To say 'get over here if you want England to win'

Ardent supporters, luke warm well wishers (I'm looking at you Scotland and Wales), waistcoat appreciators, Spurs, Arsenal, northern football fans, League 2 strugglers, those whose only interest is the office sweepstake, those playing 'It's coming home' on trumpets at 1am (I still haven't forgiven you for the vuvuzelas), those quietly sipping Chateauneuf du Pape with friends and family, Brexiters, Remainers and basically, anyone and everyone in between who isn't going to use the football as an excuse to jump up and down on emergency response vehicles or piss on a foreigner. Get over here now and leave the naysayers and misery gutses to it.

Come on England!!!

@derxa I honestly think the op meant to get across that they realise the Scottish and Welsh wouldn't be as excited as the English. I've seen on here some English people think the Scots, welsh and NI should be just as excited and forget it's not our team so I think the 'Luke warm' was just a nod to accepting it's not our team.

JohnnyKarate · 11/07/2018 10:32

We're having waistcoat Wednesday in our office, which I am just loving.

agedknees · 11/07/2018 10:35

Not even English, though lived in England longer than birth country and have no interest in football whatsoever, still been carried away by football fever!

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 11/07/2018 10:40

🤞🏼It’s worth your while wheres

LittleLionMansMummy · 11/07/2018 10:42

@derxa, I think @kaytee87 has it spot on. The very first response I received is testament to the strength of feeling in some quarters, but I equally accept that many will be cheering England on even if they're not your national team.

Wonderful post OP!!! Made me feel a little....(whisper it).......stirred!?

I AM IN!!

I also heard all the naysayers at the start of the rounds and it made me want them to prove them wrong. I'm a police officer and of course there's been trouble by a small amount of tools, but all in all we were saying on team the other day that the atmosphere has actually been so positive and friendly, pulled up at the traffic lights the other day in a marked car and a bunch on lads were scream singing 'It's coming home' and we all high fived through the windows. Grin

VINDAALLOOOOOOOO VINDAALLOOOOOOOO

ghostyslovesheets · 11/07/2018 10:44

Oh thanks - a place to hide from all the utterly miserable, football hating, snotty people !

FuckMePinkAndCallMeCedric · 11/07/2018 10:46

I’ve not watched any of the matches this year but yes I do hope they win, i think it cheer a lot of people up because let’s face it, things are shite right now. It won’t make those things less shite but it will be a positive.

Also they deserve to get to the final so far. The last few world cups with the likes of Rooney and terry playing I haven’t felt that way because they played crap imo. And I hate Rooney and terry anyway.

LittleLionMansMummy · 11/07/2018 10:47

That's lovely to hear @BasilFaulty and reflects the atmosphere in my very multicultural city.
