To think the anti trump marches are a waste of time

I don't like him or agree with his policies, but what good is it going to do walking around with a giant helium balloon of a baby?

Loads of horrible world leaders from the middle East that are doing far far woorse and they get a royal visit over here with no one batting an eyelid. Just smacks of double standards to me.

The blimp thing is really childish

foxssoxareinthebox · 13/07/2018 11:04

Typical far left trying to shout everyone else down

GhostofFrankGrimes · 13/07/2018 11:06

Demonstrate, march whatever. Stupid balloons make us look a stupid as him. Btw I'm not 'upset' by it. Just think people should have the intelligence to express themselves more constructively.

People are expressing themselves constructively - there have been plenty of articulate anti trump protestors on TV this morning. If the ballon makes the UK look stupid then the same must apply to Private Eye, tabloid newspapers or anything that seeks to mock or ridicule politicians.

raisedbyguineapigs · 13/07/2018 11:10

He is disgusting and his misdemeanours should be publicised as much as possible as often as possible. But the balloon is just playing to his narrative. This whole trip, with NATO, the EU and all the other fights he has picked with America's allies and in favour of Putin points to one argument-that America does so much for the rest of the world and all America gets back is ingratitude and mockery. People who don't and never will vote for Trump will see the balloon as a funny and pointed protest. He doesn't give a toss about those people. He does give a toss about the people that will keep him in office. Those people will see this as proof of what Trump is saying. He loves that balloon. It will be broadcast across the world and the Right Wing press will use it as an example of how juvenile anti Trump supporters are and how they have have no argument, so have to resort to childish insults. The message is completely hidden by the Trump balloon.

Yes and that good. However a massive baby balloon with tiny hands isn't comparable to newspaper articles that criticise trump

newspapers caricature and ridicule politicians so it is exactly the same thing.

derxa · 13/07/2018 11:16

Well said raisedbyguineapigs

LadyWithLapdog · 13/07/2018 11:19

@yy558 I have Fridays off and I live in London. Can I point out that oftentimes protesters are depicted as troublemakers or whatever in order to discredit them and delegitimise their protest? Don't fall into that trap.

PaduaPanda · 13/07/2018 11:23

cousinkrispy what a load of balls. Wanting a coherent and enforced migration policy is not racism.

Accusations of fascism are always used by the left to scare people away from discussion.

Which is ironic, because if anybody's behaviour recently has been like fascists, it's the left

VickieCherry · 13/07/2018 11:23

Most people I know who are protesting are taking a day off work, from their annual leave. Others don't work on Fridays and have childcare.

I find the number of pro-Trump purple on this thread most odd. Isn't MN usually quite left-leaning? Hmm

maxthemartian · 13/07/2018 11:24

Vickie there's a dog whistle that attracts them to this sort of thread.

LadyWithLapdog · 13/07/2018 11:24

I'm not racist but...
I'm not a Trump supporter but...

Yes, I too see a pattern.

LadyWithLapdog · 13/07/2018 11:26

You'd almost think the Trumpsters on these threads live in different time zones and have time on their hands when they should also be at work.

topcat1980 · 13/07/2018 11:29

Wonder if the Trump fans on this thread are going to be as critical as they were of Obama prior to the referendum for interfering in British politics?

The stuff about the blimp being childish?

Its called satire.

LadyWithLapdog

It’s 6:28 in the morning EST, So no not working hours. As a former Brit I find it interesting to see both sides. And as a Libertarian I didn’t vote Trump or Clinton.

To whoever said China isn’t “lefty” it kinda is. The goal of Socialism is Communism.

maxthemartian · 13/07/2018 11:33

The goal of socialism is a fair and equal society, not communism Grin

WhollyFather · 13/07/2018 11:34

Anyone who thinks Trump is a fascist clearly doesn't know what fascism is.

March all you want. Nobody cares. It's just student politics / SJW virtue signalling.

Enjoy your day out.

maxthemartian · 13/07/2018 11:34

So Janey nect time the Saudis come over, crowd fund a blimp. More power to you!

longwayoff · 13/07/2018 11:35

A particular level of intelligence is required to comprehend satire. So, balloon complainers, never mind. It will all be over soon.

GhostofFrankGrimes · 13/07/2018 11:39

Anyone who thinks Trump is a fascist clearly doesn't know what fascism is.

Perhaps you could enlighten us then oh wise one?

topcat1980 · 13/07/2018 11:41

"Nobody cares. It's just student politics / SJW virtue signalling."

But you do care, so do those objecting, otherwise why are you here complaining about it.

You doth protest too much

LadyWithLapdog · 13/07/2018 11:42

@Kursk you don't have to justify yourself to me. I wasn't the one asking why people have time to go out and protest. I answered when someone asked me and turned the question round.

topcat1980 · 13/07/2018 11:42

Come on Trump fans.

Where is the criticism of Trump for getting involved in British politics?

He has said far more than Obama ever did?

Hypocrites

MissionItsPossible · 13/07/2018 11:46
