to think the worst part of the heatwave is the constantly sweaty (ahem) vulva?

Yes, I have NC'd for this. Blush

Anyone else getting irritated by constant irritation due to the heat? The sweat causes 'paper cuts' and it stings when I have a bath etc.

Roll on autumn!!!

I don't tend to get this, i sweat on the back of my neck so need to wear my hair up though.

I would say and the reason I'm posting is I think if you're getting tears down there and your nipples are itchy and peeling (unless they have been sunburned) it may be wise to see a doctor, as something else could be going on.

waterlego6064 · 25/07/2018 05:47

Gwenhwyfar I’m pleased for you that you aren’t experiencing these problems; you seem a little incredulous that others are, and determined to pin this on weight and other factors.

For what’s it’s worth, I am slim and muscular and I sweat buckets. I have always been a copious sweater and it is getting worse now I’m in my 40s.

For me, there is also a link with anxiety, which results in a self-perpetuating loop: I worry about sweating and that makes me sweat more.

If you use your imagination a little, you will learn that we’re not all the same as you.

waterlego6064 · 25/07/2018 05:54

I find a full bush better than bald for the vulva sweating. Everything rubs more when the skin is smooth.

I teach exercise classes and am completely soaked by the end of each class- wet hair and clothes. The sweat rolls into my eyes (even if I’m wearing a sweat band) which really, really stings and which makes it quite difficult to teach 😆

I have LS - itching, sweating, paper cuts galore. The heat of summer is the worst time for it I find. Definitely worth getting checked as I wouldn’t be without the cream I use for it...

usernameismyusername · 25/07/2018 06:22

I wear period pants for this reason. Can't stand a sweaty minge.

usernameismyusername · 25/07/2018 06:22

Meaning I don't wear them just for periods, I wear them for freshness.

Jorah · 25/07/2018 06:26

I am 50 something, a bit overweight and I don't get any of this. I'd actually be a bit alarmed if I had so much sweat from my fanj that it felt like paper cuts Shock

Are you sure it's not cystitis or thrush or something?

I do get a very mildly sweaty underboob but that has improved hugely since using soap rather than shower gel and drying thoroughly.

Timefortea99 · 25/07/2018 06:27

I am in London so very hot here. But can honestly say I have not experienced any of these symptoms. I rarely wear skirts but have recently and as a prevention for chub rub I apply Glide so have not had any problems. I am about a stone overweight with largish boobs but no underboob sweat!

Seabreeze18 · 25/07/2018 06:32

Sweating is normal. Anyone not sweating in the heat has a problem. It’s just your body trying to cool itself. Very clever really!
Love the tips though!

Jorah · 25/07/2018 06:34

I am sure I'm completely normal! I definitely don't get a noticeably sweaty fanj. I get sweaty at the back of my neck. Armpits too but deodorant

picklemepopcorn · 25/07/2018 07:06

Washable pads are your friend! They don't irritate when you wear them every day, and keep your skin dry. Without them, my whole groin area gets sore.

Bluntness100 · 25/07/2018 07:38

I don't think anyone is saying sweating is abnormal, what is being said is that if your skin is tearing, like paper cuts, that's something that should likely be looked at by a doctor. Sweating shouldn't make your skin rip.

In addition one poster stated her nipples were itchy and peeling, again that should probably be looked at by a doctor unless she has been sunburned.

Snog · 25/07/2018 08:04

For those with chub rub, ditch the shorts, this will change your life

"If you use your imagination a little, you will learn that we’re not all the same as you."

Well others here could use their imagination as well and realise that not everyone is like them. Also, what is so wrong about trying to find the cause of this problem?

I'm 41 so if sweat increases in your forties, I might get these problems too so it's good for me to know about.

ToadOfSadness · 25/07/2018 09:21

Loose cotton skirt and no knickers for me too.

I couldn't face these, but people to wear them www.suzannecharles.co.uk/briefs/100-combed-cotton-directoire-knickers.html

bleedingbanshee · 25/07/2018 09:26

Is no one else getting under-arse sweat? The backs of my thighs are like Niagara falls when I'm on the tube

waterlego6064 · 25/07/2018 09:39

Well yes Gwen, that kind of is what people are doing by asking ‘Is anyone else finding....’ I don’t think anyone has said that they can’t understand why others DON’T have a sweaty vulva 😂

You might get sweatier in your 40s, or you might not. I’ve always been very hot blooded so it’s just ramped up a notch!

Gwenhwyfar · 25/07/2018 09:50

waterlego - one poster posted something like 'sweating is normal' so I think some people on here are missing the point that while sweating is normal some of the reactions here are extreme. Of course, I sweat too, but I find it's solved by my morning shower, and if it was really bad a shower at night too.
I've also wondered whether some people are just more worried about it than they need to be.
The paper cuts thing is not normal even though OP seemed to think it is.

waterlego6064 · 25/07/2018 09:54

No, I agree that the paper cut thing might need checking out.

The ‘worrying’ is an interesting point. I do worry about my sweating, and then the anxiety makes me sweat more- it’s a self-perpetuating thing!

I think it’s reasonable to assume that there is a wide range of what is ‘normal’ in terms of sweating. I often wake up in a pool of sweat, which is partly thanks to the peri-menopause, I suspect.

I agree that we should all open our minds a bit to understand that some people sweat more/less than we do, and that this doesn’t mean there is anything abnormal about them, or about us.

arranfan · 25/07/2018 10:10

I'm slender, thigh gap etc. pretty much all the way down,

GladAllOver · 25/07/2018 10:20

One of the advantages of working at home is not having to wear anything at all. No clothes to stop the body cooling itself naturally. I do lay a towel on the chair seat though.

GladAllOver · 25/07/2018 10:30

Not wishing to divert the discussion, but does anyone else find that the warm weather increases their libido?
When DH comes home and steps out of the shower I just want to jump on him. He hasn't complained yet, fortunately. :)

RiverTam · 25/07/2018 10:40

I'm the exact opposite, I almost can't bear anyone (DH, DD) touching me. Completely sapped of energy. It's nearly 30 degrees and airless in our bedroom.
