nowt nor summat as some people say.

I do comment on threads where I feel I can offer something, but often do second guess myself that my POV or opinion will be shouted at, and so don't.

I do feel for the last person to post on this thread though...... (Probably me!)

MissionItsPossible · 28/07/2018 16:55

I will post something, and my post will get ignored.

Five posts down the line SOMEONE WILL SAY THE EXACT SAME THING AS ME - and there will be a DELUGE of congratulatory posts and WOW!!!! Poster X is SO ASTUTE AND INTELLIGENT AND INSIGHTFUL etc etc etc. And then fifty other posters will chip in.

And I am sitting thinking "I said that. Said it first. It was me. X HAS PLAGIARISED MY GOLDEN WORDS."

I made this point earlier in this thread. Nobody responded to it. 😭

SeaToSki · 28/07/2018 17:02

I started my first thread a while ago (after a large glass of red wine) and didn't get a single reply. So I have started trying to reply to threads that don't have a reply yet.

Maybe we should have a team of MNetters who watch for lonely threads and post a nice reply. Maybe someone could think of a cool name for them? (Hoping someone else can come up with a good name, as I have no imagination)

RayRayBidet · 28/07/2018 17:03

@MissionItsPossible
Don't cry, it's not you, it's MN.

FuzzyCustard · 28/07/2018 17:05

My saddest was posting on "Life Limiting Illness" and not receiving any acknowledgment, never mind a response for many days.

FuzzyCustard · 28/07/2018 17:06

schady I always though Vanka was a woman. Like Ivanka. Have I been wrong all this time?

brizzledrizzle · 28/07/2018 17:39

Fuzzy Flowers I've had that too.

and you 'orrible lot have proved me right Grin

Unless you are all zombies too of course Grin
