Yes it is shame they lost, but they can go home with their heads held high to a rapturous welcome.

They did SO SO SO well, and made history with their 6-1 win to Panama, and the win of the penalty shoot out.

So proud of these amazing young men, and how they got ENGLAND to the semi finals for the first time in nearly 3 decades!

Hope this thread doesn't turn into a barrage of spiteful comments, coz it's so unnecessary, as they did SO well. And the past month has been so much fun, with the whole of England uniting in the joy of how well the team have been doing, and reliving the amazing football glory days of the late 20th century. It's been a bit flat since the late 1990's so this has all been so wonderful!

WELL DONE ENGLAND! Grin You did so well, and we are so proud of you!

You lot have been shown up the two times you played actual proper teams. Colombia would have destroyed you if they hadn't gone for horrible shithousery. When they started to play you looked like an under 16s boys team.

The draw fell perfectly for you, you could have done a Leicester but you fucked it. You're just not as good as you think you are.

Be grateful you're out now. France would have absolutely humiliated you.

Disappointed Sad. BUT we should have secured the game in the first half as They were very poor. Typical England - always going backwards which led to their goals. We didn't take our chances.

Yep, DS and I are gutted. Big football fans though. OH is mildly disappointed and I think he’s secretly relieved that it’s over (he’s more of a rugby fan). The players all looked so genuinely devastated, I just wanted to give them all a cuddle.

I'm really proud of the team. They played a cleaner game than Croatia did tonight. The ref needs a trip to Specsavers. However, they were a young team, they were too all over the field tonight and not in the goal area when they needed to be. But come on, we made the semi finals of the World Cup and weren't out in the first round Football Star Plenty to celebrate.

It's incredibly sad to see so many bitter people who can't muster the smallest ounce of sympathy for the young lads who have been representing England, playing their hearts out, training harder than ever, missing families and friends who are desperately trying to leave their mark in their industry (not unlike many of us) and make us proud. But yes. Who gives a shit because it doesn't directly impact you

Do you really think all those men 'desperately trying to make us proud' would still do it if it paid 500 quid a week? Mmmm. Don't kid yourself...they're in it for the money.

If England had won there'd be a lot of young Croatian men in the same boat.

I'm not English hence I really have no preference over whether the disappointed blokes are English or Croatians.

Just relieved the wall to wall coverage and competitive shouts of "it's coming home!!!" will be over, frankly

I am English but I feel exactly the same way.

I hate nationalism and I hate the way that it's deliberately stirred up by big sports events.
