KFC. Lie 9n your back and cycle your legs. Grab your knees hug them to your tummy and roll side to side
Glycerin suppositories from boots.
Drink lots of water till your tummy feels like a water bomb.
Dates work quite quickly it don't over do them cos they can be a bit unpredictable.
Do let us know how u go.
All the very best

Gummy bears.

I'll say nothing more.

I agree that there is a difference between food to keep you regular and emergencies.

Spinach, celeriac and raw cabbage are my favourites for regular maintenance, then a good strong coffee and a regular slot with peace and quite for a visit (looks meaningfully at now grown-up DC). An extra helping hand from prunes, dark chocolate and always, lots and lots of water..

For emergencies, for example on holiday, a couple of senna pods in a mug, pour over boiling water. If necessary a packet of those low sugar sweets and do not move too far from the lavatory...

Or go to your nearest TK Maxx, they could put the laxative effects of the place in the marketing (or a warning)

lola212121 · 18/07/2018 17:39

Lots of oranges works for me

MindBodyChocolate · 18/07/2018 18:06

I think the consultant gut surgeon is probably the one you should listen to ;)

NapQueen · 18/07/2018 18:08

A stroll round B&M always gets my bowels moving. No idea why it first started but think its conditioned into me now.

Lots warm water first thing in the morning on an empty stomach. Don't eat anything for about 30mins. Then make sure your consuming at least two litres of water a day.

Sorry about caps lock BlushBlushBlush

mayhew · 18/07/2018 18:12

Midwife here. Lactulose and movicol from the top end. Glycerin suppositories from below. Prunes also helpful.

Allthewaves · 18/07/2018 18:14

Def porridge for breakfast

comedycentral · 18/07/2018 18:15

I always need to go after a long phone call! No idea why.

Allergictoironing · 18/07/2018 18:18

Would piles suppositories like Germoloids be OK if BF? I say that, because I think they have a local anesthetic in them which IMO is a must if it's been a few days and more comfortable than plain glycerine suppositories.

BlackForestCake · 18/07/2018 18:18

Sauerkraut, brussels sprouts, cabbage.
A very hot curry with chickpeas.
Four pints of real ale or farmhouse cider.
Black tea.
Fresh pressed apple juice.

TorviBrightspear · 18/07/2018 18:20

I was told many sugar free sweets contain Sorbitol, which is what supposedly helps.

I second using a low stool to lift your knees, and for amusement just search YouTube for the squatty potty ads.......

wineandcatsandlego · 18/07/2018 18:31

If you have any in the house, peppermint tea always does the trick for me Smile good luck!

cameltoeflappyflapflap · 18/07/2018 18:33

Prune juice

FlourishandBlotts · 18/07/2018 18:37

Movicol (breastfeeding friendly) lots of water and a big long walk!

Roachella · 18/07/2018 19:50

A tablespoon of linseeds soaked overnight. They'll be gloopy and you just glug it down.
Your poos will slip out like a yard of satin and you will erect a shrine to me.
I wish everyone knew this.

McDonalds burger. Works every time.

champagnesupernouveaux · 18/07/2018 19:57

A whole bottle of red wine.

May not be breastfeeding friendly, but might help somebody else who stumbles across this.
