Having to wait a week to confirm if pregnant

Next appointment for blood test is in a week but I feel that is too long to keep someone waiting

How late are you?

confusedgirl123 · 21/07/2018 16:56

@SoyDora
I didn't think so either

Looks like your doctor is checking for menopause maybe as well as pregnancy. (Well to me anyway I'm not a doctor)

Dsc1907 · 21/07/2018 17:04

If those are your symptoms, why is it pregnancy you're thinking about? I don't understand why that's even part of the discussion tbh.

mn101 · 21/07/2018 17:06

@confusedgirl123 how old are you op?

confusedgirl123 · 21/07/2018 17:06

@Dsc1907
I stopped taking the pill and me and my partner haven't been using any protection so I guess it could be a possibility but I thought was out of the question with all the negative pregnancy tests I've had. Also as I've not really had a period I assumed I wouldn't be able to get pregnant as wouldn't have ovulated?

confusedgirl123 · 21/07/2018 17:07

@mn101
I'm now 27

I didn’t get any of those symptoms in pregnancy.

Tiredness, but that’s it.

I’d say true symptoms of pregnancy would be morning sickness, a bump, movement.

Gazelda · 21/07/2018 17:10

You're having unprotected sex. You've been on and off differ by types of contraception for the past few years. You've had irregular and unpredictable periods.
I'd say it's possible you're pregnant.
Or it's possible your body and hormone levels are simply adjusting themselves.
Do you want to be pregnant?

Queenofthestress · 21/07/2018 17:11

I'm sure that's the codes for a full blood count and a hormone test as well as a HCG test, probably checking for something else and just ruling out pregnancy

twoheaped · 21/07/2018 17:12

Could you be menopausal?

confusedgirl123 · 21/07/2018 17:14

@twoheaped
I hope not

confusedgirl123 · 21/07/2018 17:15

@Gazelda
Yes we would like to get pregnant

confusedgirl123 · 21/07/2018 17:19

I don't have full confidence in the doctor as she had to talk to a consultant and phone me back before she referred me for blood test and ultrasound

Badbadtromance · 21/07/2018 17:20

I had a negative test. DC almost 16.…..

ElsieMc · 21/07/2018 17:21

Echo other posters. Really doesn't sound like the symptoms of pregnancy which mine were sore breasts, metallic taste in mouth, going off certain foods and the main giveaway from about nine weeks, horrific nausea and certain smells triggering this. I think your GP is testing to rule it out should she need to treat another condition properly. Hope you are okay.

fatfatwaterrat · 21/07/2018 17:22

It's possible I was pregnant and then miscarried but I had zero bleeding. It was a very stressful time and I felt crazy because I can't explain it, I just knew I was pregnant. I did with my first too before symptoms. It was very odd but I just felt it.

We aren't sure how it happened. The doctor was all but adamant I was having some sort of breakdown from the news of early menopause as blood tests and internal scan all showed very very low hormone and no womb changes over 4 months.

I know my situation was incredibly unusual. But pregnancy tests aren't 100% accurate. I was just in the very small percentage.

But I've had false positives too fairly recently.

I agree that your non urgent blood test shouldn't be a priority and 1 week isn't too long to wait, but I also understand how hard it is when you think you're pregnant and you're waiting for that confirmation.

Really hope you get the answer you want!

CrackerCrisp · 21/07/2018 17:23

How long ago did you stop taking the pill? Your body can take a while to adjust.

BlueJava · 21/07/2018 17:36

It doesn't seem an unreasonable wait for an appointment. Sorry to be harsh but you seem to be more concerned you've paid for a night out with drinks - is that what you're really more worried about? If you're having strange symptoms avoid booze anyway.

NotAsGreenAsCabbageLooking · 21/07/2018 17:43

I lost out on a night out that I’d paid £40 odd for because I fell pregnant.

It really wasn’t a non drinking kind of night... so I took the loss and shelved it.

Little gutted about the night out, but I have my much wanted pregnancy instead.

ParisNext · 21/07/2018 17:49

Your Dr is rightly ruling out for certain that you are not pregnant; however you are wrong to think that she must think you are. Your tests are hormone tests and as you've had the implant since you were 15 for 10 years then the pill then an absence of regular cycles it's understandable to question your ovulation etc. Are you having a CA125 test and blood count too? Your symptoms do not flag pregnancy but it's possible you may have PCOS/other gynae issues or a number of other gastro/IBS problems. OP have you been using ovulation sticks? They can be very helpful to those who come off contraception and want the reassurance of knowing their body is established into an ovulation cycle. I think you should go and enjoy your party, just don't go mad.

confusedgirl123 · 21/07/2018 17:51

@NotAsGreenAsCabbageLooking
I think if I knew I was pregnant I'd not be bothered but as I only go out once a year roughly and it's not something I could rearrange I'm gutted I can't drink and properly enjoy myself
It's the not knowing which is making me anxious and slightly annoyed

OP posts:
confusedgirl123 · 21/07/2018 17:53

@ParisNext
No I don't think they are doing those tests

OP posts:
SoyDora · 21/07/2018 17:54

To be honest with those symptoms and negative pregnancy tests I’d probably assume I’m not pregnant.

Cantstopworryingaboutit · 21/07/2018 17:58

Just drink, it sounds highly unlikely that you are pregnant
