Parking situation on my new road.

I have just completed on a new house. When I viewed it I spent time on different days popping by the road at different times of day to checkout the parking situation and all was fine. My house and the one opposite have a drive for 1 car odd road and the others have space for 2. I only have one car.

The house opposite was for sale at the same time and the new occupants have just moved in a couple of weeks after me.
They have 6 cars!!!! (Green)

I have tried my best on the diagram to illustrate where everyone tends to park - each house has a coloured for above and then their cars are the same colour lines.
I only have one car so my driveway is ample however with green house wankers parking their cars all over the place - mainly at the end of the cul de sac - it's really hard to get out of my drive with cars also parked on the road in between my house (red) and my nice NDN (blue)

I've popped round and introduced myself and explained asking them politely not to park the three cars at the the end of the cul de sac (which is a dropped kerb. But they closed the door in my face and I haven't seen them since. Tonight they've got all of their cars all over the road as per the diagram.

What's my best course of action here?

Nothing to add, but these are very pretty diagrams.

I love this thread!

kateryan · 16/07/2018 17:31

Love your diagrams. Well if I were in your shoes I would park my car in one of the spaces they are using. Then I would before they all get home and fill in the rest ask family, friends, neighbours to come and park in the other gaps. That only leaves them their driveway. A couple of days and nights like that will soon have them finding alternative places to park. Other than that I would contact the LA who would have insisted on certain criteria with the bulders before allowing the properties to be built. Wish you luck hun.

I think they’re just annoyed you moved into an empty house and they can’t get away with parking on your drive anymore.

The area that you describe as their new parking is actually commune and doesn't belong to any one you or them but public. Therefore anyone can park there and there is nothing you can do. Even if they rudely parked at your own drive way also by law you can grind your teeth as nobody can help you, no Police no law enforcement no Council..I have gone through years of arguing with neighbour over parking spot.He used to bring me Google maps screens and act like it's land registry..he rang Police on me but not to say I park wrong but that I behave wrong while I park (abuse him) which I didn't but was told off by some bored Police man..maybe that's the method you should use..the problem is you will be hated and people may revenge. There is no easy way out for you but to move out or accept it..

limecordial · 16/07/2018 17:41

The council are the solution. Where we live if you park any part of your car over a dropped kerb it is a ticketable offence. Most councils also have a number you can call about parking and they send someone out to enforce (we once had someone park over our drive and vanish). So if they send wardens round the council get revenue and the neighbours learn the hard way - win win. Otherwise speak to local councillor and petition for double yellows.

TheMonkeyMummy · 16/07/2018 17:48

@kamilahbobo can I ask, what were you doing that was so outrageous?

GabriellaMontez · 16/07/2018 17:50

I think it's unlikely the estate agent told them that. Just part of being a cf.

BreakfastAtSquiffanys · 16/07/2018 17:50

I think the OP said that it's not a new build development

MoonsAndJunes · 16/07/2018 17:55

Dear CFN,
Thanks for your note, I knocked on your door but you didn't answer.
I tried to speak to you a while re. the difficult parking situation on the close. Regretfully, neither your husband or yourself would discuss the matter with me in a civil manner.
I agree that parking is not easy on our road. It is very difficult to leave my own drive when there are 3 cars parked at the bottom of the close.
Unfortunately, because of this, I have been forced to change where I park my car.

Cheeky wankers!

Can you get the council to paint yellow lines over the end so they are unable to park there?

They are so rude!

AWomanIsAnAdultHumanFemale · 16/07/2018 17:56

Wow! What an entitled bastard! You have as much right to have six cars as She has and park them exactly where she has parked. She doesn’t own those spaces just because she hasn’t more cars! She didn’t buy that space. Stand your ground on this Op. what a nasty git she is.

BlueBug45 · 16/07/2018 18:00

@Kamilahbobo there is a dropped curve for disabled access.

The OP can point out this to the council that cars parked in the turning circle block those in wheelchairs/disability scooters from using the path behind it, and that she sees someone regularly having difficulty.

They then may come and paint some "nice" double yellow lines along it and randomly e.g. when fucked off resident emails them, come to enforce them.

A council painted double yellows on a bend road I use to live on as bin lorries and the emergency services couldn't get through. On one occasion a bin lorry threatened to ram a woman's car as she parked after they came and they couldn't get out.

JustCallMeTheOven · 16/07/2018 18:00

This totally is a shameless placemark but I need to know what happens next 🙈

YarnObsessor · 16/07/2018 18:02

Cheeky fuckers! I can sympathise though I live on a busy main road with no drives, double yellows on one side and a car showroom across the road who parks his extra cars outside our houses when his forecourt is full. Fucking irritating there’s barely enough space done r the people who live here not even counting the people who park to go to the garage! I regularly have to park round the corner and struggle with shopping and ds who has sn.

AWomanIsAnAdultHumanFemale · 16/07/2018 18:05

OP take photos of their cars parked there. Tbh I wouldn’t put it past them to deliberately block your drive now so have your phone ready to snap snap snap. Loads of photos. Include their number plates.

Rtruth · 16/07/2018 18:06

Use the dvla website to check they are taxed and mot. If not report them.

MissyMoooo · 16/07/2018 18:06

Outstanding cheeky fuckery from her!! This might be one of the best parking threads I've read!! Good on you OP for parking over your drive Smile

Marmablade · 16/07/2018 18:08

CF AND no manners

Parking situation on my new road.
Cagliostro · 16/07/2018 18:08

Offer her some Pom bears. Then you’ll know.

That diagram is an image of wonder, I almost screamed at the beauty of it (Sistene Chapel style). genuinely snorted at this

TaliZorahVasNormandy · 16/07/2018 18:14

Dear cheeky fucker,

Since you having enough money to have SIX cars, I assume you have the money to buy a house with a big enough drive way to park the bastard things on.

Yours truly

Pissed off neighbour.

BreakfastAtSquiffanys · 16/07/2018 18:16

My Mrs Batshit of the WeHaveSixCarsBatshits used to leave equally rude notes on the car of anyone who parked in what she considered "her" space. The parking was non allocated but plentiful, but she insisted the "nicest /closest" spaces belonged to the Batshits.
I wonder how the hell they coped when they moved from outer suburban London to congested Fulham!

babyno5 · 16/07/2018 18:17

Awesome diagram OP!
CF neighbours should all me made to go live together and make the world a better place xx
