What MNisms irrationally annoy you?

I know IABU to complain about something so petty but I don't care. Come and share your trivial mumsnet annoyances! What phrases / abbreviations / MN colloquialisms drive you crazy? I'll start:

  1. Any time anyone uses the phrases 'boobing', 'boobed' etc when referring breastfeeding. Not only does this give me a mental image of a clown squirting milk from a comedy flower in their lapel, it also has a kind of juvenile, jolly-hockeysticks false cheer that makes me want to die.
  1. Pg as an abbreviation of pregnant. No idea why I hate this. Maybe because it doesn't really resemble the full word? Irrationally despise it.
  1. 'Little one' instead of baby or child. Too twee to be allowed. V similar to the phrase 'our little family', usually used when someone has a new baby and wants the equivalent of a papal enclave to keep friends and family at arms length. Absolutely loathesome because I am a grumpy and unreasonable cow

Any others that really wind you up?

The word "crass". Has anyone else noticed how often it's used on MN?

KittyHawke80 · 29/07/2018 20:28

The word ‘odd’ used all the bloody time.

‘Snooping’. I’ve discovered I hate that word. Sounds so virtuous on the part of the accuser: “You’re a snoop, OP.”

People who expect to be able to behave as they like because ‘anxiety’. Oh, ok.

PaulRuddislush · 29/07/2018 20:53

The total opposite of how people respond IRL gets me on here:

OP says "lifelong best friend hasn't invited me to her wedding , she was my chief bridesmaid 2 years ago and said she'd return the honour. She's having a huge wedding with 12 attendants but I've been told there's no place for me AIBU to be upset?"

Irl "yes of course"
On MN "YABU she can invite who she likes, you didn't make the cut"

Total fecking nonsense.

Unihorn · 29/07/2018 22:26

PaulRuddislush
Completely agree. The inappropriate wedding dress thread currently running is a perfect example.

"Is it inappropriate to have your nipples out in your wedding dress at your church wedding?"
The world: yes of course
MN: no absolutely not, why are you shaming her?

StripySocksAndDocs · 30/07/2018 00:39

I hadn't wanderings, though I had notice 'vile' does seem to have higher usage on MN than in my world.

What's the chances I'll now spot 'crass' everywhere!

Effendi · 04/08/2018 16:24

Floods of tears over somethings ridiculous. I click off a thread immediately if I see this.

Ihopeyourcakeisshit · 04/08/2018 16:33

No is a complete sentence Hmm

Ihopeyourcakeisshit · 04/08/2018 16:35

Oh and 'unhinged 'being thrown around at every opportunity.

cricketmum84 · 04/08/2018 16:50

Stealth boasts! Actual stealth boasts are pretty annoying but I hate it when someone gets accused of a stealth boast when basically they just have all their shit together. Also I've said stealth boast so many times in this post that it's lost all meaning Grin

BlancheM · 04/08/2018 23:04

It's really annoying when the first few posters on a thread passive aggressively pretend they don't know what OP is very clearly on about, then the others follow suit and it's all 'how strange, never heard of that one, link? Where did you hear that?'

flugelhorn81 · 10/08/2018 17:20

Not sure if I've already said this on here but just saw it on another thread and it reminded me: "spendy". FFS. Grin

Shampooeeee · 10/08/2018 17:25

Rtft annoys me ever since I realised that it’s full thread and not fucking thread

Advice given for all relationship problems...LTB

I have been happily married to a good man (who is not perfect) for 18 years....It takes work and compromise. The solution to all problems is simply not to just walk out.

Chestnut23 · 13/08/2018 19:40

"NC as this is outing." Hmm
