To complain about TA comment

dungandbother · 19/07/2018 13:42

Dd was told off by a (strict) TA to untuck her PE T-shirt because it didn't look right.

I am outraged that she would comment on the appearance of a child and how they choose to wear their PE kit.
Yr 6 if it matters.

DD always tucks her shirt in because she doesn't like the feel of the waistband on her skin - no matter which uniform she's wearing.

Should I write and complain ?

Oh for goodness sake.
I bet you're fuming as well.
I feel sorry for the teachers at your child's secondary school.

TeenTimesTwo · 19/07/2018 14:17

A) This is ~2 days before the end of term. Ignore.

B) Is there going to be a drip feed where this was for a photo and everyone else had shorts untucked so it looked strange to have just one person's tucked in?

butterflysugarbaby · 19/07/2018 14:19

It annoys me when people pile in and have a go at the OP on a thread, but REALLY OP? You do sound like a drama queen.

In the scheme of things, it's not a big deal, and I am sure that your daughter will survive this 'horrendous attack.' Confused

FatCow2018 · 19/07/2018 14:19

Good grief! What a ridiculous overreaction! 😂😂

User10661815 · 19/07/2018 14:19

TeenTimesTwo I wondered if it was option B too.

StarUtopia · 19/07/2018 14:21

I suggest you take yourself right back to the beginning of parenting and think about having respect for teachers. Oh and passing that on to your child. Instead of passing on attitude.

I do recall as a Manager asking a newly recruited 16yr old to tuck her shirt in - to which she retorted, 'What's it got to do with you?'

She didn't last long!

Amanduh · 19/07/2018 14:22

Hahahahaha. I’d like to be a member of staff when that letter arrives. We’d be crying wih laughter about it.
You are bu and ridiculous 😂

AveABanana · 19/07/2018 14:22

Sports day this year was awash with yr6 wearing shorts they'd grown out of at Christmas but not had replaced because there was no point just for a few months. Was that what the TA meant?

Leesa65 · 19/07/2018 14:25

Bloody Hell

Never have I ever seen, by some, so much babying

Get over yourself.

Tighnabruaich · 19/07/2018 14:26

Once in High School the PE teacher called my friend 'that sloppy-looking individual'. We've been using it as a term of endearment for about 50 years now.

sparepantsandtoothbrush · 19/07/2018 14:27

My y6 DD wouldn't even bother telling me shit like this as it's such a non event.

Seniorcitizen1 · 19/07/2018 14:28

Ffs another snowflake

SunShades · 19/07/2018 14:29

If her uniform was incorrect, the TA had every right to tell her off. If she didn't want to get in trouble, she should have made sure she was wearing her uniform correctly.

Gileswithachainsaw · 19/07/2018 14:30

Surely if her uniform was incorrect shed have been told 6 years ago?

Lovebeingmama · 19/07/2018 14:31

Personally I don't feel the TA was out of order and yes, I'd mention it to the TA and see what her response is.

starfishmummy · 19/07/2018 14:31

Think you should complain to the governors and local press or even the Daily Mail

Gileswithachainsaw · 19/07/2018 14:32

Loads of kids tuck the t shirts on pe kids on account if the fact the sizing is ridiculous and it helps make the t shirt less like a tent or it stops the shorts from slipping down

Lovebeingmama · 19/07/2018 14:32

Arggh! I DO feel the TA was out of order!

vandrew4 · 19/07/2018 14:34

Jesus Christ, you must be hard work.

crunchymint · 19/07/2018 14:35

Life can be really difficult at times. Sooner or later we all have real things to deal with. I think learning not to sweat the small stuff is a valuable lesson. And yes this is small stuff.
And I have encouraged kids to put behind them similar small stuff. I get that is upsetting for your DC, but it shouldn't be blown up by you as a big thing.

gunnyBear · 19/07/2018 14:36

Log it with OFSTED

@Gileswithachainsaw

Was that an attempt at avant garde poetry or are you drunk?

VickyEadie · 19/07/2018 14:36

Sometimes, the lesson we ought to help our kids learn from teeny tiny incidents like this is "It really doesn't matter enough to get upset over, does it?"

SugarIsAmazing · 19/07/2018 14:37

Bullying Hmm
Is this a joke post?

Gileswithachainsaw · 19/07/2018 14:40

Wish i was drunk

I'm.just saying that opinion really depends on the reason behind why it apparently didn't look right.

If she's yr 6 presumably she's been doing the same thing for years.

Pe kits are often poorly fitting for instance if they start at 4/5 And the kid still wears 3/4 it's gonna be too big.

How could a pe kit not look right when no ones said in 6 years there's a problem and eveeyone in yr 6 looks a state anyway cos it's not worth 're buying anything.

dungandbother · 19/07/2018 14:40

I'm so far from being a drama llama and my kids are absolutely not snowflakes. Grin

My DD is respectful and polite to her teachers and would never answer back.

Being told you don't look right when you are perfectly turned out ? Adhering to all uniform rules?

I do laugh about how many folks pile into AIBU and manage to fail to read what was said. Causing even more shouting.

I won't actually complain in writing. But I will comment on her un-professionalism to the class teacher.
