Tablespoon of Jordans bran sprinkled on your cereal each morning. You get a bag of it in health food shops for about £2. I feel your pain, I was constipated after my ds, when I finally went it was the size and shape of several snooker balls!!!!

10 mins on a treadmill usually does it, though to be fair it eventually got to the point that looking at the treadmill was enough to require an urgent detour.

failing that a soapy finger up the exit

This isn’t much help to you now but every time I phoned my sister, her son would do a poo in his nappy. Every single time!

We often joked that the Take A Break headlines would be ‘I was a HUMAN laxative’ or “Nephew SHIT HIMSELF every time I SPOKE’’

If you are really stuck, you can send me on your number and I will call you, i might still have the magic....

3luckystars · 19/07/2018 04:52

(Although I think it was because I distracted her that he had some peace to do it)

Mynameischocolate · 19/07/2018 06:27

You can get laxido from your gp, i got it when i was breastfeeding, its a stool softener rather than one that makes your bowels contract. So if i remember correctly it doesnt pass into your milk.

When I was constipated after a hernia op, I was advised to drink a smoothie- it worked within half- hour of taking it.

Some truly wonderous replies here! The fruit and coffee offered some relief yesterday you will all be pleased to know. Squatting didn't help. My baby is still sick, so looking like a hospital trip this morning but as soon as I can go to the shops I will be stocking up on a few of the ideas mentioned above!

aldaniti · 19/07/2018 08:31

This was me yesterday. A litre of freshly squeezed orange juice did the trick.

reup · 19/07/2018 08:32

Kefir - the yoghurt/milk stuff from Poland is great. You can get it from Sainsbury’s etc as well as polish shops.

TorchesTorches · 19/07/2018 08:34

For me its onions and red peppers. Cut them up, cover with oil and roast a load in the oven. Then either eat as a side dish, or blend up to make a soup. Have this a few times a week and no more constipation!

CanIhavedessertfirst · 19/07/2018 08:35

Green tea and a daily probiotic tablet

3luckystars · 19/07/2018 09:10

A hospital trip would definitely clear me out completely, so hopefully you and your son will get better together today.

Lostmyunicorn · 19/07/2018 11:47

Don’t know if anyone has already suggested this but syrup of figs really works. Available off the shelf in supermarkets or in the chemist without prescription. My grandmother swore by it and it works...

PerfectlySymmetricalButtocks · 19/07/2018 13:50

Have breakfast in the Sainsbury's café, then do your food shop. You'll want to go in the freezer aisle. Guaranteed.

WallisWindsor · 19/07/2018 13:51
