Mums who squirt pouches into baby’s mouth

I find this so lazy and gross while out and about, seems to be increasing. Even worse when Mum is gazing into iPhone and not even looking what she’s doing !

The Ella's kitchen peach one isn't bad added to procescco

Pinkgeorge · 16/07/2018 19:53

I’m a bad mother then. My twins loved the pouches and spat my food out.

Littlemissdaredevil · 16/07/2018 19:54

I must be super lazy. When I first tried food with my DD she grabbed the spoon out my hand and shoved the spoon in her mouth. I’m now BLW

Funnyface1 · 16/07/2018 19:54

Oh god, dd is 22 months. I must have spent countless hours squeezing pouches onto spoons and then WASHING said spoons! What kind of fool am I?!

(Bitter, angry cry)

bostonkremekrazy · 16/07/2018 19:58

For babies who have a swallow problem they are advised by speech and language therapists above trying to spoon feed them - it is safer for baby to control the speed and flow themselves rather than a parent spooning in.
so if you've seen my baby with a NG tube sticking out of their nose - you will probably see me behind jumping with delight that they are managing to eat anything...
I do use my own pouches though....spending time cooking, blending, cooling and transferring to a pouch ready for the day baby will eat something, anything!!! does that make me a better parent somehow than those who use Ellas stuff?

DNAwrangler · 16/07/2018 19:58

Eh?! My baby hates pouches. Would bloody love to use them though.

Is it also lazy to use a dishwasher?

NerrSnerr · 16/07/2018 19:58

@Xenia was that comment to me about me giving my one year old pouches? He is actually still breastfed- he has many feeds a day. Is this now acceptable or should I be chewing up food and spitting it out for him as well?

Livinglavidal0ca · 16/07/2018 19:59

Maybe I’m slightly better because I have one of these bad boys!Grin I always cook my own food for my son, but chuck pouches in my changing bag in case I’m out longer than planned. And tbh I mostly bypass the spoon and just squeeze it in my sons mouth, bad mother that I am.

I thought that was the point of pouches? Saves you carrying cutlery.

haribosmarties · 16/07/2018 20:20

YABU and incredibly judgemental. Good for you and your perfect parenting.

Strawbroke · 16/07/2018 20:21

Ah Xenia it has been a while since I saw your lentil weaving posts. You are taking me right back to 2007 Grin iCod will be back next.

hairypaws · 16/07/2018 20:21

I wish they had them when mine were babies. Would have saved me so much washing up.

BatShitBuns · 16/07/2018 20:21

Good for you OP, you got two judgy things in one post: lazy awful mums feeding their children pouch food and lazy awful mums daring to look at a phone while in the presence of their offspring.

TheLionRoars1110 · 16/07/2018 20:22

Hahahaha!!! Feral!!!! 10/10
GrinGrinGrinGrin

Touchmybum · 16/07/2018 20:25

Sod off and mind your own bloody business!

I also wish there had been pouches when mine were small. They sound like the dog's bollocks!

Blaablaablaa · 16/07/2018 20:25

@okaassan I don't think you know the meaning of the word feral 🙄

throwcushions · 16/07/2018 20:26

Mine won't eat pouches despite trying. On fruit though, mine will just eat a piece of fruit straight (like a banana or a peach). Is this unusual or dangerous (baby is 10 months) because it seems easier than a pouch to me, but I never see anyone else doing it?

bluemascara · 16/07/2018 20:27

Off you fuck OP.
I'm too busy on my iPhone reading mumsnet whilst my kids feed themselves Ella's kitchen pouches unaided.
I'm always ignoring them. I don't think I've ever spoken to my youngest.
Kids should be kids and raise themselves... no need to bother us about it.

Rainatnight · 16/07/2018 20:29

So it's ok if Dads do it?

SoyDora · 16/07/2018 20:29

throwcushions mine never had any purées so ate soft whole fruits from 6 months. It’s fine!

Notmorewashing · 16/07/2018 20:34

Can you not just mash up a bit of fruit & veg yourself ?!?! They need proper food ! It’s also bad for the environment all those pouches and jars.

I agree with chewing up food for them it’s more preferable.

OP posts:
reeldoop · 16/07/2018 20:36

Mine would happily have an Ellas Kitchen and/or a banana at that age, or any soft fruit. Sounds fine for 10m to me.

DistanceCall · 16/07/2018 20:36

There is a scene in an AS Byatt book - I think it's Babel Tower - in which the main character is trying to get custody of her son after a divorce from her richer posh husband.

Someone accuses her of being a bad mother because she would read books while breastfeeding rather than focusing all her attention on the baby as any proper mother would.

This was set in the 1960s, though. Looks like some things never change for some people.

Honflyr · 16/07/2018 20:37

i agree with chewing up food for them it’s more preferable.

Would you want to eat food spit out of someone else's mouth? That's disgusting Hmm

MotherofPearl · 16/07/2018 20:37

I agree with correct grammar. That is why I would not say 'more preferable'.

Just saying.
