AIBU unreasonable to wonder what Mumsnet has "ruined" for you? (lighthearted)

Had to take eldest to his volunteering job today - drove past some men putting up scaffolding and in great big letters the company name of C&F Scaffolding. And where I work, there are colleagues who show up as being in CF . In their world I think it's because they work in Core Finance but it's now just so wrong.

So Mumsnet have ruined the letters C and F for me.

What have they "ruined" for you?

That teachers are good role models and intelligent caring types!

First time on MN I was attacked by one for daring to ask something about a teacher at DS’s school. They called me “that parent” and “bitch”.

Since then I have read thread after thread where teachers talk badly about the children they teach, parents, their profession.

I now view teachers in a different light.

Loo brushes

NemoRocksMyWorld · 24/07/2018 16:06

I now have to use a butterknife to eke out every last bean in the tin.....never cared before!

Osirus · 24/07/2018 16:13

Being content with not being able to drive (for many reasons). MN makes me feel like a huge failure for this, when it didn’t bother me before.

Butcowsdontgetmarried · 24/07/2018 16:44

Ham of the naice variety

wink1970 · 24/07/2018 17:28

The idea that most women are capable of getting on with most other women. Clearly not true. Based on AIBU a vast majority spend their time resenting, despising, or downright hating at least 1 of their MILs/SILs/DD/DMs etc.

Oh sorry, lighthearted = CF, same as the poster above.

IrmaFayLear · 24/07/2018 17:32

It stopped me making a friend!

I was introduced to a really nice woman by someone I know a bit. I thought about following up to suggest we meet for a coffee, but then I suddenly was gripped by the fear that I was about to become a... Wendy ...

Ashhead24 · 24/07/2018 17:37

Love Actually. Used to love it now can't watch it without seeing how awful all the relationships are.

allthoseyears · 24/07/2018 17:40

The word “lighthearted”.

It doesn’t mean what you think it means, it means “I’m being defensive because the vultures will fly in and attack me for being goady or sullen or hard to live with or a joy sucker...”.

Ridingthegravytrain · 24/07/2018 17:43

Friends. The tv show, not just friends in general. Though actually come to think of it.....

VladmirsPoutine · 24/07/2018 17:43

Ever becoming a SAHM. But on a lighter note texting people at unsociable hours.

Daysofpearlyspencer · 24/07/2018 17:49

My favourite leopard print scarf, found out it is called the mumsnet scarf, never felt the same about it since

parklives · 24/07/2018 17:51

2nd rate relationships and abusive men, completely ruined for me now! Grin Hurray!

kernowsailor · 24/07/2018 17:53

Loo brushes! I was so blissfully unaware that my loo brush was so taboo. Now I just can't look at it in the same way! Not fecking getting rid of it though, screw you MN.

EthelMerman · 24/07/2018 17:56

@allthoseyears - I was hoping for a funny thread when I said lighthearted, I wasn't expecting to deflect joy-sucking vultures - I'm seeing them asa hybrid variety, cross bred with Dementors.

@Osiris - please go back to being content with not driving. It's no CF's business how you get around.

Staying at home alone while dp is working away. I can't stop myself reading the "woo" threads and scare myself shitless. I'm not really scared of anything in RL but this gets me everytime, I just can't seem to stop!

Timeisslippingaway · 24/07/2018 17:58

Also teachers as someone else said. I have never heard anyone else that works with children talk about them or their parents the way some teachers on here have, and I work with children.

MyRelationshipIsWeird · 24/07/2018 18:00

Grapes/raisins - “they’re basically just Haribo”

Bolognese because I see it on here spelled Bolognaise and it pisses me off.

Ditto “sandwhiches” - now can’t hear the word without pronouncing the non-existent ‘h’ in it.

Talc. No sooner had I found out it was great for removing sand at the beach I read that it can cause cancer so my new found hack was useless.

Chicken. Unless I can make it last for 5 meals I feel wasteful.

My flying squirrel suit. While many applaud my brave fashion choice, other posters have taken it upon themselves to mock those of us who embrace the flying squirrel suit and talk about how they’ve seen someone out at Tesco wearing one looking terrible - and I have to think could it be me?!

And yes, loo brushes, ham (must be naice), hummus - makes me feel like one of the virtue signalling lunchbox mums who feed their DCs strips of pepper and hummus with not a mini roll or a bag of Wotsits in sight.

MyRelationshipIsWeird · 24/07/2018 18:02

Also bob haircuts with a short back - apparently the most frumpy haircut known to womankind. Angry

And blue jeans with black boots - (jeans are probably the wrong shape and boots the wrong style too) Blush

GallicosCats · 24/07/2018 18:06

Well the weight threads have torpedoed any body confidence I ever threatened to develop as I need to lose at least 2 of my 10 and a half stone in order to have any pretensions to being in shape...

that'll happen the day Wine becomes calorie free

Elphame · 24/07/2018 18:17

The Laura Ingalls Wilder books.

beyondthesky · 24/07/2018 18:33

Criminal Minds. I used to quite enjoy it at face value until someone pointed out how misogynistic it was.
They were absolutely right and I've never watched it since!

I also look for shopping lists every time I go shopping lists.

kitkatsky · 24/07/2018 18:37

The word shag. Can't read it anymore without thinking baby dancing- the least sexy sex metaphor ever, even when TTC
