Parking situation on my new road.

JennaTools · 14/07/2018 22:43

I have just completed on a new house. When I viewed it I spent time on different days popping by the road at different times of day to checkout the parking situation and all was fine. My house and the one opposite have a drive for 1 car odd road and the others have space for 2. I only have one car.

The house opposite was for sale at the same time and the new occupants have just moved in a couple of weeks after me.
They have 6 cars!!!! (Green)

I have tried my best on the diagram to illustrate where everyone tends to park - each house has a coloured for above and then their cars are the same colour lines.
I only have one car so my driveway is ample however with green house wankers parking their cars all over the place - mainly at the end of the cul de sac - it's really hard to get out of my drive with cars also parked on the road in between my house (red) and my nice NDN (blue)

I've popped round and introduced myself and explained asking them politely not to park the three cars at the the end of the cul de sac (which is a dropped kerb. But they closed the door in my face and I haven't seen them since. Tonight they've got all of their cars all over the road as per the diagram.

What's my best course of action here?

holy cow what a CF

But @Jenna just so you know (because I also have a drive and a dropped kerb), if you park on the road YOU can get a ticket - I got a bloody warning for doing it because were having issues ages ago & the knobs can block you empty driveway - its just not fair. So just be careful.

But don't back down & keep us updated please!

CHEEKY BASTARD FUCKERS!

Ask the council if they can double yellow line it Wink

Here's a Gin good work, you deserve it! HaloGlitterball

Littleredboat · 16/07/2018 16:47

Wow, her entitlement knows no bounds...

GruffaIo · 16/07/2018 16:47

@alwaysthepessimist: What were you told you could get a ticket for if you're blocking the dropped kerb for your own driveway? Asking especially because the driveway would be empty, which is just the situation in which the CFNs could block the dropped kerb driveway.

CrazyDaisy2018 · 16/07/2018 16:48

Oh yes. You absolutely must have a drink, so you couldn't possibly move it when her arsey DH knocks on the door later...

ilovepaperchase · 16/07/2018 16:52

Well done OP!

flumpybear · 16/07/2018 16:53

I like it @CrazyDaisy2018 - lateral thinking you genius!

The thread that just keeps giving! 😢🍾🍾

We had muppets at my old flat (which had an underground car park entrance) who constantly parked right up to the entrance as close as possible on either side - meant 20 cars were trapped as although we could get car nose onto the road we couldn’t turn even slightly to get in or out! The council agreed to put down double yellows to prevent the turning circle being compromised. Council also said its illegal to park or overhang onto dipped kerbs too so we’re happy to help. Hope your council is as helpful - they often arent!

We now have NDNs too who have extended into garage, meaning they have a tiny drive they can’t fit any of their cars into. They then park outside their house, our house and in 2 of the overflow spaces directly across road (those 2 cars have burst tyres and never move!) and also have a million visitors too who think nothing of parking up for a long chat fully across our dipped kerb driveway because don’t you know it’s a pick up / drop off /casual chat zone at all hours of the day/night. There are lots of overflow spaces too - they’re just too sodding lazy to walk the 10/20 feet!

OhLookHeKickedTheBall · 16/07/2018 16:57

Every now and again our council send one of those cars out then fine people parked over drop kerbs. They wave them for owners or family of owners but not friends or customers of the local house run businesses.

It's something in general we appreciate though as parking is hard on our road, mainly due to the person who runs an unregistered mechanics and uses most of the available spaces up Grin

JennaTools · 16/07/2018 16:59

NNDN has just got home so I'll give them 5 mins to get in the door and go round.
If someone wants to start taking bets on whether she is a mumsnetter or not.. I'll definitely ask. Wine I've got to pop out at 6 but will be getting a taxi.

I LOVE this thread. And she is such a coward leaving notes but not answering the door

OhLookHeKickedTheBall · 16/07/2018 17:01

I should have been more clear - they wave them if you are parked over the drive of a property and are the owners or family of the owners. Park over any of the drop kerbs not directly outside a property and the fine stands.

flapjackfairy · 16/07/2018 17:01

I would buy 2 old bangers and tax them. Stick them on the road where they park and leave to rust. It would be worth every penny !

Jaxhog · 16/07/2018 17:01

No, write on the back of the note.

I park here where I choose to.
Like you do.

alwaysthepessimist · 16/07/2018 17:01

@Gruffalo yes my local PCSO told me this, if I have a drive and I then park on the road and am deemed to be causing an obstruction I can be ticketed....I was baffled....

ShinyPinkLipgloss · 16/07/2018 17:02

Dear CF Neighbour,

Following the note you left on my windscreen I knocked on your door to have a chat however you failed to answer. Perhaps you were too busy dealing with the excessive paperwork that managing SIX cars must bring?

I'd be more than happy to park on my own driveway which, as you have correctly noted, is indeed empty. Given that there are clearly no issues with your eyesight perhaps you could observe the issues I endure when one of your numerous cars obstructs my exiting of said empty driveway?

If you continue to impede my access to/from my driveway then you'll find this issue will continue. This will lead me to getting in touch with the relevant authorities which I think you'll find will take a dim view on you blocking access for my ONE car to park on my private driveway with one or more of your SIX cars.

Regards,

Not to be messed with neighbour

JennaTools · 16/07/2018 17:04

I love that @ShinyPinkLipgloss Star I'll show NNDN although I'm sure she's already seen this

Jaxhog · 16/07/2018 17:05

@lynzpynz - if the cars have burst tyres, then they are technically 'abandoned' and the police should be prepared to tow them away.

BewareOfDragons · 16/07/2018 17:07

Park on you EMPTY drive?!?!

The fucking cheek! When they make it impossible for you to do so by their own shitty parking where they shouldn't be.

Stand firm, OP. Sounds like you have a solid ally in NNDN.

lynzpynz · 16/07/2018 17:08

@Jaxhog oooh now THAT is helpful to know! I may look into this... thank you Grin

Jaxhog · 16/07/2018 17:08

@alwaysthepessimist that's utter rubbish and your PCSO should know better! You are under no obligation to park on your drive and, as long as you aren't obstructing the highway, you can park wherever you like.

mumsastudent · 16/07/2018 17:11

hmm so silly neighbour 6 cars was told by estate agent that the parking was theirs? estate agents are not experts in who owns what they state on their info for sale that they cannot guarantee details & they must be checked by your solicitor, I would carefully read your deeds as they may say useful things like no commercial vehicles & where you can & cannot park (ie not blocking neighbours or parking in turning point. I would tear up her note and stick it on her car.

honeysucklejasmine · 16/07/2018 17:11

Cheeky fuckers indeed. They just don't want to juggle their own cars. Who buys a house with a single drive, on a cul dear sac, when you own 6 cars?!
