AIBU - wasteful husband in holiday

We are in holiday, only DH has got drinks. At breakfast everything is a buffet, other than hot drinks, which they take an order for at the table. He always just asks for coffee. They bring a flask of coffee and a jug of milk. He only ever has black coffee. The milk goes to waste. He gets annoyed if I asked him to only ask for black coffee so that they don’t waste the jug of milk.

Am I being unreasonable, after 9 days to be able to expect him to do this, rather than me having to intervene and ask for black coffee only? He only has to say ‘black coffee please’ rather than ‘coffee please’ - it’s not onerous!

Please get some perspective. My lovely friend is recently widowed and I know she would sell her soul to be in the OPs position.

Ffs bettyboohoo, OP may be U but MN is full of first-world problems!

No worries. You’re on holiday, tell your husband not to worry about the calfs being dragged away from their mothers so that they could make milk.

I agree with you OP. If we all wasted less then everyone would be in a better position.

We tell kids not to waste when it suits us but it’s ok because “it’s a holiday”.

Anyway, it’s a hotel not a charity. They put the same milk out again as long as it’s ok.

Enjoy your holiday. Who cares about the milk, drink it if it bothers you that much.

Tbh, I wouldn't get my knickers in a twist over this, but I suspect it is the tip of the iceberg.
Fwiw, I am a black coffee drinker and hate waste too. I always say "no milk please." I nearly always get a jug of milk.

Definitely same here too! And shocking how much we're willing to spend on something when we're away, you forget to compare it to how much you'd spend on it and just kind of make a face and say after, that was a ridiculous price, whereas at home you'd go to a different shop/not buy
