Mums who squirt pouches into baby’s mouth

I find this so lazy and gross while out and about, seems to be increasing. Even worse when Mum is gazing into iPhone and not even looking what she’s doing !

There are no additives, sugar, salt or any ‘crap’ at all in the pouches I give. ‘For Aishia’ ones are great and especially tasty.

Even from the spout Grin

Cagliostro · 16/07/2018 21:11

Feral 😂 tbh I think my baby's most feral moment was when she was chewing on a rib 😳 one of my favourite photos of her. I don't bother with cutlery either, I just chuck some food on her tray. Like she's a puppy or something. Now that's lazy!

Don't judge people for getting through the day. There are plenty worse things for them to be eating.

As for chewing food for them. That is not 'teaching them to eat'. It is far safer for them to learn themselves. Babies without teeth can chew and eat safely, there is no need to do it for them. Plus it's a bit manky (and I'm pretty slatternly)

LaurieMarlow · 16/07/2018 21:12

Of all the things in life to get worked up about, this has to be one of the dumbest. Hmm

Seafoodeatit · 16/07/2018 21:14

Thesearepearls - bananas are full of sugar too..

BasicSAHM · 16/07/2018 21:17

Do you have kids??? It's food. They are nourishing their child. Do you consider smoothie drinkers lazy too?

sillyoldowl · 16/07/2018 21:18

This is so funny
Think that's gross... have you ever tried to give your weaning baby spaghetti and let them finger feed themselves. Grotty.
But your right I shall now chew up food and gob it in to my babies mouths... totally less disgusting whilst out.Hmm

Namechangemum100 · 16/07/2018 21:27

manufactured crap

Would love to see inside your pure and organic cupboards op, I'm sure us pouch feeding scum could only dream of being a perfect mum like you.

Fluffyrainbows · 16/07/2018 21:28

🤣 joke right?

bobstersmum · 16/07/2018 21:28

Wow, mum's that feed their kids, yeah op, that's terrible...

MyBreadIsEggy · 16/07/2018 21:29

We used smoothie pouches out and about for both of my DCs.....
Until the little one got a bit overzealous on the squeezing and squeezed the entire contents of a pouch into his face Grin Then proceeded to smear said smoothie wih the palm of his hand, into his mouth Grin
Feral? Yes.
Hilarious? Also yes.

bobstersmum · 16/07/2018 21:32

I'm only just reading the thread, can't stop laughing at the comment about chewing up the food for the baby first.. just what planet are some people on.. Oh my days.

RebelRogue · 16/07/2018 21:40

Ohhhh natural ... how could I have missed that ? Damn it..I guess i have to give this child away and start all over again.

mathanxiety · 16/07/2018 21:42

Are you suggesting that there is another way to feed a pouch's contents other than sucking them?

Lilimoon · 16/07/2018 21:44

Goodo. OP is critical of other women. Well done. Honestly, bravo OP. Assuming men aren't subject to your critical gaze?

eggandspoonrace · 16/07/2018 21:46

I agree OP and yes to the poster who said about yoghurt in some kind of tube pouch.

FASH84 · 16/07/2018 21:50

You can get little screw on spoon attachments for pouches, would that make you feel better? I was under the impression that the better ones have no additives etc and are designed for on the go. What's wrong with that?

Pooshy · 16/07/2018 21:51

This is the funniest thread, well done OP. Has made me chuckle

toomuchtooold · 16/07/2018 22:04

Xenia's back! Wait, I'll get my popcorn.

Not arsed about the pouch thing though. It's hardly as though a 1 year old is going to have to know what knife to de-bone his fish course with Confused Isn't it anyway more hygienic to squirt straight out of the previously sealed pouch than use a spoon that's been sat at the bottom of the changing bag all morning?

Svanhildur · 16/07/2018 22:08

Is this unusual or dangerous (baby is 10 months) because it seems easier than a pouch to me, but I never see anyone else doing it?

Obviously this is neither unusual nor dangerous. I think you know that really, don't you? The reason I don't usually just hand my baby a piece of fruit whilst out and about is that he will squish it and squeeze it and end up soaking in juice or with it all mashed into his hair/clothes. Fair play he is quite a feral baby. He is allowed to do this at home where it is easy to deal with. But I can't be arsed with it on an aeroplane or at the park.

The glory of pouches is that you can give the baby a quick snack when you're out without any mess. I'd bet good money that pouches are overwhelmingly used outside the home and all those poor babies are happily throwing spaghetti Bolognese around and massaging banana into their hair when in the comfort of their own home.

bostonkremekrazy · 16/07/2018 22:09

@Notmorewashing @Thesearepearls

Some of our babies don't get normal experiences of eating and traditional meals, some of our babies cannot eat a banana or piece of fruit you deem acceptable,
some of us are just trying to get through the day - for whatever reason our day could be crap and everyone's day looks different - what we don't need is people like you judging us for using a sodding pouch to feed our little one.....

londonrach · 16/07/2018 22:11

I never used to but dd now wants to feed herself. Its alot easier and cleaner than bowls, spoons and bibs. In rl all mums are doing this now. Yabvvvu and very judgy. Take it your not a parent.

runsmidgeOMG · 16/07/2018 22:38

We swore by these pouches when DD was weaning.

I'm not gonna lie I'm relatively lazy, I assumed that they're essentially mushed up fruit that I would only have to make myself anyway. Probably not too time consuming but I saw these as the easy option. I still cooked her meals but for a snack and out and about I don't see the problem.

Oh and we were also partial to the odd Ella's kitchen pouch meal warmed up, meh ! Life's too short.

I know there are parents that are able to work, cook good meals, arrange play dates and keep a tidy house and I wish I was one- but she was fed, a good weight and had plenty of social interaction (the time I'd saved mushing was all spent on activities and meeting friends to play with)
I'd like to think I wouldn't judge other parents for their decisions.

DeadGood · 16/07/2018 22:44

“Why not just give an apple a whizz in a blender?”

Fresh apple:
Buy apple
Peel apple
Drag blender out of cupboard
Purée apple
Realise apple doesn’t purée unless stewed first
Stew apple
Purée apple
Decant purée into container
Disassemble blender
Clean and dry blender
Reassemble blender

Pouch:
Buy pouch

Any clearer now?

blinkineckmum · 16/07/2018 22:44

I've never liked the pouches either OP. But I wouldn't have started a thread on it.

throwcushions · 16/07/2018 22:45

"Obviously this is neither unusual nor dangerous. I think you know that really, don't you?"

No, otherwise I wouldn't have asked. I wasn't sure why other people find pouches easier than whole fruit hence I asked (I have done other things that people have said were dangerous but I thought nothing of, so wondered if there was a choking or other hazard I had not appreciated). I hadn't realised the pouches were so much less messy but that makes sense. Like I said we tried them but baby refused (which was then very messy indeed).
