Mums who squirt pouches into baby’s mouth

I find this so lazy and gross while out and about, seems to be increasing. Even worse when Mum is gazing into iPhone and not even looking what she’s doing !

Sorry OP, but you sound like a right judgey twat.

winniestone37 · 17/07/2018 18:58

Give yourself a break and just stop judging perhaps? I know it's exhausting being better than everyone else especially when you're very good at it.

Emma765 · 17/07/2018 19:03

My baby hasn't been born yet so no direct experience but I can't see why squirting direct in to mouth isn't the exact reason why pouches exist? If you're going to bother fannying about squirting on to a spoon surely a jar would be easier?

Strongmummy · 17/07/2018 19:07

That’s what the pouches are there for isn’t it?!??

Abbifa · 17/07/2018 19:14

Guilty as charged! When I’m out and about it’s far easier and less messy to do this then to walk around with dirty sticky spoons when he’s finished, and my son finds it fun which means he eats more of it! I think as parents we are already feeling the pressure to be perfect, without these sorts of comments and opinions on the etiquette of child feeding whilst in public. My son has home cooked meals at home and sometimes pouches when we are out for convenience, because spending a day out with a 1year old can be stressful enough. so now I have to worry about being judged for the tools I use whilst feeding him too, sorry but no. If you find it disgusting then don’t do it with your own child, but leave those of us who do alone to parent how we see fit

Leobynature · 17/07/2018 20:01

What I found gross is women beating down other woman 🙄

Littlelove00 · 17/07/2018 20:21

OP you sick, twisted soul you!

Scotland32 · 17/07/2018 20:36

To complete your sentence:
..........are really none of your business!
Fair enough if you were complaining about something that was a welfare issue but really???

Leontine · 17/07/2018 20:45

Isn’t that what pouches are for? 😳

purplebunny2012 · 17/07/2018 20:51

YABVU. And you are weird

LilQueenie · 17/07/2018 20:59

You realise the pouches were made this way to do exactly that right?

pitterpatterrain · 17/07/2018 21:03

Hah. You get the golden star. Star

Looks wistfully at DD2 who at that age thought spoons were from the devil and all food should be from her hand only -> which did include sucking the pouch things

twattymctwatterson · 17/07/2018 21:07

You are right op. You are so much better than other people

TT10677 · 17/07/2018 21:07

Bigger things to worry about?? Less mess and my kids very early on wanted to do it themselves so as much as I tried to squeeze it onto a spoon they’d take it off me and do it themselves. Comes under the category of who cares, if they are ok. Busy mums need all the help they can get. We are so critical of each other. Breathe and relax everyone, think happy thoughts.....

badgeronabicycle · 17/07/2018 21:10

My 15 month old still loves the odd fruit pouch but absolutely will not take anything from a spoon. He expects to feed himself and swipes the pouch out of my hand as soon as it's opened. I don't see the problem.

IfYouDontImagineNothingHappens · 17/07/2018 21:24

Next they'll be eating bananas right out the skins without cutlery. Disgusting.

blueluce85 · 17/07/2018 21:52

Bore off...

CheshireChat · 17/07/2018 21:54

I thought current advice was to do baby led weaning so no pureeing so even easier actually Wink, chuck some food at them and job's a good one.

DS was a poster child for baby led weaning so we mostly grabbed a banana or those pre cut fruit but I distinctly remember the mess from the pouch we once gave him. Doubt I ever bought another one, now that's lazy!

Obviously some babies need puréed foods for medical reasons and some just don't fancy chewing so you parent the child you have and count your blessings.

PamsterWheel · 17/07/2018 21:59

THE mum

MrsJayy · 17/07/2018 22:02

Blw is just another form of weaning I don't think it is advised many parents still do purees and spoons or pouches Grin

flowergrrl77 · 17/07/2018 22:11

I’m with @Llanali

Not my circus, not my monkeys.

;)

LittleRen · 17/07/2018 22:21

I do this when I am out and about. Have you ever tried spoon feeding a baby who waves his head and arms around out in public?! They generally end up with more on their body than in their mouth.

This is my third child and the other two eventually started holding the pouches themselves.

CheshireChat · 17/07/2018 22:38

MrsJayy It was definitely the recommended method about 3yrs ago, but either way kids aren't going to be using pouches when they're 18 so I doubt it makes a massive difference.

Not sure what you're supposed to do if you're kid doesn't like it at that age, 'if you don't eat your carrot sticks then I'll take your rattle away'?!

Faith7777 · 17/07/2018 22:48

“Stay on your own lane” as my late Nan would say. If you still don’t get it - mind your own business.

Clarabell100 · 17/07/2018 22:50

Seriously?? The yogurt pouches are great for a snack when out and about!
