I once started a thread that had about 500 posts on it. I felt like a celebrity for a bit but then I got ignored on my own thread. So I just sat and watched the tumbleweed passing by instead.

I was the Thread Slayer on Usenet and at University. If I wasn't killing threads I was being invisible. I could spin it and say that it was my wisdom and intellect meant that someone could not add anything else.

Mainly sea. Have done a bit of WW and open canoeing too but much prefer the sea. Nothing wrong with a wooden stick. I don't use one myself but a lot of my friends do and it doesn't hold them back. Just personal preference I think, though a few have switched to see if it helps with their joint pains and it generally seems to.

Have you ever done open canoeing on the sea with a sail? It looks fabulous but it's tricky for me to have the confidence that I could do it. I veer between fantasising about myself scudding atop the waves, wind in the sail, like a miniature Onedin Line, and the next moment that I'd be capsized and struggling with tarpaulin.

No MissClareRemembers today isn't your day, maybe.....

My ability to kill a thread when I first joined was almost magical. It seems to have lessened over the years.

I've written more than one post that someone else has copied it almost verbatim, and I'm sitting there thinking, what the hell, and wondering if like brizzledrizzle I'm invisible and am actually just a figment of my own imagination.
